Mercure Hotel Harbourside Cairns  

Good price - helpful staff - comfortable bed- Excellent free shuttle into Cairns Central shops on the hour. 15min walk if you want but shuttle works great. Take your swimming gear for the magnificent lagoon in town -free entry-lovely relaxing area. Go to Kuranda on the train -a fab day out on a vintage train to a lovely village - can skyrail up or down if wanted - buy the gold pass on train on the way home for free beer,wine & snacks -yummy.

Pool could be bigger ??

Room was nice and comfortable, especially the bed. We had an ocean view which was nice.

While the room was fine I thought the corridors were a bit dingy and worn, which doesn't give a great impression. Also thought the empty bar fridge was stupid - if you wanted anything you need to call room service.

The mattresses were way to soft, me ,my husband and our friend all had problems sleeping.

Comfy beds

Not very modern

Everything was perfect, and then over my expectation .really friendly staff, I forgotten her name , but she is Japanese. She have a perfect services.

There is a shuttle bus that goes to the city centre every hour.

The air conditioning on sea view side can not be turnes off. The only way to turn it off is to leave the balcony door open. They agreed it is a big problem but they do not do anything about it. If I knew this I would not had stayed at the hotel. I eded up leaving the balcony door open all night long, sleeping hearing car noises.

The room was comfortable and quiet, a shuttle bus ran every hour into Cairns. Unable to comment on the meals as we did not eat there,

Room cleaning seemed slow --mid afternoon, and to far out of town to walk, especially as it rained every day we where there ! More draw space would be good as we lived out of a suitcase.

Great staff and a great place to stay

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The shuttle service works well. Many complained of the 1.5% credit card charge but almost everywhere in Australia charges one. There are many cash machines to avoid that issue. The beds were super comfy! Would stay again and recommend to a friend!

What we liked most was the friendly staff and the spacious room. We met one of the cleaners in the corridor and she was so helpful to us - as was one of the staff members at the downstairs dining area.

Everything was just fine except we think every hotel room with a bath could be improved with the addition of an overflow outlet in the bathtub to stop the worry of having to check on the levels every few minutes. Also, extra towels are a must as bath towels simply do not dry overnight in a hotel room.

Accor as always

Only stayed overnight, on route from Weipa back to Brisbane on business. Staff were all very friendly and courteous. Would certainly stay there again.

Had issues with trying to operate tv. No instructions available to refer to, and due to the late hour, did not contact reception.

Location of hotel was excellent right next to the harbour. Room modern and clean and spacious. Comfortable bed. Helpful staff on reception.
