The early morning looking on to the river.
We were happy with everything.
The breakfast service was slow, over an hour and a half. I only ordered a fruit platter, mainly to give the baby something to suck on while we ate, so I'm still confused at the delay. I also noticed wait staff being rude to customers whose orders came out wrong too. I know it was busy, but it's your job to manage these issues.
Ramada was in a great location and it was relaxing to sit down of an evening at the restaurant & watch the sunset over the river with a cool drink in hand. Only 2 hours away from Brisbane, so its an easy drive to get to Ballina and its a fabulous gateway to go exploring and see all the wonderful beaches that are within a ½-1 hour drive away - fantastic!.
We were very surprised that Wi Fi wasn't free considering that this is a modern complex with a 4-5 star rating. Even the coffee shop down the road provided this? Ramada recommends meals at Indian/Italian Restaurant next door. We decided to ring the Indian from our spa room on our last night stay. Couldn't believe they said they don't provide cutlery for take-away food & said to contact reception at the Ramada - this was very disappointing & we were truly amazed!. Maybe you need to take them off your recommendation list I am sure other hotel guests would not be impressed. Prices varied from when I personally went to the bar of the restaurant to buy 2 drinks as opposed to when we got waiter service for the same drinks. Coat hangers were missing from our room on arrival. Towels weren't changed. My wife rang reception and was told that she should have placed them on the floor! Common sense prevails - one would thing they would just change them regardless on the floor or not?
Dolphins in the harbour, fishing boats in and out, sunrises and sunsets so spectacular, lovely restaurants to choose from - what more could you want?
Great place...we could have stayed there longer. Only stayed one night as an overnight stop over from Sydney to the Sunshine Coast.
Bathroom fan sensor was annoying during the night.
The food in the restaurant was very good, the location of the hotel was great.
The drinking glasses in the bath room were dirty; the TV had a line across the middle of the screen so it made it difficult to watch and the bed spread was stained or with what looked to be Blood. The spar bath was dirty
Location and quality. I travel internationally and I must say the ramada would not be out of place across the wold.
no hot water
Loved how we did not have to anywhere to eat . It was all there in the one place including a very nice bar with river views. The pool was great and very relaxing.
The garbage bin was hidden behind the desk and had not been emptied. Ooops
Strongly considered staying at Byron Bay but discovered this delightful motel. Ballina and the little towns to the north are beautiful. And the beaches--while everyone crowded in at Byron we had these jewels mostly to ourselves!
Not much to not like.
The sofa bed was uncomfortable. There was a problem with our door lock.
Top location with restaurants nearby. Easy walk to everywhere! Very friendly and courteous staff. Pool area is awesome and relaxing.
Spa room was smaller than the picture indicated and you had to stand at the sliding door to a "common" balcony to see it from our room. Spa was a bath with jets.
Noise from others
for one nite we could not fault anything staff & restaurant just great we will be back
We had a fabulous stay, fantastic location, friendly staff and amazing views.
My only dislike was that there wasn't more simple foods on offer.
the position , lovely view and close walking proximity to the hospital and woollies
the pillows or room stuffed up my nose a little, am allergic to dust
Nothing was too much trouble
Great hotel no problems
Location and decor
Location close to attractions and shops in Ballina and good base for exploring area. Very good restaurant options in building.
Lack of free wifi.
Disclaimer : I am a local ... I was born in this area and have always thought this fertile valley was the best place on the planet ...( However I have never lived here since 2 years old ) .... I didnt really travel the world until I was about 30 ( now 30 years ago ! ) and I can confidently say now "I was right :-) ! This hotel is a fairly recent addition to the Richmond River Waterfront that used to be industrial and fishing until about turn of the recent century ... and by international standards its 4 or 5 star without being overly 'flash'... but roomy and very comfortable and scrupulously clean ... and efficiently staffed by locals with their touch of rustic charm leaves absolutely nothing to be desired . Highly recommended ... I think you wont be disappointed
Once you leave the hotel precinct there is not a lot to offer in Ballina itself . A 10 minute tour of the shops and youve seen it all . The River and the beaches offer swimming and surfing and fishing ... but this location is a very good value gateway to the magic Hinterland beyond to the north and the west ... and a 20 min effortless and scenic drive on cruise control to the much more popular ( and much more expensive ) Byron Bay ... again Highly recommended ... I think you wont be disappointed !
Ballina town itself, very downmarket and uninspiring. Hotel restaurants were ok, but no more than that. Our room was musty and not very well cleaned. We actually checked out a day early! How this hotel was ever rated more than 4* we can't understand. This was our 6th hotel in our 7 week trip, and this hotel was the most disappointing. We rate it a 3* against all the others.
