Room was small and hot
Friendly co-operative staff. very cost effective
The high level noise from the guests until 2 am, an nowhere to go to escape from it. there is also an ambient unpleasant smell in all the corridors.
Very very dirty bathrooms, and even though the cleaner came in while I was in the bathroom I noticed they didn't even go near the shower area before leaving. Also very loud at night and the room was tiny.
Cockroaches and showers were dirty
no free wifi unconvinent
they care and keep everything clean
my room was on the front road and at night there was too much noise
The staff were lovely and check-in and out a breeze. It's really more a place for the super young or those travelling on a budget. It seemed really social (there was a bit of a party going on in the kitchen one night). The location on Pitt St is also super good to explore the city from. So if you are travelling on a tight budget and want a place where you can meet people and be close to the action in Sydney this place might be okay.
This place is definitely not the cleanest. In fact it's a bit gross. There was a stain on our sheet, a huge white stain on the curtain by the bed (I don't even want to think where that came from!), the duvet cover felt greasy like it had never been washed, and the whole place has a grimy not clean feel to it. The decor is old and worn. The facilities in the blue section where we were are basic as could be and even though I saw a guy cleaning the woman's bathroom it wasn't really ever clean. The showers were gross- hair clogging up the floor in one, no hot water in another and looked like they'd never been cleaned properly in years. There was a sign saying that this blue section bathroom hadn't been refurbished - so I ventured down to the red section bathroom and this was a little better. My friend who I was staying with stood in spew when he ventured to the bathroom one night. Yuck. It'd been cleaned the next day but the large stain was still there joining the rest of the stains on the carpet. The whole place had a weird smell...it kind of smelt like stale sex, sweat and alcohol all mixed into one. The noise level is phenomenal. Bass and loud music ripped through the walls the first night as we tried to sleep. So loud you could make out what songs they were - we might as well have been sleeping in a club. But I guess it's just a backpackers so maybe our expectations were too high. We were trying to be stingey and save $ by staying there because we only needed a bed to sleep in for a couple of nights and weren't going to be hanging out where we stayed... But seriously never again!
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Stayed in a twin room, very small and extremely hot. Only a small wall mounted fan which had no effect at all!! In my opinion this could be harmful to people's health being too warm and unable to sleep. Could not bear to spend anytime in the room, given the price ($250 for 3 nights) would expect at least some effective air conditioning. I would not return here, my time staying there was miserable!!
Access to CBD area
Wifi, should be free
This place did not meet the minimum standards of cleanliness, the carpets smelled like they had not been cleaned in weeks, the rooms were small and cramped and the bathrooms were in pretty bad condition.
Nothing bed bugs bights and unplesant staff. Strairs no elevator.i called sydney.council need to.shut that place
Price and location, ease of rebooking
Noisy, and as hot as hell itself
Walking distance to everywhere. Lots of activities organised by the hostel. Free drinks and entrance to the clubs, dinners etc.
Very central but too touristy and crowded area. Only stayed here because didnt book hotel in advance.
The location and the staff was good.Really noisy street, and no aricon. but you can live with it for 1-2 days but for more I do not recommend it.
No place to hide your pack and yourself against the cockroaches.I do not like if they wanna cross over my head.
The staff were really helpful, helped with my suitcase up the stairs and any questions I had
My first night the shower had big clumps of hair and plasters in there and I wondered if I could stay a whole week but the cleaning improved after that
Not much to like in this hostel falling in ruins... Some of the personnel is really nice and helpful but others are just crooks, it's a real lottery...
There is a horrible smell in the rooms at all times, and they're incredibly hot and small. The price of the room went magically up $15 when I handed my credit card, when we didn't really have a choice to go somewhere else. On some days they give free food, which sounds great, but it tastes really horrible. Really. I couldn't recommand this hostel to anyone.
Location Kitchen facilities good
Noise of irish pub. Bathroom was a shocker. Cochroaches in room werent really welcome either. Not enough fridges
great location, good value for money, Friendly staff.
That me and my boyfriend got our own room.
Everything. It is greedy to charge for wifi.
You get what you pay for! I was a bit worried after reading other reviews but we decided to go ahead anyway and I'm glad we did! Whilst the carpet and bathroom where a bit tired the sheets where clean and the fan drowned out any noise on the street!
After emailing the hotel to double check that I would need my passport to check in and was told it was policy and yes I had to have it, only to have the staff member checking me in only require my Australian drivers license!
Great location great value
Pay for wifi
The price is only justifiable for the location.
air conditioning was not working in room, other guys had reported it 3 weeks before I arrived and they still didn't fix it.
