Merribrook Retreat

Very peaceful, loved the cabins they were great, excellent food, staff were exceptionally polite and all I can say is we really enjoyed ourselves. I would definitely go back again.

The scenery and gardens were gorgeous. It was great to have a self contained villa set amongst nature. Very relaxing and scenic - felt like a real getaway. The staff and owners were so firnedly - they spoilt us and made us feel very special.

Environment and privacy. Breakfast is fabulous and the location for investigating the Margaret River wineries and all things Margaret River is perfect. The walking track around the property provides the perfect start for the day. Morning is all about birds waking you up.

Location is isolated so nighttime access is a little dangerous with lots of wildlife and no street lighting. No meals available except breakfast and distance from restaurants requires driving. Villas need reheating facilities (microwave at the least) to accommodate self cooking or reheating. No TV reception so DVD's need to be brought with you. A more modern TV would be nice too. If you like background music you need to bring your own - no radio in villa but ipod stereo provided.

Merribrook Retreat was wonderful - a welcome escape from the city and perfect for us as a young couple to get away from everything and immerse ourselves in the serenity of the location and the beauty of the grounds and villas. The breakfast offered a delicious and wide selection (which we couldn't help but sample everything!) and the variety of teas and coffees readily available were second to none. Loraine was the most fantastic host, hospitable, friendly, calming and understanding - she offered us advice with a smile and was always quick to say hello when we saw her without being intrusive as some hosts can be. Everything about Merribrooke radiated luxury and relaxation. I wish we could have stayed longer and definitely intend to return!

Nothing at all could be disliked about Merribrook - we were the source of a lot of jealousy amongst our wine tour companions when the bus came to pick us up!

The setting was very nice.

The "guest fridge" had no freezer and consequently ice was not available. For $250/night, I do not expect to wash my own dishes.

We loved the location, the grounds, the birds and wildlife, our breakfast, the fire in the lodge, the hospitality of the hosts, the accommodation etc etc etc. It was lovely.

We needed to stay longer-too rushed. Next time.

this is a great place if you just want to get away from everything... no phone signal... but internet.... no tv signal but free movie DVD's to borrow. 10 mins from Margaret river, and close to Vasse Felix and other wineries.. The lodge with open fire is a great place to eat and relax. Breakfast catered for you and is wonderful... Spa and pool lovely although Pool not Heated all year round.. solar so summer use only... which we didn't read properly. Spa was clean and warm. Lovely owners and staff, will definately return in warmer season.

Every thing, there's not one thing we didn't like. Rooms and breakfast Was great. The whole experience was heaven on earth.

It was like a dream staying there, I wish we could live there.

Gardens were nicely maintained

We were really let down with the accommodation a double bed in a room in the country no tv reception not even dvd's in the room a tiny heater the room was the size of a matchbox the shower was dangerous haven to climb over a high sided bath huge potential to slip bath took ages to get quarter full no curtain not even a window to separate toilet/shower the facilities consisted of a single satchel of coffee and a little jar of percolated coffee (which was awful) the so called lake views were from very end of Ben or outside no we were hugely disappointed with the accommodation even the said room on booking.com was not the room we had wouldn't recommend it to anyone and won't ever stay again didn't even get our free breki we left by 630 in morn had breakfast in bussleton

All of the staff at Merribrook were extremely attentive to our needs. Breakfast was always beautifully prepared, and the room was beautiful and cozy. Our villa overlooked the lake and the gardens surrounding the area. We will definitley be returning to Meribrook Retreat.

We loved everything about this hidden gem. From the minute you drive into the resort and see the lake to chilling out at breakfast watching all the wildlife. The lodges are comfortable, spacious, clean and modern with all the right facilities. The hosts were so warm and friendly and the breakfasts were to die for! I would highly recommend staying at this retreat and we will certainly return.

As the retreat is in the bush, there are of course insects around and there were a few in the lodges. We were provided with insect repellant spray which I used constantly just in case as I am petrified of spiders! Just be prepared for the fact there may be a couple but the hosts do their utmost to make sure there are none in the lodges. We had a couple in ours but my parents saw none in theirs over the 3 nights we were there. This wouldnt stop me returning.

Located in the valley with good privacy and a very nice natural environment. Forest, lake and wildlife give city dwellers a real retreat from urban life. The breakfast is great too.

Beautiful location nice and peaceful :) would love to stay again

I wasn't comfortable driving the single lanes roads into the place so my partner drove us.

The beautiful location and the staff (family) were hospitable and warm. I love the thoughts behind the retreat; the backstory. The retreat is designed to be as close to nature with gorgeous manicured sections if the garden. Also having limited internet/phone connectiin forces you to remove yourself from the business of the outside world.

Just some cleaniless issue like sealing up certain gaps to prevent a whole host if ants coming in. Eveb hanging a blue lantern to zap flies and mozzies can be an advantage to guests' comfort level; whether eating out or sitting outside.
