Hotel staff was very accommodating. We received directions, advice on buying a "My Multi Zone" Day Pass card which saved $. We also bought delicious delicacies from food shops near by and we were offered plates, silverware and glasses from the kitchen to help us enjoy our grazing! I stayed twice within a week. The first booking was an adequate size room, the second booking was a mini sized room, with a 5" sink, so small I could not chance rinsing out my mouth after brushing my teeth, I'd miss the sink completely! Lots of furniture, no room for luggage!

The old English comfort and style of the Hughenden provides a welcome respite in the city. The ecclectic artworks and collectables which included a large array of quality antique and heritage furniture add to the charm. This succeeds in creating a very comfortable home away from home. I loved the "upstairs downstairs" ramblings, library, lounge and my sturdy four poster bed. The meals were excellent and the service good. The staff have lovely natures which make them professional, approachable and nice to have around. The small ensuite bathrooms offer privacy and convenience but they are older so don't expect the marble and glass affair of a Hilton.

There was a nice friendly atmosphere and the staff were great. Really liked the literary touch - many book covers displayed beautifully on the walls. Good breakfast too. Some of the rooms were dark and not very comfortable. Our daughter stayed too and they had a downstairs room which was large enough but dark. Our room was pleasant, but the bathroom was tiny.

We stayed in the hotel about ten years ago when attending a wedding, and this visit was for the same reason. The hotel is close to Bondi Junction where we had to go, is comfortable and has a casual and friendly atmosphere you don't get at the big name hotels. The staff were ready to help with all our requests whether it was to work the TV, call a cab, or arrange early breakfast. We had a beaut meal one night and were relaxed during the whole of our stay. We would stay there again when next in Sydney.

The location was handy to the scg for the football. The on-site parking was also an advantage. The breakfast was not as expected. If they are going to advertise a cooked English breakfast in the weekend room rate, they need to provide a cooked English breakfast, scrambled eggs and mushrooms does not constitute a cooked English breakfast, where were the sausages, bacon, tomato and baked beans???

The atmosphere of the hotel was quiet and friendly. We loved the old furniture and quaintness of the building. Guests can come and go without being checked on. Lounge room was amazing - warm, comfortable and available for us to sit with our friends. Staff were non intrusive but there when needed and exceptionally, calmly helpful. When our flights out were delayed by ash cloud, it took a lot of stress from us to be able to extend our booking. Tv in room pretty awful. I tried to watch Wimbledon but picture was poor

“Great location for tourist attractions and close to transport. Being self contained it was easy to come and go at any time. The apartment was serviced every day and the dish washer made sure there was no work to do. There was washing machine and dryer for longer stays if needed. Grocers and supermarkets are close which made it easy to self cater.” Leeanne, Sheidow Park |
