Score from 48 reviews Wonderful
Clean, comfortable and in the heart of carlton, walking distance to many restaurants
Room right on the interior pool area. Some noise from passersby at night, though not terrible. I wore earplugs, so was okay.
Quiet streets. Comfortable.
It is about a 10minute stroll to the tram station. The rooms weren't very soundproof .
It was in an excellent location close to shops and restaurants as well as being close to city and transport.
Front steps and having to carry bags up stairs, unexpected, a ramp might be a solution.
Value, cleanliness, good breakfast, location
Only one lift
The atmosphere, friendly staff and good breakfast!
Nothing to dislike about it!
Location- breakfast good value.
Don't get a room next to the lift- noisy lack of sleep
location to lygon st , parking
bathroom way too small , could only fit one person at a time , have to back out of bathroom too cramped
I like that i was too early to check in but the reception was quick to give me the best place to go and see and have a coffee. Also took my number and rang me asap today let me know that my room was ready. His name is Michael.
It's close to the city but without the hustle and bustle of the traffic and the shadows of the towering buildings hanging over you. Very peaceful, the wide streets, the trees, and the old town houses, lovely.
Not much not to like for me.
Location was fabulous, would definately stay again.
Staff on check in & check out were friendly but found as i came in & out that staff didn't even lift their head to acknowledge me.
Easy to find, good location. Reception staff excellent to deal with, very helpful and accommodating. Nice comfortable room and bed.
Found a few long hairs around the room.
For a king deluxe room, the bathroom was very small and poorly designed. There is room for a larger bathroom, so why so small?
Loved the Carlton community vibe at the newest farmers market / walking to Melb Fringe festival after lazy lunch around the beautiful pool courtyard ! We ll be back!!!
Ideally located, clean and neat rooms.
Annoyed by early wake up at 7am Sunday morning by the engine noise of coach bus running for some time whilst picking up guests staying at the hotel.
Nice clean rooms
Tiny bathroom sink (impossible to shave), seem to have lots of short term staff who are not so familiar with the property
Perfect location, kind and thoughtful staff, a lovely room, in a hotel just steps away from everything I need. I've been staying at The Travel Inn for 25 years, usually on my own, and feel at home there, always.
Loved the location to Lygon St and the Zoo which were our two main destinations. Room was so clean and well maintained. Didn't swim but the pool looked amazing!
TV was not good. Missing some free to air channels and it took several seconds to change a channel. Not a big deal, but you expect up to date TV in hotels like this.
Loved the 11am checkout (was hugely appreciated). Location, cleanliness and spaciousness of rooms was great. Curtains in room were the best I have experienced for total light blockout!!
Staff at front reception on noisy personal calls (unprofessional). Youths drinking in carpark until 12pm on the Friday night (noise travelled straight to bedroom window) and was loud even though window and curtains were closed.
Good access to taxi service, walking distance to local post office, variety of restaurants in Lygon St, walking distance to IMAX Theatre and Melbourne Museum.
Stairs up to front door, not great for heavy luggage carriers. However, there is car park access to lift into hotel room.
I arrived late in the day and the front staff were very helpful for all my needs and then in the morning the day gentleman was great as well
Lovely classic room (Queen deluxe) with Drummond st view. A couch and coffee table made this room very pleasant.Nice modern bathroom and 11am checkout were all pluses.Reasonable price and secure parking for $15. We will be back
Value for money in a terrific location
