Great bed & comfortable room.
Room was in need of some update/repair.
The charm of the Hotel and the staff were very helpful, beautiful place just overpriced.
Needed some freshening up in the rooms. Though the building had a great charm to it.
location and garden
breakfast was very average. The public rooms were cold even in summer. Very noisy due to a wedding.
The restaurant, food, staff and reception were excellent - could not fault them.
The rooms are old & dated, chipped paint and tired furnishings make it depressing to spend time in - the lack of appropriate/comfortable seating on the 'balcony' is a real issue and should be addressed. The wisteria needs to be cut back so you can see the garden/fountain and let sunlight into the already very dimly lit rooms. The mouldy smell in the hallways in the suite area needs to be addressed. The bathrooms are out of date, not comfortable to use ( especially for anyone showering over 5 foot 8) and are not in keeping with a supposed 5 star. Which this place probably was in the 90s, but not in 2014.
Gardens were magnificent Meals were quite tasty Peaceful and pretty
Very hard to find your way around as signage was quite poor. Rooms were a bit tired for the asking price expecially the bathroom. Bar not opened till 1800. A certain staff mber not overly helpful
Out dated decor, poor lighting in our room, broken tiles around toilet flush button. Spiders in pool area. Old bed. No signs to tell you the direction to other facilites but you are given a map to share! Ignored by two staff upon entry to the hotel and got lost looking for reception not a warm weclome. Food is ok but you get enough to still feel hungry. My spouses gnocchi, a main course was a large plate with the dumplings spread across it not much of a meal for $30.
The location and historic value of this beautiful building make it all the more disappointing that the hotel treats its guests so poorly.
It appears that the property has not had any money or time spent on it in a long time; there were several broken fixtures and fittings in our bathroom alone, a dripping tap and the room was poorly cleaned. However, what really set it apart was the appalling customer service. The guy on the front desk was brusque, dismissive and unhelpful and we didn't receive any of the inclusions that we believed we had paid for in the package, including breakfast. This hotel should really be re-rated as a four star and should think about lowering its prices dramatically if it wants to have any chance of attracting business with their current attitude towards guests. We're both bitterly disappointed with the experience.
room, smelt old and mouldie didnt recieve the garden view room as requested very false advertising
Furnishings, artwork, pool, spa, gardens, ambience
No air conditioning in rooms and no biscuits
Location, food is excellemt
Bathrooms are in poor condition, no radio or docking station, air con way to cold and cannot be adjusted in room, pool has no towels so bring your own, bar in main house not attended we need to ask at reception to get the barkeeper with waiting 15 min after the second time, bar an.absolute rip off with $ 35 for a glass of wine.and.A.beer. Over all... 3 out10 Not at all 4 star. A Simple motel performed.better
Location was in the middle of nowhere so there was no traffic, just serenity
The gardens were beautiful. The service in the conservatory and bar were great and staff were so friendly.
Bit far away from everything. The bar did not open until 6pm. It would have been nice to have an afternoon drink.
Spa room and treatments, locality ,beautiful gardens ,wonderful breakfast room
We were given the incorrect room and had to wait for ours to be cleaned at 2.00pm didn't seem to be enough staff on mid week
Dining in the evening was superb/Compliments to your Chef and the waiter.
I requested single beds as we were two friends sharing the room. This was my Birthday present to my friend on visit from South Africa. The beds were too small and rolled and not comfortable.Dining in evening although the food was divine I felt paying $60 for the coffee and tea and one bottle of Mineral Water & 1 glass wine outrageous/sorry but that should have been included in the cost of Dining and Hotel Booking. Also when one comes to relax for one day and night and we are mature Ladies its so annoying that we who were sat down first for breakfast has then a big family with crying babies sat next to us.the dining room was big that was hugely disappointing.I never object but this was too great a price to pay for not having a great time/Sorry
Has everything but something missing? Facilities are second to none, food was excellent, staff attentive but...?
Perhaps mid week not best time to visit?
Tranquil location that made it easy to relax. The room was beautifully presented.
Vehicle parking is a short walk from main complex
Gardens Restaurant food Tranquillity Great for just relaxing
Someone broke into our room as the interconnecting doors were not locked and the patio door in the next room was left unlocked. Poor security. Also bathroom needs a proper upgrade.
The most amazing gardens I've ever seen in bowral, just superb and luxurious. Its the type of place where we would get married, its like a fantasy world on this property! The only thing they need to brush up on is their food, breakfast wasn't that great & room service I ordered lobster risotto but came out as scallop risotto…they didn't even tell me. Plus I paid full price for that dish
Room and breakfast went down really well!!
Spa treatment Very expensive for what I got and therapist was trying too hard to up sell and it interfered with my relaxation
The gardens are iconic, truly magnificent and extremely well maintained. The location is superb, out of town, but only a 5 minute drive to amenities.
The house at Milton Park is 'tired'. While the gardens are well maintained, the house is not. The garden has a team of gardeners, but a maintenance team needs to be assigned to the house.
The food was sensational as well as the location and stunning grounds.
The bed was really uncomfortable and our bathroom didn't have an extraction fan which meant that the walls were dripping wet with condensation after a shower.
1. Beautiful grounds. 2. Well furnished in common areas. 3. Staff well dressed and polite. 4. Great gym and spa.
Overpriced for what it is. I don't mind paying for good quality but I've experienced much better for for this price in other hotels. 2. Hordern's restaurant also overpriced in my opinion, $70 for 2 courses - I had the scampi tails for entree which were lovely (but I was disappointed with the handful of undressed rocket that looked like it had come straight from the packet), and the barramundi for main. If the entree was around $25, there's no way that piece of fish should have cost $45! 2. The garden room we had was far too small to bring a baby. Whenever she had a nap we had to leave to room and it was disturbing at night. 3. The walls are not sound proof and if we could hear our neighbour taking a pee, they sure as hell would have heard the baby in the night! 4. We had someone's old chewing gum stuck to the underside of our mirror. 5. Hot and Cold fronts were on the wrong taps in the bath. No big deal until you waste a bath full of water :( 6. Generally a bit tired, bathroom old and toilet smelt a bit sewery during our stay at times. 7. Pool closed due to a wedding one late afternoon 8. After my spa treatment products were presented encouraging purchase. I'm there to relax, not to get sold to.
Here is a hotel trading off its name. Was it being slightly rushed through our early dinner sitting? Or the cheap coffee machine at breakfast? Maybe it was waiting for ever for drinks order to be taken in the foyer/bar? This hotel is NOT a five star experience, simple as that.
Venue is the best I have ever visited! Room was clean, tastefully decorated and comfortable! Spa facilities - just awesome! Restaurant - First Class! I have never encountered anywhere in the world so genuinely friendly and helpful staff!
