The ferry there is kick ass. Approaching Mona 'Island' is so exciting. The wine bar has impressive beers, wines, cheeses and beautiful antipasti platters. The Pavillion apartments are beautiful with crazy spectacular views, so quiet, a great selection of wines and constant free access to magical Mona, highly recommended.
The Source restaurant is dated (think 90s fine dining with naughties foams and smears). Make it a cigar bar with warmth and grit! And get rid of NZ wines. Tassie wines are all you need! There's nothing else to dislike. What a great place.
MONA is a 360 degree experience and left me wanting to visit again soon. I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in arts, design and natural beauty .
the rooms and views were stunning.
the computer system (music blinds etc) only worked on some settings and the breakfast was just average.
For such a short time (two day weekend) everything was at our fingertips. It made the weekend truly pleasurable. The shower was amazing. Music in and around the whole unit including the bathroom was delightful. The kitchen had top quality utensils and amenities not like the garbage one usually gets with a cottage or weekly share. Knives were sharp and pots & pans were new. It's a shame we didn't spend more time allowing for me to cook. Access to a 5 star restaurant for breakfast (included), multiple visits to MONA (included), and a Morrilla Estate wine tasting (included) makes the visit a memorable time.
More time to spend in the shower.
We had the most wonderful stay in the Sidney Pavillion at Mona. The room was awesome, extremely well appointed, clean and in an amazing location. Our stay at Mona was the absolute highlight of our Tassie holiday. A 10 out of 10.
All facilities and services provided by MONA
View over the Derwent estuary; the deck to sit out; the architect designed plan of the accommodation; the room service meal was excellent; the excavation for the Museum created a valuable theatre for the exhibitions.
Some of the exhibits in the Museum were trying too hard and failing; the whole site requires better planning; the Roy Grounds house is spectacular but there was little information about it; the soaps being sold were rather tasteless.
Source restaurant was fantastic
View and spaciousness was excellent
Chef overly pretentious with breakfast. Every half decent hotel offers bacon and eggs for breakfast, not Mona
the amenities, meals, service ,pretty much all
the art exhibition wasnt what expected-----somewhat over the top as one would say!
Fantastic 5* accom. All mod cons Luxury plus. MONA itself fascinating. Great to be on site
Nice, comfortable, clean. Great Breakfast.
We just thought it was overpriced. Although I think you are paying for the concept of MONA. Next time we will stay in Hobart pay 1/2 the price and get accommodation equally as nice.
The beautiful position, the chooks and ducks and guinea fowl wandering in the grounds, the great view, the breakfast.
The air conditioning was funny - we were freezing cold the first night and then stiflingly hot.
