Breakfast for seniors was great
Convenience to Hobart & surrounds
Dinner the first night.- there was one male who was the waiter, barman, kitchen hand delivery of meals to rooms - He was exhausted This no way to treat staff We have been to other Ridges where there is bountiful & happy staff. When we arrived the receptionist was not too helpful. The building needs some updating & more staff
The beautiful old buildings.
THE TORN BLIND IN THE BATHROOM, THE MOULD IN THE SHOWER AND THE COBWEBS IN OUR BEDROOM.
Shaby rooms no fly screens, no air conditioners, no fans so old amazed that ridges name would provide such poor quality. Worst bedrooms ever.
The bathroom was full of mould and curtains broken in lounge. The cleaner informed us that the building was going to be closed in few weeks, so no maintenance. Did not live up to the Rydges name! No screens on any windows and bees came in. Bedroom window could not stay open at all so no fresh air
Late check-in, very good bed. Pleasant location with good views.
A little far out from the CBD, need to drive or take public transport. Bit old fashioned in layout.
Pleasant ambience. Easy accessibility from highway. Spacious apartment with good self-catering facilities. Good secure parking. We commend the staff for patience and diligence in returning personal item left behind.
Bed sagged a bit. Lack of coordination during emergency evacuation. Laundry remote from our building.
location, parking and comfort
Kitchen appliances, cups etc very tired! No TV guide. No DVD player or radio. Not everyone wants to watch sports TV
Generously sized room. Very comfortable bed.
The hotel is old fashioned & needs a lot of modernisation. Our room was rather like a prison cell with no views from any windows and very dark. Fittings & furniture were archaic.
Room had an odd layout, the bedroom had no door and the wardrobes had been arranged to form a wall - this was more than likely the frontroom. The frontroom which was once the bedroom was now at the back of the suite. Staff seemed a little abrupt, made a big fuss for about a month before I arrived claiming they needed to speak to me, gave two numbers but nobody here seemed capable of dialing a number outside of Australia so more emails arrived - eventually got what they wanted to aske me out of them, did i require two beds in my room? As I had booked a twin room for two people then obviously the answer would be yes right???!!
Long walk uphill from city centre
Clean and tidy. Close to great eateries
Steak was over cooked.
Room was spacious although smelt very dusty.tap leaks in bathroom and toilet seat needs aome work.curtain in bedroom needs a bit of work too.
All the staff were lovely with the exception of a girl who i spoke too upon arrival.I asked could I pay the bill as weve stayed here before and I really felt the way she spoke back was not necessary. She made a big deal about paying upon arrival as I already knew that and she had this BIG attitude and made me feel very uncomfortable. To the managers if you are going to be front of house please ensure you have the correct people and personalities to fit the role,as people have been traveling and it would be really nice to be treated with some respect. This realky can mean will these customers come back again...for me its a resounding NO.
there was a carpark for my hire car
The Superior King Room pictured on booking.com was nothing like the room I was allocated on my arrival. My room was in urgent need of an upgrade and was more suitable to a lower standard of hotel which is fine if you have booked that standard. I mentioned the quality to the reception staff and was informed there is an upgrade planned but this didn't help me out any on this trip. While I have stayed at possibly lower standards of accommodation before I knew what I was committing to but I expect to get what I think I am paying for and will provide feedback if I feel it is justified. The complex has a lovely feel however the newer part (possibly built in the late 70's hasn't been touched since so there is a vast difference between the historic main building and terrible extensions. Rydges, you should be doing better than this and is not good for your brand in my opinion, how many people walk away and not bother complaining????
Everything was great
Weather was to cold.
The most comfortable bed ever!
It was very cozy and comfortable.
Location to water front.
Size of room. Very comfy beds. Location was good.
No microwave in kitchen. No bar lock on front door which allowed our young child to open door and escape outside.
size of room comfortable bed
Dated 80's furnishing & fittings - torn curtain, stained carpet, full length cracked tiles in bathroom, no bedside light, chipped mug, shower curtain missing hooks, very noisy bathroom fan. Not good value at $175.
a) booking information was misleading as it implied breakfast was included in the price however it wasn't until booking was confirmed that it was a separate "meal plan" b) fishy smell in room/fridge
The reception staff were lovely and helpful and the room was light and comfortable.
The male staff member in the restaurant was very rude. From the time I phoned down from our room to book a table he basically grunted as us. Spilt water on our table and simply left it; wanted us to order drinks yet hadn't bothered to show us a drinks list. The heater/air con in our room didn't work.
Lovely old building(s) - obviously the premier classy hotel of its heyday. Still has the charm and grandeur of yesteryear.
location was fine
no airconditioning, reception staff didn't have a clue what was going on
Size of room. Complained of substandard conditions and was granted 50% discount.
Very shabby, old furniture, kitchen and equipment of poor standard, heavily stained carpet, no outlook, Windows opened only small amount, no air-conditioning, no cotton blankets: it was summer.
The view we had was amazing and the swimming pool was nice and refreshing. The staff were lovely and very professional- well equipped with maps and what to do in Hobart.
We had an excellent stay although there was a wedding booked in which we were only told about on arrival. It was really loud all night and would have been good if we were at least offered another room to stay in or told upon making the booking. Other than that, a great stay.
