I liked most things. However I did not like the Internet scam that you run in each of your rooms. I found it hard not to spend money while I was asleep as well as when I was not in the room. Your charges for your internet usage takes advantage of someone like me that is not going to buy a dongle just for the weekend. You charge twice (once for the time and once for the mb used.) The time should be stopped if you unplug, go to sleep, or leave the room. I will not be returning to Oaks on Market st again for this very reason. Who ever came up with it was clever on one hand but in hindsight not that clever because it really annoyed me to be charged in this way. Also when i checked out i was charged for two 24 hour internet periods in one day. I had to get the guy to check the logs to make sure of it otherwise he would have charged me too much. If i hadn't of said anything i would have bee charged too much. I am also still waiting for my pre approval to be available back to me on my debit card and it has been 48 hours. Regards Beau

We stayed for 5 nights at Oaks on Mkt. The availability of the kitchenette with all the essential cooking utensils was a godsend. It allows us to cook delicious meals from the fresh produce of the Victoria Market. The wonderful service provided by Front Office staff, Dani (Chinese girl) makes the stay exceptional. The location near key attractions, free tourist buses and trams makes it very convenient for exploring the city. The non-provision of shower caps and lack of free wi-fi.

The spacious room and the cooking facilities available. I did not make use of them except for breakfast as I was away from the hotel much. I would have expected that at the price paid daily for a room, that the wireless internet would be free instead of the high price. Also, one could not order only an hour in the room, or permitted to carry-over any unused portion to the next day. I have stayed in many hotels the past 5 weeks of travel and many smaller hotels offer free internet, and carry- over if charged for the use.

The facilities, apartment, cleanliness etc were all great. We also arrived a few hours before check in and the staff (at that time) were great and very accommodating. Well located and well priced. Our friends stayed in a more expensive hotel and I found our room better set up and the bathroom especially alot more modern. Two main incidences ruined what would have otherwise been a great stay. First - we were charged twice for our room. I brought this to the attention of three Different staff members and got a different story each time. I was assured that the money would be back in our account that day but that also never happened. Finally on check out I was told that they had taken the accommodation cost plus a $150 Bond as the bond (so in effect I paid a bond of over $500). I was assured that it would be credited back on check out but again this didn't happen and I am still waiting for the funds. The second incident (which I may file an official complaint over) was to do with housekeeping. On the last morning of our stay at around 9am housekeeping came into our room. We asked them to come back later and subsequently put up a Do Not Disturb sign. However they still attempted another two times to com into our room! I found they had a complete disregard for our privacy and that they were probably in a rush to do all the rooms on the one floor. It really was appalling and Will probably mean I will not stay there again. I use to be quite a fan of the Oaks hotel chain so these events were very disappointing.

It was very homely and I enjoyed the comfort of the bed, especially since I'd been staying in hostels up to then! The staff were very approachable and friendly. There was no duvet on the bed and I could have done with more shower gel.

Very little, view was okay though. My booking was for an event that they were in part having at the hotel (so I payed FAR more for a room than I normally would have due to the earl and later start involved. The event got cancelled, but the hotel wouldn't refund me money due to a no refunds policy. I would have been happy to switch to a later date for little later, and even pay a rate difference, but they said this wasn't possible either. Considering the event at the hotel was cancelled, I would think making some special arrangements under the circumstances would be in order, hotel policy or no. Room was fairly small. Tv was free channels only, movies were available, for an additional $15. Even though the welcome sheet said wireless was available to the rooms, it isn't they only allow you to use the internet hooked to the small wall cable and also this will cost you money as well. Was alot of mould growing between the tiles in the shower too. Expected ALOT more from a proper hotel for the price. Most private rooms in backpackers in the CBD are just as good, MUCH better service and far cheaper... next time, I'll be going back to staying in them.

The comfort, quietness and location There were four of us staying in one suite (2 bedrooms) for 6 nights. We were not informed there would be no cleaning and servicing of rooms because of the public holidays, 4 in total. I have never heard of this before and was disappointed this was not made clear on arrival. I thought it was appauling to not have this service until we made enquiries. In all my travels of the years I have not experienced this before. My daughter has worked in world class hotels in London and Manchester and she had also never experienced no room service on public holidays unless requested. This should have been made clear upon arrival. I was also disappointed that there was only 1 bedside lamp per room and the glass bedroom doors let light in in the morning. These things did not indicate to me a four and half star hotel.

I had access to the best stores and restaurants and bars, and also had a nice stay in my suit. The pool was small and the hotel restaurant was expensive though it was not better than the food stores around.

The staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The rooms were very comfortable. The hotel was within walking distance of Melbourne tourist destinations There was no suitcase stand in the rooms and no disposable shower cap in the bathroom. The entrance should have a ramp.

Location, services and staff were all great. My price was good too as we booked through booking.com. After each day walking around the city we were realy looking forward to the pool and spa and were very disappointed with the spa. It was just no way near hot enough to give us the relaxing relief we were expecting.

The friendly and efficient staff. The size of the bedroom and bathroom. The location and easy access to facilities and other locations in the city. The cleanliness and maintenance of the room was also impressive. The access to a balcony or having an area to smoke. Also having minimal cooking facilities makes it difficult on a lengthy stay.

Location is great and a lovely view of Yarra river Lounge was extremely uncomfortable and when I asked staff for 2 extra towels as my boyfriend and I wanted to have a swim I was told that the Oaks on market charges $2.00 per extra towel. I politely declined.
