The cockatoos! They were surely the highlight of our stay also how close to all of the shops and beach we were.
It was a bed
The place and its facilities are really old. The worst is the bathroom. It is dated and wasn't clean. My husband and I don't understand how this place could be rated so high! It is overpriced for what you get.
Staff very easy and friendly
Bed was very uncomfortable.
Friendly staff, location, facilities. Suited our purpose for the night. Spa rooms should a worry for the elderly.
Staff were helpful Within walking distance to main part of town Off street parking free
Bed was too soft Ambiance of a standard motel
Very friendly attentive staff Location very near to beach and main street
Its a very basic motel considering the cost
Bed was good
The age of the rooms.Needed an update
No lift which made access difficult
Great location. Friendly staff.
Bed kept moving away from bedhead
Room was actually quite nice once you were inside
Location and very ugly building
Location and Room facilities
Room was clean, bed was comfortable. The owners feed wild birds so there are cockatoos, kookaburra etc perched on the balconies
We'd booked here on the promise of reliable in-room internet but it wasn't working. Not just a fault, which can happen to anyone, but it turned out they'd failed to test it after some repairs the previous day. Unimpressed. Also they seem to be trying to pretend they are a Best Western franchise (lots of branded materials lying around) when they're not.
The location was perfect, no need for a car. Right next to the only supermarket & bottle shop in lorne, yet peace & quiet.
No room service or take away delivery options. Also avoid the pizza shop down the road, look out for the guy with Ned Kelly beard. Both misses & I were throwing up pizza all night! $32 for two average dodgy pizza's!
I liked that there was no minimum 2 night stay which suited us. The decor in the room was mostly modern & very clean. Walking distance to shops & cafes. Snacks in the room were a nice option.
The bathroom was a little bit outdated - needs to be modernised to suit the room. On the particular night we were staying, a truck was delivering building materials to the site next door. It went on until after 8pm & was very loud. Not the Inn's fault. Traffic noise from the road is sometimes loud, especially motorbikes.
Terry the desk manager was very friendly and informative
The motel is very well located, being an easy ride or walk to the main street of Lorne where we experienced a great range of cafes and restaurants. Fantastic location if attending the Gran Fondo.
Having to carry bikes upstairs to your room as the motel does not provide a secure area downstairs for bikes.
Nothing was a trouble. Room was clean and simple and comfortable
Hard to keep the shower at an even temperature
Owner Terry was very friendly, helpful and gave great tips for wildlife spotting. He also encourages the local cockatoos, rosellas and kookaburras to visit, which was a real treat for our Canadian visitors. Room was comfy. Terry accommodated last minute request for ground floor room.
Location and Price
Very dated hotel, but for what you pay it is good value for $$.
The owners are so friendly and helpful, and go out of their way to make your stay special. (like feeding the kookaburra while you are there).
The heater was very noisy! all night. I think they need to upgrade to more modern, quite ones. They put the heater on for us in advance, but we later discovered that the windows were open! When we closed them, it warmed up quickly.
Is looking as though it is still in the nineties, looking tired Limited WiFi
The location is good. Staff was very kind to recommended the sight spot to see the koala.
The room is small and although the hotel provided us a small heater in the room, but we still felt very cold.
Good size rooms.
AC bit noisy
The hotel is located 5-10min walk from the centre of Lorne and is in a quite spot (at least in winter). A good italian restaurant as well as a pizza service are close located as well as the beach is only a few minutes away. The service of Terry (I guess the owner) was terrific and extremely friendly and helpful.
The room we had of the Lorne Coachman Inn was old fashioned and the reverse cycled air conditioning was extremely noisy. Terry had supplied a second heater that we are able to heat the room and bathroom. I guess the room looks on the photo warmer and nicer than in reality, but the facilities are fine and clean. The bathroom is old fashioned. The TV screen is pretty small (if you are after tv) and the walls thin. In my personal opinion is $199 to expensive for what you get.
