Southern Cross Atrium Apartments  

The room was ridiculously small, with nowhere to even put a suitcase. Also, I was travelling with my 6 year old son and specifically booked accommodation with (what I thought was) a separate bedroom. The purpose being that I could put him to bed and stay up without being overly concerned about him settling or disturbing his sleep. Well, the living area and the bedroom were separated by very flimsy, completely un-soundproof shutter doors and there was a large open space in the wall (behind the TV!!) covered only by a venetian blind. Therefore, we might as well have been in a single motel room or a studio-style apartmennt for much less cost!!! In fact, it appears the rooms have been converted (very, very badly) to claim they have separate bedrooms. Very disappointing!

The apartments are in a quiet part of the city. They are modern and well maintained. The gardens are tropical and well kept. The pool was very easily accessed from my ground floor room. The kitchenette was stocked with good quality cooking pots and utensils.

The armchairs were too big for the small round table. They were hard to get into and out of. The mattress was a bit firm. I've been spoilt with soft overlays in other hotels and at home. I would have liked to have been able to park my car closer to my room as I had quite a bit of luggage and the luggage trolley was not available. It would be nice if the cafe was open before and after regular work hours.

Close to shopping. Quiet and comfortable with good cooking facility. Short walk to all shopping, restaurants and waterfront. Tours could be booked from the front desk. Good value for the cost.

It was excellent value for money.

More dishwasher/washing machine powder would have been good as well as more tea/sugar etc. A bit noisy as the doorway to the next apartment was so close, but thankfully they weren't there to party!

It was very relaxed. You were given the key to your room, which was spacious and well equipped and then left alone. The pools were quiet and the balconies sufficiently spacious. The foliage was attractive. There was a public barbeque and a useful laundry room to each pool area. There was a drying rack in each room plus ironing equipment and a hair dryer. It was excellent value for money and a comfortable base.

It had a pool side bar which had very reasonably priced food and drinks. We stayed there a total of 8 nights but we never saw it open, which was a shame as it would have made it even better. It is a good 15 minutes walk from the centre of Cairns and the last 5 minutes, from Central station, on the way home is along a very quiet stretch, which may be unnerving for the solo traveller.

We chose these apartments as the location is excellent for visiting Cairns and the surrounding area. We requested an upstairs room and that's what we got, which was perfect. Even though we were there during the Easter holidays it didn't feel too crowded and we even had the pool to ourselves once! The room had everything needed for self catering and was clean and had very reasonable amount of space. The Cairns Central shopping centre is very convenient, being just round the corner.

Apartments very comfortable had everything we needed. All pools and pool areas were clean and very pleasant to spend time at. The price of these apartments was excellent and the apartment and complex well exceeded our expectations.

No complaints about the apartments, location was good 10 min walk to main town and right next to a large shopping mall but at night the area is very quiet and felt unsafe when walking back to the apartments. We are 2 young females and at night there can be quite a few homeless\vagrants hanging around the area. My advice is to take taxis at night.
