The whole of the 'Australia on Collins' complex was beautiful with the elaborate Christmas decorations. The Novotel happy hour in Michel's bar was exactly that...a very pleasant, happy time. The room temperature was very warm...difficult to sleep... and took a long time after temperature control adjustments for it to cool.

The location of the hotel was fantastic, close to all we wanted. The room was of a generous size and the breakfast delicious and plentiful. The pillows were either too thin or too thick. But, hey, nothing is as good as your own is there!

I was most impressed with a young woman on the front desk called Natalya who was so pleasant & efficient & even remembered my friend & me from our stay last year. Actually every member of staff was very helpful if we needed anything..

I was a little disappointed that after booking so far in advance, we were still only on the first floor with absolutely no view apart from a concrete slab. For the money we paid for 3 nights accomodation, there was nothing that stood out to us and not even breakfast was included. We have stayed at several Novotels and have always rated them highly, however, we would probably look at staying somewhere else on our next trip to Melbourne.

Value for money was second to none, I think we must have got a special as we stay in melbourne city 4 times a year (and have done for the past 3 years) and no other hotel has come close to this one in terms of value, space and luxury (in that price range).

I have stayed there before so was familiar with the facilities and aware of the convenience of the location - only walking distance to the mcg (where I attended a conference) and much less than 'walking distance' to the shops. Also very convenient to Southern Cross Station. The room was very well-appointed and comfortable; staff were very welcoming and helpful.
