The location is very inspiring but a bit far away from the rock. Found the staff in the restaurant area extremely friendly and helpful.
Arrive at 1pm by motorbike, on check in the staff informed me my room wasn't ready and they couldn't tell me when. Suggested I wait till it is ready no later than 3pm. I was dressed in my leathers hot and sweaty, at no time did the staff offer me an area to change nor would they give me an answer to my repeated requests to find out when I can access my room. A new staff member arrived on the desk and this time I received an answer immediately and my room was ready 5 minutes later. I think it is unacceptable for a highly priced hotel to treat guest with such arrogance.
United Nations of young staff. Modern buildings and facilities. Feeling of space and lawns. Trees and shrubs throughout the grounds.
WiFi should have been better.
Great facilities for this location 2 complimentary washing machines
JAPANESE STAFFs Long walk between the room and the lobby
All staff were friendly and helpful with arranging activities, serving food and drink and supporting the requirements of a family with a small baby. The grounds provided plenty of space for relaxing and for activities.
The room service was erratic both in terms of cleaning times (often very late in the day) and contents of the in-room breakfast orders, which were generous but inconsistent in terms of ordered items.
Great service, facilities, room clean with everything you need
Air con didn't seem to cool the room and it ended up quite stuffy. If it had been the middle of summer it would have been quite uncomfortable
Great location and nice rooms. Staff were friendly.
With these very high prices they really should not charge extra for stuff like internet or a better coffee for the buffet breakfast. I understand that it is difficult to run a resort in such a remote place but it is still very much overpriced for what it is.
Excellent location, great service & breakfast.
TV unwatchable, screen goes blank for minutes at a time.
Very good service from the staff. Excellent buffet breakfast and dinner option - the dinner buffet is excellent value for money. Decent wine selection Comfortable rooms Superb a la carte at the Desert Sands Hotel
Housekeeping of the room let the whole experience down somewhat.
The Pool, The gardens
Shower over Bath ( my Wife has a disablilty). The Wasp Nest in the Bathroom, The Flooding Bathroom. The attempt to charge an Extra $100 on incidentals
Part of organised complex with options for recreation, dining all very convenient
Bathrooms were not cleaned well during stay.
Breakfast was awesome! Beautiful hotel. Loved everything thank you so much. Also best cocktails in town!!
Good location in relation to Uluru. Well appointed, relaxed but professional service. Lovely grounds and pool. Good decor throughout. Been re decorated and fitted out nicely. Big pool, heated in winter to 20c. Comfortable restaurant, good food. Plenty of helpful staff.
No a la carte restaurant service. This meant the choice was between a buffet which was fairly expensive, especially if you don't normally eat a lot. We don't as we are elders. Or the bar which was limited in chair (as oppose to high stools) sitting spaces and in menue options. Our room's courtyard was near the hotel car park which opened out onto a ring road, and while guests parking their cars was no problem, the frequent big tour buses going past were, as they were noisy. It meant we couldn't open the doors as much as we would have liked to. Some things were not quite up to 5 star standards e.g. the hot tap shower turner kept falling off, the air conditioning was noisy so we had to leave it off at night, the veil curtains were stained and the sliding glass door lock was damaged, so although it locked it didn't seem very secure. Tiles were broken or falling off around the edge of the pool. Staff were addressing this issue. Some of the fabric bench seating in the restaurant was stained. I left my mobile in Alice Springs and arranged to have it express posted to Sails. It arrived in Yulara the following morning at 8am but I didn't get it until late the following afternoon. I had to track it myself and had to ask reception staff twice to follow up for me.
location facilities rooms beautifully quiet and dark at night helpful staff
random times of room cleaning
Comfortable king bed Well organised excursions/trips Lovely swimming pool Sounds of Silence dinner Good restaurants Convenient local shops Friendly staff
Wi-Fi a bit restricted/limited Meals and transport a bit pricey
Good resort facilities complete with IGA within 10 minutes walk, heated pool and Ilkari restaurant provided wide variety of food of different cultures. Staff were helpful with queries and bookings. Near to viewing area to see Uluru from a reasonable distance. Good interaction between the resort and the local community.
Still have to pay for WiFi which was restricted to 3 devices. However to be honest you should enjoy the culture and nature than being on an iPad or iPhone
It was just complete tranquility. Beautiful, Clean, delicious food.
We liked the location, the building, the gardens, the lookout, the environment, the silence ... And the staff, very friendly and helpful.
Prices are high
Nice hotel, great pool
Staff wasn't always concerned with our issues, but did give us a credit for one inconvenience
The sheets were not soft, but felt scratchy/rough and I even rubbed skin off my elbow with them. Maybe use a fabric softener or softer water ??
Facilities are all in excellent condition, especially gardens and pool. Main restaurant very pleasant atmosphere, food very good although some improvement possible. Staff extremely hospitable.
Lack of variation on the menus.
Friendly staff, great location, great breakfast
As we arrived early the room wasn't ready but staff said it wouldn't take long...probably took over 2 hours !!! And we found that the staff involved were not as friendly or helpful as those in the rest of the resort.
Food and beverage quality
Price was a bit steep.
Interactive dinner, fabulous breakfast and the best bed I've slept in - like sleeping on a cloud.
A bit over priced but that's not uncommon in this part of the world.
After allowing for extra geographical costs, the value for money equation is exceptionally poor. Facility is poor.
Travelling to the outback you don't expect too much, but the Sails resort provided an oasis of comfort on the desert. Through the 4 accommodation venues you could find all you needed.
