Thank you to Natalie who resurrected the poor experience with Rizza. Natalie was very polite and professional. Did not appreciate the service provided by the staff member at reception - Rizza. Very rude, arrogant and condescending. What a liability to the hotel.

The staff approach - very effcient and friendly for people far away from their homes. Super service - always asking if anything is to be done. The concierge services - always keeping promises. The problem with air-conditioning regulation reduces the mark from excllent to good.

I requested on the reservation a quiet room and this was taken into consideration as we were allocated a room on the 14th floor. Due to the good noise insulation, we did not hear any of the road traffic from the busy Railway Square road junctions.

When I had to make arrangments to stay in Sydney whilst I attended the Uni I looked at the various hotels in Sydney and sought the one that was reasonably priced and convenient for me to get to the college on time for an early start and late finish.I Thought the bed was extremely comfortable and I was able to sleep well after two big days of full on study at the acap college in Wynyard. There was no traffic noise which is a plus considering the hotel is surrounded by roads and noisy vehicles on the roads. It is close to the busses and Central railway station which makes it very easy to get around Sydney whatever the client's requirements would be. The staff were very helpful and pleasant to speak with. All in all it was a happy experience. I stayed in room 340 and the management might consider replacing the bathroom door. It was broken on the bottom end and looked particularly poor and I don't think that would be the image that the Mercure wants to convey to its clients. I also would remind the establishment that the handrail over the bath was a little loose and perhaps if a bigger person than me were to pull on it it might become a bit dangerous. I also consider that the use of the computers at $5 per half hour is excessive. I used the ones at the Uni in preference.

Was a great location, walking distance or short taxi/bus to most places around the city. The sheets were amazing...what was the thread count? Our view was of a construction site, the pool was average and the room service was a little pricey.

We were not happy with mecure Sydney , the photos on the website must of been photo shopped as nothing in the hotel came close to those photos , definetly not a four star ! Hotel and pool were dirty , sauna was not maintained , pool was supposedly 28.5 degrees as stated on wall in hotel , but was freezing cold! I didn't like a thing ! The only good thing was that the staff were friendly

The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The bedroom was pleasant, but the care taken for preparing the bathroom was inadequate. Although a couples room, there was only 1 facecloth in the bathroom, the extactor fan was not working and the shower pressure was poor. On our second day there,no soap was provided and the mini bar had not been restocked. All the little things that help to make a stay more memorable.

The room was nicely appointed. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The cost of Wi-Fi was excessive. You could only use Wi-Fi in the lobby; there was no Wi-Fi access in the rooms. The lobby smelled musty. The hotel was quite far from the Circular Quay.

Very centrally located and helpful concierge staff (different from front desk personnel). Internet related comments: far too costly and does not work (wifi) in individual rooms at least it did for a portion of the day and when I returned it did not. I was later advised to use wifi on the 1st or 2nd floor. Mathis should clearly be explained at the time of purchase. Room key: immediately upon check in my room key did not work. Hours later, the same issue. Three times in one day I had key issues. I've stayed in many countries and many hotels (inexpensive hotels to far too expensiven hotels ), I'm well versed on a swipe card. This is inconvenient when traveling and is something that is well in the ability to control by trained front desk personnel.

The location was superb, just 5 minutes walk from the Central Station. The staff was very helpful and practical. The receptionist was successfully managed to get me a room that I requested: city view, non smoking, away from the elevators. One of the concierge helped me call 3 massage places to ask for their operating hours, afterwards he happily showed me directions and how to get around. There's a chain cafe right in front of the hotel serving really great pies and coffee. The 24 hrs convenient store next to, and the open-till-midnight cafes/chain restaurants just across the hotel are also plus points for me.

The staff helped us solve a problem about the type of room we had booked. There was no fuss, and the slight difference did not attract an extra charge. We also had a problem in that the hotel did not at first have a record of our pre-payment, but that was cleared up very quickly. A "toilet" smell in the lobby - over two days.

I like the location, it is close to Tram station and to George street. There is one thing, I do not like it in the hotel, in the reception area, there is a bad smell, it is like sewage smell.

The booking, the checking in and the ease of getting in to our room early made for a very smooth transaction all round. We found it to be just like 'coming home to our own place' with nothing to do but check in and relax. The location was excellent.

The staff were very helpful and the quick taxi service was greatly appreciated. Parking was excellent in that it was not too 'tight' for larger vehicles which we were concerned could be the case (especially given our previous experience with other parking areas in our home town of Perth!). A clean and comfortable room with easy and quick access both to the Rocks (where we were going to dinner) and to the airport for our early morning flight. All this for a very reasonable price - will happily stay again during a future visit. It suited exactly what we needed so wasn't anything that we didn't like.

Great location with city views (extra charge). Simple but clean layout, would stay there again for a weekend trip. Also, convenient to park. New Year's eve prices were a little undesirable, but the location and enjoyment of the weekend made up for it.

Location obviously. Street noise not noticeable, though I was on the 4th floor.Concierge services were efficient. More can be done about the quality of room equipment, eg phones and kettle. They were old and worn. Sewage smell in the lobby every day. Should do something about the air. Walls/doors a bit thin though. Could hear bumps and squeaks from neighbors.
