Free Wifi = NO WIFI! Had to go to the Wooly's down the street to use my laptop.
Serious plumbing issues: Almost all the taps were leaking, falling apart, not working, etc. Wasting loads of water! Most bathrooms and showers were in need of renovation, quite decrepit.
Worst of all - THE KITCHEN! A dark, dingy, dirty place (could someone replace a burned out lamp, please?). In spite of a few half hearted signs, very few people cleaned up after themselves. Because there were some girls who, now and then, washed dishes in exchange for reduced rent. This sends the WRONG MESSAGE to the young people staying there: leave a mess, no worries, someone else will clean up after you! No respect for other guests! Place was "cleaned" between 3 and 4 PM, by 7 PM the sinks were overflowing with dirty dishes, pots and pans, cutlery, etc., counter tops strewn with bits of spaghetti, sauce, and other debris, garbage cans overflowing. And not enough storage space in fridges and "cubby holes", which were allegedly cleaned out once a week, but that is also not true, I found things labeled from weeks before, flies coming out of the cubby holes, moldy things, etc.
Instead of dealing with these issues (renovate kitchens and bathrooms, and POLICE the kitchen), they are busy with making even more dorm space, so the problem will only get worse.
I can deal with noise, kids partying all night, construction, etc., but the appalling state of the food prep area is over the top. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!
Location. Friendly, helpful staff: due to a "misunderstanding", they didn't have my reservation (why? I've never had a problem with Booking.com bookings), and no private room for the first night. They gave me bed in an empty 6 bed dorm for the night, no charge.
Private room was clean, quiet, and had a sink and a fan.
