Central location. Space to park my car. Able to leave my car there after I checked out.
Shower head was broken. Bed wasn't made.
Location, availability of private rooms.
Old, uncomfortable bed! No air con.
The location, staff were friendly (gave ideas of what to do in the evening)
Wifi was poor, would not work in my so had to come to the common area to use it. It was very dirty but that is due to many 18 yo gap year travellers which was not my crowd
not clean at room, no shampoo supply,
Location and value for money. As a mature couple was concerned this was for young travellers. No problems there.
We have stayed in hostels all over Australia and this is by far the worst and yet one of the most expensive. Ants everywhere, not very clean, dirty pool, thekitchen was very under equipped and the wifi was rubbish. This hostel is in need of some serious updating and a little bleach wouldn't go a miss!
Value for money. It was good stay with such a low price !
Shower was not upto mark...I mean it needed replacement.
Rally nice and helpfull staff. Free breakfast (toasts, cereal, milk, tea, coffee, spreads). Clean ensuite bathroom.
The room furniture was a bit outdated. We only intended to stay there one night so it was ok. No free wifi, but there is a Macdonald's across the street.
Met some lovely people, comfy beds.
Wifi was quite expensive and didn't work in our room.
We were there for the Mooloolaba Tri and while minimal it had everything we needed. It was close to the action, allowed one night stay, available parking and even a noise curfew.
Friendly atmosphere, both staff and backpackers. Pleasant rooms. Would recommend this place as Mooloolaba is definitely worth a visit.
Not worth paying for the slow wifi. Rather small kitchen but ok.
Location, price & private bathroom
the shower curtain was too short causing water to go everywhere.
Free use of bodyboards, surfboards and bikes. Free Breakfast. Was quite quiet, so could sleep well.
A bit run down, a lot of things are broken including many of the surf and bodyboards, half the lockers in the room had doors missing. Not great value for money unless you use free things to hire. No cutlery or oven in the kitchen.
a pleasure to be in a vibrant environment with lots of enthusiasm and friendly attitude, this applies to staff as well as fellow travellers.
couldn't think of anything I didn't like
The plus point was location in terms of the bus stop - right outside so it's easy to find once you've arrived in mooloolaba!
The kitchen which was assigned to the block I was in was very under equipped, and the available items for use such as tea towels were really dirty/smelly. I appreciate it's the backpackers who are using them however it felt/smelt like it hadn't been washed in at least 3 weeks - the hostel should have been rotating these more. The fridges clearly werent cleaned as regularly as other hostels, there were bugs crawling on the inside, it was waterlogged at the bottom rendering that part unusable - and the fridges were quite small anyway so losing a shelf wasn't helpful. They were generally not as clean as others hostels have been. I also felt there was a lack of 'comfortable' communal facilities compared to other hostels. Having heard so many nice things about mooloolaba itself, the backpackers hostel was a real let down for me, so much so that I cancelled a future nights stay even though I would still have to pay. In fairness there isn't an abundance of hostels in mooloolaba so it's likely they will always be busy, but they shouldn't let a lack of competition affect how well they keep the hostel!
The staff we helpful and happy
Room was dirty.
Free paddle boarding
Pillows and mattress
location to facilities was great friendly staff
the doors onto the balconys been locked after a certain time
The pool, very clean!
I arrived around 7.15pm and did not really appreciate the way my passport and credit card were openly left in the reception area after closing areas. Not very safe, needs to be improved.
Loved the double room and the kitchen on each floor. Everything I needed. Very impressed by the free board and bike hire although I wasn't able to make use of them. Very happy about the noise rules and that they were respected. Thank you.
Would have loved some air con. The fan was great though. Only thing is that it was a very noisy fan so I couldn't sleep:-((
Cockroaches on the floor at night. Needs more power points around rooms and communal area.
Location was close to all amenities by foot or car.
• Room was double booked on arrival. • Alternative room given was a group dorm but the only double bed (as reserved) was broken. • The bunk bed we subsequently had to sleep in was so unstable I wouldn't have put two toddlers in it let alone two adults. This resulted in one of us sleeping on the bottom bunk & the other on the floor. • The wifi code given to compensate the error & lack of advertised television only worked in one specific area of the car park. • The room lacked the most basic of facilities such as a bin.
breakfast included was a bonus. Staff was great.
in the heat of summer the fan was not enough.....maybe aircon units will be the next step.
Friendly atmosphere. Close to town.
Beds and mattresses were very uncomfortable and need replacing.
