lovely pool. great location. large well established and landscaped grounds.
The resort is tired and needs a lift. Shame this has not been done already. A simple paint job would go a long way.
Pool area desirable
Rooms need attention
We love the pools and the grounds. We really enjoyed our stay in a balcony room over looking the pool. The relaxed atmosphere and the help from porters getting to our room
The nights we stayed only the bar area and main dinning room were only open, the main dinning room is over priced. Better pricing may encourage people to eat at the resort more, more people creating at busy and better atmosphere in the evenings. I found that some people left towels on chairs and rocks, in one area they were left for 3 days no staff came and picked them up, So I returned them myself.
Seafood buffet was beautiful
Staff were very unhappy to be working there and made our time there uncomfortable
Looking tired needs upgrade
Staff are so helpful, awersome pool, and the meals are great and they have a wonderful selection to pick from. Their shuttle bus to the CBD is a great idea as there are only 3 taxis in Port Douglas.
Comfortable, relaxing and picturesque, the Mirage is a great resort that is growing old gracefully. A refurb will put a it back on the map as one of the best resorts in Oz.
The hotel is well located and the pools are the best of any hotel/resort that i have stayed. Staff are excellent and very helpful. Breakfast is also very good. The hotel is a bit tied but the price reflects this but still a very good place to stay and will definitely return.
All was good.
Service at the pool bar
Access to beach. At one point all the lagoons and pools were beautiful.
Everything was old, tired and in need of repair. They are planning a renovation but should offer lower rates in advance of that.
The pools were great and it is a large facility which was also excellent. The rooms are very spacious. We had a lovely holiday and this is a great destination for children.
Building needs reinvestment - paintwork in particular is tired and now looking really worn. Food in the restaurant is quite overpriced.
Very good staff, facilities & location. Very relaxing stay
Wifi access very slow
location for holidays good
need a cut lunch to get from room to reception and eating areas
The pool was fabulous.....large and a good lay out. Plenty of different areas to swim and easy accessable. The food and buffet was great (delicious).
The staff need to smile and be more friendly. For the price we pay the service is no where up to scratch. The hotel is in desperate need of a revamp. Was disappointed that when I had visited the hotel in April/May they had blowup pool climbing apparatus (an attraction for our kids) but when I asked where it was Management had not renewed the contract.....kids would have loved it. Very disappointed it wasn't there!
Excellent pools. Well positioned.
Getting a bit dated. Needs a revamp.
Rooms very dated
The resort with its pools and ponds are awesome and the location is right on 4 mile beach which is fantastic
house keeping was rare and if i were to be picky the rooms are a little tired but still very nice though dont get me wrong i loved it there i really did but all the controls for lights fans and air con was all part of the bedside table on the far side of the room which was annoying other than that very good with great views
The pools were fantastic!
Room was old - not 5star Buffet Breakfast expensive
The amazing pool(s), the staff were very friendly, warm & welcoming, the buildings may be a little outdated (peeling paint on the outer, older decor etc) but that in no way affected their cleanliness and comfort and beautiful garden/pool views, the short walk to the beach, the beautiful gardens! We had a wonderful, relaxing time.
Our only complaint was the cost of the room service meals, as they were not value for money in our opinion, but this is not a big issue as Port Douglas is packed with so many wonderful places to eat out (or get take-away).
Really only liked the pool and beach access
For the money you pay this place really needs a facelift....very old style. Way to expensive to drink and eat and only one bar around the pool to choose from. We couldn't believe that there was no spa, tennis courts on site and the amount of money you have to pay to use them. Most resorts have this inclusive with a small fee for your racquet. You really don't get anything for your money that's for sure.
Pool and gardens and location
Not being able to get into the room until 3.15pm!!
location, the facilities, food ,the pool, the room- room service
Loved the pools and the beautiful surroundings.Even though it was school holidays and was very busy it didn't feel crowded due to large amount of pools and luxury gardens.plenty of banana lounges and plenty of staff to take food and drink orders. Can't wait to go back
Room furnishings a little outdated but was clean and well serviced daily.Apparently refurbishment is happening shortly
Although the décor is rather tired the facilities are lovely-location on the beach, beautiful grounds and lagoons, sizeable rooms, good soundproofing between rooms, comfy bed.
1. the charge for the shuttle bus into port douglas-It should be complementary. 2. Although we requested a twin room we were given a king. We were 2 unrelated females and the only option offered was that if we didn't want to share a bed, then one of us could sleep on a pull out single. Not a great alternative given the price of the room. Do they make 2 unrelated males share a bed? I think not.
