Oaks On Lonsdale  

My wife and I were attending a Show at Her Majesty's Theatre and Oaks On Lonsdale is literally a three minute walk from the theatre, restaurants and trams!! Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet with a great view over Melbourne.

I found the on-site parking facilities a little daunting. I was worried about what would happen if I met another vehicle coming in the opposite direction??!! Not much room for manouvering out of the way!

Clean good central location Roomy and well equiped rooms

Was in a good location. Comfortable & clean.

The parking was awful. Trying to get in & out of a one way narrow driveway was hair raising. The balcony was way too small with the heater on inside we froze from the outlet blowing on both of us. Over priced for what we received. The bath is dangerous. Its deep & makes getting in & out very difficult even with a rail. We have both stayed in many types of accommodation plus have worked in housekeeping. Housekeeping have done a good job we couldn't find fault.

Lack of communication between staff members and patrons of Oaks on Lonsdale, Poor design and safety issues regarding connecting parking facility, Extremely poor design regarding the use of the lift system, I found it totally unneccessary using a card to go up and down the lift.

Access all around the facility is easy - no long treks with heavy bags which is a real bonus. The staff are excellent, very happy to help with anything needed. Apartments are well proportioned, very clean and well provisioned and there is a supermarket and bakery etc next door.

The shower over bath is a worry as the bath is higher than the floor, making it a dangerous transition. Although there is a grab rail, it still feels precarious. We thought the apartment was close to the Regent Theatre, (found it on the Regent Theatre site) hence the selection to stay, but it is at least a 30 minute walk which is fine if you know beforehand that is the case and you can allow for it. Same applies for general City shopping but very close to China Town and lots of restaurants etc.

The couch had bad stains on the sqabs

It was clean and new. HAd a great view and was in a handy location for shopping

Staff at reception are excellent: courteous, friendly and always respond quickly to requests. Very good that this service is available 24h. Rooms are spacious, nicely appointed, heating/aircon works very well, and all appliances are well-maintained. Comfort, safety and ambience great.

Internet - leisure travellers will probably not want to commit to 2h+ at a time, but purchase time that can be used incrementally (E.G. Azure?) Ratio of sport to other TV too high!

Both the rooms (living room & bedroom) were large, spotlessly clean & very well appointed ; reception was straightforward and efficient, polite and friendly. Location is just right - within walking distance to everything in the city (especially the theatre area), but just enough on the outskirts of the cbd to be quiet late at night.

Bath towels were thin and scratchy - get a better laundry supplier.

Location and style of apartment

The lighting very poor- down lights do not create effort light to see locate belongings especially in bedroom and bathroom

The comfy bed and the separate shower (not over a bath).

The studio room did not have one seat/chair?

The outside light on the baloncy didnt work, shower was pretty average, the bath was very high to get into and the water sprayed out in the shower.
