Staff were friendly and helpful. The proximity to the beach was a major factor and added the extra value to our stay.
Ambience warm friendly and full of life
The air con needs improvement...didnt cool as much the staircase is too narrow specially if you had young kids like us...rest was very comfortable...
We will be staying at Rayville again. It's location in Apollo Bay is perfect for long stays with young children because it's away from the main tourist strip.
Outside tired and need replacing, garden needed weeding
There is only one bathroom/toilet in a villa intended for three couples.
Views from top level and balcony were great. Living area comfortable.
One bathroom for 6 adults wasn't enought, especially toilet being in the same room.
Not clean, rather disgusting for the price. Advertised bike hire free only had 1 working. No value for money and wouldn't go back
We stayed here for 2 nights in the deluxe loft and it was absolutely lovely and relaxing. Very close walk to the beach and to the town centre :) staff were lovely and we felt very sad to leave. We will definitely be visiting here again soon :)
Firewood was left out in the rain so we had to buy our own but other then that I couldn't fault the place.
Great location with the town/harbour/beach an easy walk. Open fire adds ambiance .
Really all was fine. Its about time the owners gave the place a bit of a freshen up. Small issues were. No frying pan, Wood heater really needed a decent clean out prior to our arrival,Neighbours dog ,If we had kids upstairs it would be really hard to have a nice temp both upstairs and down.
Too cramped for 3BD unit Promised Oceanview but had to struggle
loved the wood fire loved the easy of getting around loved the entertaining deck out front
Frequent visitors to Apollo Bay (approx. 4 times a year) Probably the worst bed/mattress I have ever slept on. Solely on that we will not book there again
Great location, comfortable unit, wonderful staff, an ideal place for a romantic getaway. Will definitely be back again and for a little longer than an overnight stay next time.
The wood heater needed a little work and cleaning.
The location and aspect of this property is brilliant. Beds were great and we havent had an electric blanket since we were kids.
Unattended reception. Managers were in Melbourne.Did not see them at all. Penthouse needs some work eg blinds not working, peeling paint, needs a good and thorough clean. Some cleaning aspects eg crumbs still around toaster need addressing. The whole property needs a bit of a spit and polish with some attention paid to the little details
Tiles in bathroom lose and grout discoloured. Fireplace smokes as chimney needed cleaning out.
Self check out was a good system
-staff were really helpful and lovely - use of golf clubs for free
-value for money -high winds the whole building moves and shakes -very cold in the bedrooms
Being able to walk to the Main Street and restaurants.
The shower was terrible. Half the lights didn't work. The decor is very dated.
Superb location whilst travelling the Great Ocean Road and excellent value. To sit on the balcony in the morning with a clear view of the ocean was a real treat. Very caring owners who take great pride in their property and provide a friendly and professional service.
Very comfortable and very clean , loved the fireplace had mash mellows ;)
It was all good ;)
Great place to stay. Stuff very friendly. We booked a penthouse and this was just perfect.
Lovely location with a good view of partial sea/coast from our deck. Nice living area upstairs.
We were asked to sign a form saying we had emptied our rubbish bins outside, washed the dishes and cleaned the tub if the bath was used - never have we been asked to do the housekeeping in a hotel type accommodation before! The tea towels smelled bad and felt greasy. Could not get the heaters to work at all. We later found much better accommodation where we did not have to do the cleaning and at a lower cost! The management was changing the next day after we left so maybe that has something to do with it. Don't think I would choose to stay here again as the welcome could have been much better without forms to sign about cleaning!
Boat house design
No toilet on second floor in house number 4.
We were travelling with our Queensland friends and we had two one bedroom units. Both units were nice and roomy with everything we required for our stay. We had a cold, wet windy day and our Queensland friends were warm and cosy by the wood heater, as were we. The area was quiet, no passing traffic, And only a stones throw from the beach.
The bathroom was looking tired. Broken tiles on the floor and a broken towel rail. The wifi in our room (unit facing street) was ok but proved very slow in the rear unit.
Just used the Rayville Boat House as an overnight stop whilst travelling the Great Ocean Road. Fab property - really quaint but had everything we needed for our short stay. Very comfortable beds, a great bathroom and overall spacious.
I must admit that with a name like "Boat House", I was expecting a property with a sea view, however this was not the case but all facilities were all on the doorstep including the sea-front. Some furniture in the upper twin bedded room would have been a bonus - a wardrobe / dressing table or even a desk!
Location, wifi, electric blanket
