love the main road location, bar and restaurant are nice , great rooms are more than comfortable and very nice. This hotel has been lovingly restored by the owner who was very friendly and more than helpful as where the rest of the staff. Our second stay was as good as the first , Excellent !
Limited menu choice ...
The booking process, check in and introductions were very warm and welcoming. Facilities and comfort were great as we had the Superior King Room. Well worth the extra for special occasions. We had a meal in the dining room however while the menu was OK, there was nothing to my fancy. The chef then came out and spoke to us about the sort of thing we felt like and he cooked up a storm..! One of the greatest tasting meals I have had. Thank you New Northern, it was a great stay.
No fridge in room
Everything about the property was very nice. We walked across the road and bought a paper and then sat on the upstairs balcony of New Northern which was very relaxing. Staff were very helpful.
When we arrived we looked at the menu for a quick lunch however, we found it difficult to choose an item for our tastes. We were joined by two others in their 30's therefore there were four of us that could not find an item to choose. We were only looking for a sandwich or similar. We ended up at a local hotel where the meal was excellent
Noise from refrigeration coming from kitchen right underneath our room
This hotel has a lot of character. The restaurant/bar area is filled with beautiful oak furniture & contains many interesting artifacts. Also loved waking up to the smell of croissants being freshly baked by the pastry chef. There rooms are a decent size but are really only for sleeping, but the massive shared balcony makes up for anything the room lacks.
Breakfast chaotic no assistance
The cleanliness and the excellent continent breakfast ... without croissants. Left at 7.30am. The room was extremely clean as was the downstairs area.
Didn't see anyone. Stayed Sunday night, due open again for trade on Thursday. Had to narrow time down to arrival consequently missed much of Daylesford. No room to swing a cat, dropped computer, noisy traffic, no one to be seen anywhere. Left key on desk when I left, no one around. Spooky.
Quirky art and furniture, new beds, soft furnishings and bathrooms. Totally amazing breakfast with freshly baked pastries. All period furnishings restored to a high standard.
Noise factor, door seals would help. Room was a bit stuffy, AC was efficient but didn't want to run it overnight, an open window helped with air movement but traffic noise was a bit of an issue. It's a work in progress and promises to be fabulous when finished.
the continental breakfast
No bar fridge or fresh milk
Great food, friendly helpful staff
Noisy main road
Included breakfast good historical nuance -timber, photos large bed that was not two singles with a chasm toilery quality
no hanging space except behind the door no bench in the bathroom, all toiletry bags clothes on the floor
Nice and clean. Lovely and quiet nights sleep. Good hospitality thank you.
Staff were very helpful and accommodating even though they very busy at the time we arrived Continental breakfast (included in price) was fresh, good fruit and pastries, nice baked bread (yum) Room very clean and good quality towels/sheets and pillows Nice verandah to sit on after heat of day
Rooms are quite small, but everything was there for a couple. Would be harder if on a business trip because of lack of room for computer etc.
Arriving VERY late we were worried about finding accomodation between towns, the New Northern were excellent in booking our room, meeting us late and accomodating our early departure. EXCELLENT service and fantastic renovations.
Only staying a short amount of time
we found the room clean and bright. Staff were friendly and attentive. Bed was very comfortable and furniture looked good if somewhat impractical.
Found it somewhat overpriced for what it was. Missing a few details - tray under tea pot, door handle, closet etc. Was a bit noisy from the hall way - luckily fellow guests were quiet but otherwise might have been a problem.
Location is great in terms of The Bridge Hotel and some live music.Wonderful restaurant with fantastic food.
A little out of town but a nice and quiet location near a beautiful park.
Street parking only Nowhere for hanging clothes (2 coat hangers on the back of the door) No full length mirror No bench space in bathroom 1 ply toilet paper Not good value at $155
Staying at the New Northern was fine. We will probably stay there if the Jazz is on next year. The short walk down town is probably good for us.
character of the place
the room was a bit small
The bed .
There were no pastries left when arriving for breakfast .
The smell of cooking each morning
A bit far to walk for evening meal.
Friendly staff, great food and comfortable well appointed room.
The vibe of the place. Great atmosphere, mood, live music - piano blues, flowers, candles, comfortable bed, great food, clean facilities and good staff.
Wi Fi didn't work in the morning, although check out was 11am.
Quiet, great building and rooms, artwork, furniture, dining room, huge bathroom. It felt like it fits with Castlemaine's character. The fact that it is near the 'historic industrial' area of town makes it even more unique.
