Good price - helpful staff - comfortable bed- Excellent free shuttle into Cairns Central shops on the hour. 15min walk if you want but shuttle works great. Take your swimming gear for the magnificent lagoon in town -free entry-lovely relaxing area. Go to Kuranda on the train -a fab day out on a vintage train to a lovely village - can skyrail up or down if wanted - buy the gold pass on train on the way home for free beer, wine & snacks -yummy. Pool could be bigger ??

Great location on the Esplanade, close enough to walk to the City Centre, but far enough out to relax. Fantastic, wonderfully helpful and efficient staff who dealt with every request promptly. The hourly shuttle bus into town was great, especially at night.

I chose the hotel for its proximity to the airport and its view of the ocean. The staff were particularly friendly and the breakfast was good (except for the awful coffee). I would certainly stay there again. I could not believe how Bad the coffee was at the buffet breakfast. If you really aspire to be a 'Good' hotel you will have to offer percolated coffee not brown water. I am now in Japan and the standard of buffet service coffee here is a lot higher despite the fact that the Japanese generally drink tea. I wonder if you will publish this? Improving the standard of coffee is a Must.

Great beds. Excellent air conditioning. Excellent in room internet facility and connection. Good quality bar food. If you get a carpark allocated in basement - excelent quick access to rooms. Every charge has a credit card surcharge on it - even drinks at the bar.gives the impression hotel is desperately counting every cent. Very dirty balcony chairs. In room fridge very small. No basic in room cutlery and plates. In room ice container too small. Pool too exposed to people at restaurant ..... need a little more privacy. Not everyone likes to be watched swimming and sunbaking by all the people in the restaurant. Suggest screen off a little with some potted plants.

We had a double room with 2 beds and a balcony facing the harbour. Harbour views were awesome. It was a very quiet room with no sound heard from the corridor or passing cars. Position was close to shops yet in a quieter area than in the main downtown rush. Cairns has a beautiful esplanade with walkways. Bikeways and exercise areas.

Great locations with easy access to major city attraction and leisure activities. The service in the dinning room was generally good, however on a Friday evening they were short staffed and as a result the service was poor. With one bad incident, I wouldn't chnage my decision to stay, however, management should not leave staff in a position that they can not provide the service that they usually do.

The view to the beach. Although it rained the entire time I was there - 220mm in one day and it's not even the wet season yet. Easy also to get a taxi to go elsewhere. And there is a complimentary shuttle bus for tourists to get to the cbd which is not a short walk. It's 6km approximately so don't be a hero and think that walking in the heat will be a good thing to do. Noisy guests who slam doors. Too cold airconditioning. But you can always turn it down.

Location was fine for the airport, the town , the sea front and access to Reef tours.Clean and well run -good internet access at a sensible price (but not free which was a disappointment.) Pool was Ok Good free bus service into town centre,Fridge in room allowed self catering for meals as necessary. Spa at swimming pool was not operable during our stay -it said "closed for maintenance " on a sign hung on it but during the 5 days we were there no-one was working on it at all .

To be honest our stay there was more than we had expected - the staff were all professional, helpful and cheerful always willing to assist in any way. The room was excellent - the only thing I personally did not like was the fact that the newly installed air con system would not go off unless you left the balcony door open. If that is a complaint then it is the only one I have and as I say is a personal preference not to have the airconditioning on 24 hours a day. From the manager to the maid the service was exceptional and I have already recommended the Mercure to everyone I have talked to. Ok it was slightly out of town however the hourly courtesy bus took us there in 5 minutes so no problem. None

The staff were extremely kind. We got upgraded to a luxury room with ocean view and a terrace. There is a nespresso machine in the room with 6 complimentary capsules per day. Among all the hotels at which we stayed during our 3-week travel in AU, this was the only hotel that charged a very decent price for the Internet. Moreover, contrary to other hotels, it was possible to use unlimited number of computer and phone devices with the same Internet package, as long as they connect sequentially. Also, when logging out of the Internet session, the remaining time credit is paused, which allows you to use a 6-hour package during several days. The only problem we experienced was the noise of the air-conditioning system in the room that was masked during the day by the ambient noise, but became apparent during the night.

We liked the location of this hotel. It was one of the farthest hotels on the esplanade from the city, but it was a nice 20-25 minute stroll along the seaside park to get to the main city center, and the hourly shuttle provided a punctual, quick, and convenient ride when we didn't feel like walking. I didn't mind the distance because it meant we weren't near the noise of the city center. There were also a few very casual restaurants (pizza and fish & chips) within a few blocks of the hotel that were good. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Although the furnishings and linens are modern and updated, the room itself (doors, vents) could stand to be updated. The door did not have a security chain, and the door handle kind of flopped down when you closed the door. The balcony door was very difficult to lock/unlock. The bathroom sink area had been updated, but the shower/bath and its tiles had not been; it was showing some age and staining, but was clean. The hot water was inconsistent, and would occasionally turn extremely hot without warning. Pressure in the shower was pretty pitiful. There was air conditioning, but no heat. We were visiting in the winter and it was a little chilly at night. To help beat the cold, the staff told us to keep the balcony door open a crack, which would keep the A/C from coming on automatically, and also offered us extra blankets if needed. That worked, but I suppose it's kind of a strange solution. The in-room wireless internet was unacceptably slow, considering it is not free. All in all, this hotel was acceptable but not great. This was our first stay in Cairns, so I can't say whether it was a good value for the money, compared to other places. While I wouldn't refuse to stay here again, I would probably try somewhere else next time, mainly because of the water and internet issues.

Nice and helpful staff. Hotel was nice and our king bed with ocean view was nice, except for the bathroom. Location was ok, but not real close to the city, but it did have a beach view. Free shuttle down to the city, but it's not that far of a walk, unless you are elderly, then the free shuttle is a great deal. Bed was really comfortable. I would stay here again, as long as they get new shower heads in the rooms. The only real complaint was the shower. The shower head was horrible, most likely due to hard water clogging the streams of water. We kept forgetting to complain about it though as we had other things on our minds. I did not use internet because I get tired of hotels charging way too much money for me just to check email. Some hotels offer free wi-fi.

Only stayed overnight, on route from Weipa back to Brisbane on business. Staff were all very friendly and courteous. Would certainly stay there again. Had issues with trying to operate tv. No instructions available to refer to, and due to the late hour, did not contact reception.
