Location. Cabins. Hammocks onvthe deck. Older members of staff helpful and conscientious.
Cleanliness poor. Beach needed a clean up. Cabin only cleaned on arrival. Pool yeucky. They said water tanks were being cleaned (for the first time! ) so not able to use tap water even for washing up. Tap/shower water brown.majority of staff very young / very transient staff.
The staff was so helpfull. The ferry stoped on the day we came. So they helped us with our tours and gave us the change to cancel one night (no other resort would do that!) So we could go one night earlier to Airlie for a tour. And there was a mistake with the grocery, so the staff offered free toast in the morning for breakie. Many thanks to the people of Palm Bay resort. Had an amazing weekend, I'll never forget it!
The resort is beautifully located in a secluded bay, the bungalows are wonderful with a beautiful view. Great place for relax!
Location is beautiful, staff very helpful and friendly, turtles, air con rooms, 24hr Kayak access with no charges
No coral reef in swimming distance
An amazing place to relax with your partner. A real paradise
no restaurant around so we had to cook everyday for ourself ( but not I real big deal, a bit more fun on our holidays)
Peaceful and isolated. Beautiful location with beautiful scenery. No noisy jet skis or motorboats. Abundant wildlife.
No direct ferry service to the resort, but this is also a good thing. It protects the tranquility.
He island is amazing!
The receptionist not too much available with guest.
Im not one to write reviews, but this place is the exception. Me and my partner loved every minute of it. From the little boat ride from the ferry, it feels like youre entering youre own private paradise. Its not crowded, with plenty of space between villas as well as plenty of space in the dining hall and pool areas. We explored the many walking tracks and regularly used the free kayaks and snorkels. And the turtles! So many turtles. the kitchen facilities were a lot better than we expected with plenty of things there, we never had to wait to cook a meal. will definitely be going back!
People friendly and very helpful, it was a lovely location with some really pretty and interesting walks. If you wanted a quiet time you could get it here, lots of private spaces to relax, and the pool was lovely. David especially did a great job ferrying people back and forth to the jetty to catch ferries, always on time and a lovely person. The walks were great for wildlife, especially the cute wallabies, wonderful!
We were there for a weeks stay, it would have been nice to have had the room cleaned maybe just once during our stay, but we did know this prior to going. The rooms were nice, and the grounds were kept clean and tidy, but you can see that maybe a little bit of TLC is needed to keep the place looking even better.
Very calm and natured place, great for chill and relaxe! View from the hibiscus suit direct on the small bay with all the colored trees and palms, the nice birds was amazing! Had a tropical bird for visit on our first day and heard the tunas jumping at night...faboulos! Bathroom was very clean and newly renovated. Seaview from bed...crazy!
Small things (floor and some light switches) need to be repaired. Each transfer from jetty to resort and reverse was charged with 10$pp...arrival and departure transfere should be included!
The location and the surroundings were beautiful and relaxing. The staff was very, very helpful and friendly. The Hibiscus Suite was amazing!
Personally, I don't like cooking and my partner cannot cook. We weren't at all prepared at all, but we were able to piece together some meals from items they sell at the little shop and also things left in the communal shelf by previous guests. If we'd planned ahead and brought some of our own things, it would have been better.
Stunning setting, incredible view, excellent facilities, impeccable service, a true tropical paradise
wonderful place ; quiet ; only 20 young people on vacation; good for walking in nature; easy to go to the Reef ; warm welcome and support by Hélène the owner-manager; and the most amazing : to hear birds at dawn for one hour (then go back to bed...). We were living in the wonderful Hibiscus suite.
no restaurant and you have to order your food in a supermarket or to buy some at the reception; then you have to cook by your self among other visitors not always smiling; then you have to wash you dishes (lunch only). However, day after day, we were more comfortable with this process and enjoyed it.
The setting, in a National Park full of wildlife. Was so nice not to be in a commercial style resort. Palm Bay is more of a retreat than a resort.
Absolutely beautiful setting, would definitely recommend a beachside bure to make the most of it. Loved being able to relax in the hammock overlooking the bay. Great value for money too! Nice resort-like facilities. Plenty of wildlife.
The walk to the other resort for the watersports activities we'd booked was essentially a trek through the bush - took longer than we'd expected. Would be nice if they had a restaurant on site for when you didn't feel like self-catering.
The best resort I have ever been to. The place is so beautiful that every picture you take there looks like a postcard. The staff is friendly and helpful. The shop is well equipped - we found there everything we need. If you do not like to cook everyday you can dine at the Breakfree Resort which takes a 20 minute busch walk to get there - we did it few times during our stay.
Very secluded. Accommodation is absolute beach front, the burres were beautiful, comfortable and air-conditioned. The resort is self catering which we were not aware of. And although we did not take any food with us the Resort had a little grocery store which was sufficient.
No TV in unit. Only a communal lounge room. No where to wash feet after been swimming in the lagoon.
Some wild wallabies wandering, fruit bats & buttterflies, lots of birds. The place is very quiet, the place to have meals & the swimming-pool are absolutely beautiful. Take the Hibiscus suite if you can, great view over the Coral sea from the amazing couch on the balcony!
Not much, a truly special place if you're ok with mixing kind of luxury + making your own meals!
Location and villa were stunning. Completely relaxed. Staff couldn't do enough to help (missed the boat to get boat trip on the Camira and they turned round to pick us up). Loved it there and woukd defo go back :)
Didn't like the idea of everyone cooking for themselves as at night time became very crowded. We sussed this tho and just cooked earlier in the day when there was noone about.
The location is very good, you get the ferry to Long Island and then the owner picks you up in a small boat and takes you to the small resort. It is very secluded which is nice for a bit of peace and quiet. There is a shared kitchen in the main area where you share fridges and cooking facilities with other guests, this is actually quite nice as you get to mingle and chat to people from all over. The wooden bungalows are right on the beach which is great, however they feel rather tired and dated as do the grounds generally. We had a lovely stay but wouldn't be able to stay any longer than 2 nights and think a bit of investment in the general appearance would make this place amazing! In fact whilst we were there they did appear to be doing things around the place so maybe this time next year it will be ideal.
Tranquilyt Position isolated but acess to other resort and nature trails Bungalow on beach Beautifully planted effect of tropical Island with and local wildlife eg turtles in bay Acess to beach resources kayak snorkels tennis etc Friendly manager Self catering facilities inc 2 deg cold room
Some staff while helpful could be more informative and empathetic. Many responses were curt until further clarification requested . Be aware no maid service in our 4 days. Information on getting food in was not obvious to us upfront .
great bungalows, very nice pool, nice to be able to cook, and very private not too many guests
The location is beautiful, but the beach should be more taken care off, cleaned and groomed.
The swimming pool was extremely dirty. The room also was not very clean. There is not housekeeping service or restaurant/bar in this please. Chris, the woman there, is the opposite to helpful. With cleanliness and good staff this place would be great.
Amazing location, Full relaxation, Massages, really get away from it all and escape the city life! A real island life. We left completely relaxed!
Cramped self catering kitchen, especially when other guests were trying to use it. Having to rely on others to clean up means at times the kitchen area and utensils were of low cleanliness. Wear and tear on the resort was showing it areas, e.g. broken sun lounges not removed/repaired.
We loved the quiet location of the hotel and the option of self containing as we traveled for the first time with our 5 months old baby. It gave us the freedom to be flexible with breakfast, lunch and dinner time. We also loved to meet other people when preparing breakfast, lunch or dinner in the community kitchen. Everyone was so relaxed and friendly! The hotel has a great flair and its so quiet and calm! A travel cot was supplied without any additional costs. David and Chris were really nice hotel staff and helpful with any kind of question we had. The grocery and beverage online order worked well and was delivered on time. We found the IGA online shopping facility sometimes a bit confusing because we somehow ordered 3 kilos of Oranges! We rang IGA staff and they were very helpful and removed the unwanted item for us immediately.
The hotel does have a nice flair but it still requires a few renovations to match the standard (which use to be a 5 start Peppers Resort before). E.g., the hammock hasn't been cleaned/washed so it was a bit uncomfortable to lay in there and relax. The table cloths and the chair cushions in the restaurant area seem they haven't be changed for a while either. When we arrived in our room the fridge was open. A huge block of ice must have established there so the door couldn't be closed. Anyhow, my husband managed to remove the ice block so we could finally use the fridge. We also recognised that the smoke alarm was removed/fell off in our room which should be a standard facility. The island itself is beautiful but unfortunately the sand has been washed away from the beach a few months ago (the staff member informed us about this). So the beach there is a little bit rocky. All in all, its a great peaceful holiday destination. We really recommend it for people who are looking for a relaxing time out!
