At the meeting point of Australia’s Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, laid-back Brisbane is spread around the meandering river running through it. The river’s artsy South Bank is home to Australia’s largest modern art gallery, tranquil gardens and an artificial beach. Just across the river is the towering skyline of Brisbane's central business district, the location of many hotels in central Brisbane.
Nearby are the botanic gardens and Queen Street Mall, the most popular Brisbane shopping spot. There are more shopping centers all over the city, and the out-of-town malls include one in the Indooroopilly suburb by the foothills of Mount Coot-tha.
This green hill offers fabulous city views and has a planetarium, nature reserve and yet more botanic gardens. In Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to the south, you can hug one of the lovable animals, while Australia Zoo – Steve Irwin’s legacy – is a good day trip.
Brisbane is a very leafy city and one of its parks, Wickham Park, contains the Old Windmill, Brisbane’s oldest building. To the northeast, the Fortitude Valley suburb is known for its vibrant music scene and Chinatown. Across the river in Woolloongabba is The Gabba or Brisbane Cricket Ground, and nearby is the bohemian West End district.
Booking.com has plenty of downtown hotels, and other accommodations near Brisbane Airport in a northeastern coastal suburb.
Brisbane weather was great, public transport especially...
Brisbane weather was great, public transport especially river trips were lovely, food was excellent, different areas of city almost like individual villages were lovely, art galleries, museum, theatre etc in South Bank such a great day trip in one area. Great for walking, feels safe, shopping was excellent and Brisbane airport is so easy by private car or train. And then you can also go to the Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast for beaches or even further. A lovely spot only exception is driving in the city on one way streets with no where to pull over if you get lost driving in rush hour. Just avoid this and Brisbane is great.

Had a funky smell in the lifts, and the room when first entered, the bed wheels had no locks so it rolled away from the bed head, but was very comfortable to sleep in though. Loved the location as it was a short walk to Queen St mall, my kids loved it, also my two boys (18 and 20) went to the Hillsong church across the road and loved that there was the gym around the corner. Would've been nice if there was a room for families to all stay together instead of different units (my husband and our 5kids) we still enjoyed our stay though.

I have lived in Brisbane for thirty or so years and have worked there, and lived there with my family. It was still good, but more people everywhere. It is still nice and tidy in the City Centre and has good public transport.
What to avoid? I don't know, we had dinner in a nice restaurant with friends at the Southbank, and our hotel was nearby in walking distance. One cannot ask for more.

Easy city to find our way around and great public transport (trains and ferries). Fantastic dining options and beautiful parks. Love the rooftop bars and views over the river. Highly recommend Felons bar and restaurant for a relaxing way to spend an afternoon by the river. Lots of vegetarian/vegan restaurants. Would recommend City Bowl (delicious Chinese food) and Zazata as a fine dining Mediterranean option.

I have visited Brisbane many times.
I have visited Brisbane many times. Mostly for medical specialist appointments or to attend music events. My stays are generally not for long periods - a night or 2. My usual transport to the city is by car with a handful of air travel arrivals. Each visit has been trouble-free. I find
I manage driving in the traffic well & the times I use public transport has been easy. Each accommodation venue I have stayed at has more than met my needs. Because my time in Brisbane is limited for convenience I usually order food delivered so can not comment on places to dine. As a visitor, I truly have no complaints.

Have visited Brisbane several times and this location was great.
Close to walk to Queen Street mall and Southbank, QPAC, Art gallery and museum.
Able to walk to catch the transport either buses of ferries.
Several cafe and restaurants witha wide variety of food.
Metro supermarkets nearby
Excellent Chocolate shop where you can get hot chocloates, or gelatos or chocolates. Well worth a visit.
We booked for a standard room, but were upgraded to an executive suite. The apartment exceeded our expectations, and the standard of the room, furnishings, and amenities was excellent. The views over the Brisbane River were spectacular, and we spent a good deal of time just looking out the large windows. The hotel is in a great location in the CBD, with many eating places nearby. It is also within easy walking distance to St George's Square, public transport and thee Southbank precinct.
The apartment is in a good location at the western end of Southbank. Easily accessible to all Southbank facilities including bridges to Brisbane CBD and ferries. The swimming pool area (in Tower 1) is beautiful and spacious - very clean with barbecue and seating facilities. Staff were friendly, lifts efficient and public spaces open and light. The curtains in the living space had fallen from the rail - it was fixed within an hour or two of me making the reception staff aware.
Location, location, location. Right in the centre of the CBD.
Just around the corner from so many Asian cafes and restaurants as well as shopping areas. A walk over the river (or quick bus from the myer centre) to Southbank where the Arts precinct, gallery, museum and lots of food options. The hotel staff are caring and will go out of their way to help - more like a country motel than hotel. The cafe downstairs makes beautiful scrambled eggs and top coffee.
Small hotel on Kangaroo Point, across the river from Brisbane's CBD (downtown). We had a nice 2-night stay. Very clean. Comfortable bed. Spacious room with full size fridge and cooking facilities. Chris at the front desk is very helpful. We recommend taking the short 2-3 minute walk eastward (turn right as you leave the hotel, then left at the river) to Medley Cafe for a lovely breakfast; the cafe is set amongst trees and overlooks the river.
Really liked the apartment we stayed in, was great value for money. super central only 20 mins drive into the city and 10 mins to the Westfield mall. room was clean, comfortable and modern. staff are very friendly and up beat. parking is much cheaper than other hotels/ services apartments closer to the city. wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
The apartment was so handy to Fish lane which has lots of local restaurants, bars and cafes as well as short stroll to South Bank, West End and the Brisbane CBD. For theatre goers it's a 2-minute walk to catch your favourite show & you can indulge in as many before and after drinks as you like with a quick stroll back to the apartment.
We arrived quite early and the receptionist was kind enough to let us store our luggage while waiting for check in. Overall, the location was dead at night. But it was just a few stops away from CBD so no issue. Also, it was convenient for us to utilise the free shuttle bus and the bus stop was located just opposite of the hotel.
This accommodation is perfect if you want to walk the city of Brisbane. You have easy access to the river, the botanical garden, Southbank and the CBD. You can walk as far as you want, and use city cats to go even further. A comfortable if older hotel, but the staff are friendly and professional and the facilities are good.
A well presented quality hotel with great sized rooms with all amenities. Decor is classic style. No1: bed and shower were great. The Royal Albert is located in the heart of the Brisbane CBD with shopping, restaurants and entertainment in easy walking distance. Parking on site was an added bonus and the staff were great.
Excellent location if going to QPAC. Awesome restaurants and pubs close by - LOVE Southbank Beer Garden and The Pig & Whistle. Beautiful walk across Victoria Bridge over to Brisbane CBD - beautiful breakfast at The Pancake Manor, be sure to book though! The view of the river and city was spectacular.
We stayed on 2 separate nights - 1 week apart. Well appointed Apartment.
Our 2nd night's stay - the apartment overlooked the Brisbane River - amazing views, especially at night.
Great location & easy access to CBD, Southbank and Restaurants.
Staff were fantastic, the room was small but perfect for our night. Close enough to CBD and city for cheap fares around $8 which is great. Can walk if your wanting a beautiful scenic walk. Real fast was Amazing! Great hotel.
We like nothing in this hotel. The space inside the apartments were good but rooms were full of dust. We have stayed in the hotel for 3 nights but they haven't even provided us at least toilet papers for the next two days.
Location great, supermarkets nearby, close to train, plenty of decent food and beverage options nearby, within walking distance of CBD, close to Southbank, Convention Centre, Museum etc, major bonus - free parking
Great location for public transport into Southbank and Brisbane City. Good system for ordering takeaway food to get delivered to reception. Only 5 minutes from motorway exit.
Good location for either Brisbane CBD and about a 15 minute walk to Southbank cultural precinct. Comfortable bed. Very quiet - we didn’t hear any other guests.
