Staff were pleasant and cheery. Clean and well organised.
Big rooms Good vibe Friendly staff Plenty of space, kitchen, tv room clean kitchen good showers
during winter months the hostel is FREEZING really cold noisy in weekends - party hostel
people were friendly
very cold wind blows through windows noisy no shampoo given rather expensive no initial guidance given no room service
All facility is as it should be. Bed is clean enough, eventho it slightly gritty. Shower is plenty, and clean. The girls in the room are OK. Electronic key for room, but not for bathroom.
The sign is too small. Hard to spot at night. Pay more attention to where it is on map, if you are 1st timer to this hostel. Front door jammed a bit. Room smell oddly in the morning, need more ventilation. The hostel is old and all seems rusty, but clean enough. Could use a little paint and some redecorating Bring ear plug coz noises are carried inside the room. Dont forget passport or driver's license for it doesnt accept Australian student ID during check in.
Fairly good location in walkable distance to the train and coach station, which was my reason for staying one night here. Close to the nice riverside area with restaurants etc too. Staff seemed very friendly and helpful. I didn't check out the kitchen or other facilities as I arrived late evening and departed very early the next day.
The bad layout of the big dorm room meant I couldn't keep my luggage anywhere near my bed. No curtains/blinds over the big windows which faced out onto the busy street with its neon signs and street lighting. Bring an eye mask if you want to sleep!
In city and easy to get transportation cheap all staff friendly.
Location is good near the free tram, clean room, really friendly staffs and free luggage storage
Stayed here twice in 10 beds room, first was one night then extended to 3 nights. Roommates were extremely dirty, I asked for room change and I was moved to an empty room for 3 nights!! Second one with a friend and only one night. Roommates got drunk, got back really late, very noisy and when everybody was sleeping one of them peed on his friend, and yes they fought. Not hostel fault, but you might end up with bad roommates probably because its really cheap.
Staff were available and friendly.
The bedsheets didn't seem clean, the floors were grimy... And thanks to fellow guests being gross, the bathrooms were quite awful (though it's not entirely Nomad's fault, they could have cleaned more often and vigilently).
The room smelled awful.
We liked that it was close to everything we wanted to do in Melbourne and the bathroom on near our room was great, powerful showers in a hostel? Who'd have thought!
No storage in our twin room
The best thing was the water pressure in the shower and the location was pretty central and handy for the sky train.
Clean, good showers, bathrooms. Nice big room. good beds. friendly staff, and atmosphere.
Very noisy (street traffic) Kitchen facilities (No Oven, or freezer generally untidy)
Was tip top will stay there again!!
the experience is worth the time
Close to areas that interested me
If you are after a good night's sleep do not stay here, trams, cars , motorbikes very loud, drunk people in the weekends..
The location is excellent. Beds are good, the stuff is very helpful and friendly. Rooms are big. There is a supermarket nearby.
These are not critical things, but as a suggestion for improvement: it would have been very helpful to have a small lamp near the bed, so that if you have to get out early you don't wake roommates by switching on the main light. And pegs - more pegs are needed to hang clothes in the shower, and a small shelf to put a shower gel while bathing would have been helpful.
Good location, clean toilet and bathroom.
Friday night, too noisy music from bar
Location is great!
Upstairs, no lift and no sign to go upstairs...
Wifi $4/24h, Locker $4/24h, always giving a deposit for everything (pot, dvd,...)
New bathrooms, toilets Staff generall helpful Stones throw from southern cross On multiple tram lins
Kitchen sucks, dirty, have to deposit for ANY pots, pans. Pretty sure i and others got bitten by bed bugs. TV room really down STINK, and is filthy (and I aint no clean freak). TOO FRICKIN LOUD - directly above the pub, same owners, and they have done nothing for noise insulation. CRAP.
great location, next to southern cross stn
noisy rooms, tv sea doesn't look really clean
The location was easy to find as soon as we came out the station.
The staff didn't make us very aware of the facilities and the lockers and wifi came at an additional cost. The bed sheets had an unidentifiable crispy patch. We stayed in a room with a grown man with a horrific skin disease who came in at all hours swearing - which in all fairness is not the fault of the hostel but we only stayed one night and have caught an all over skin disease from the bed sheets. The staff changed the wrong bed sheets after someone checked out. We stayed one night rather than the four nights we had paid for. They had a no refund policy and made our stay in melbourne extremely expensive and stressful. We were able to use the money we'd paid for a future booking but I guarantee I won't be returning
I liked staffs at the counter. They were so friendly to me. One of staffs helped me to check the Sky bus time schedule in the late night around 2 am. Thanks !!! my man. That made me smile in the place like that.
I suggest you to strict the rules of staying. I couldn't sleep at all. My roommates took the girls to their bed. They sat on others' beds to drink until late night. They didn't respect much on other travelers. All nations mean peoples come from different culture background. So, please set up the universal rules for travelers , not just for western cultures.
Location. Free luggage storage.
Lack of facilities in room i.e. plug sockets, lockers and side lights. Bathroom and kitchen always dirty.
