The staff were very friendly.
Woken up several times by loud people next door shouting frequently. The walls were extremely thin, even regular conversation could be heard from the other side. We were going to check out early but had to be in town for work, then we discovered bed bug bites the following day. Would never stay again.
I was surprised that I was charged $10 for contintel breakfast, later on when I was waiting at the front I noticed they had a sign advertising free continental breakfast - very poor advertising
The owners manners and welcoming personality The price The meals The carpark
The bed was a bit old It was a bit dark in room
Central location for what i needed. Very comfy bed and very clean room. Reasonable rate.
Air con very noisy and couldn't use ,even with a room out the back a lot of road noise came through as well. The motel itself is very dated and could do with a upgrade.
We booked a highway room to suit our budget. The noise we were told to expect was not evident. Bed was very comfortable and we had a restful sleep. We will definitely stay here again.
Friendly, helpful staff who offer their local knowledge.
Style of the bathroom, the dispenser soap
Very friendly and helpful owners. Only too happy to help with our queries. Had everything we could want, including an arm chair to relax in-fabulous!
On arrival the woman said there was no booking for us, but offered us a room upstairs for extra money. I brought in my receipt, she then said the room we booked was a highway room and she wouldn't even stay in it, as far as we were concerned the whole building was on the highway. When I asked for a ground floor room that was more money. I was ready to leave. the woman then gave a a ground floor room for $10 more. Beware of booking the highway room there is only one I think it is a store room converted.
Take a booking for a good room and give you an unliveable room and then offer to upgrade you to the original for money. Highway noise was unbelievable
noisy- rooms weren't sealed a bit expensive for us as pensioners.
large room in house dinner fantastic close to everything friendly owners and stuff Wi-Fi included great value for price
no cloth hangers no refill of tea and coffee in service
Very old rooms that need a good airing
Lady at office very helpful originally booked cheaper room turns out that is right next to the highway she offered us a more expensive room at a discounted price so that the traffic wouldn't bother us much appreciated
The bed was nice and firm and the television was large and clear.
We had booked a budget room but it was suggested that we move to a different room to get away from the highway noise but the noise still tunnelled straight up to our room. They got extra money for nothing! Getting in and out when going south was very difficult. Advertised restaurant was closed so that meant we had to do extra driving around a strange city to find a meal.
room was clean and motel was in a good location and the price was right for the room
to crowded with cars
Owner was very lovely, helped me out with a late check-in. Very convenient check-out.
There was this abrupt roaring noise sporadically occurring and at first I was like "Whaaaaaat is that Godzilla? Is that some kind of Godzilla-like creature nearby?" And at the time I was shaving in the shower and I felt rather exposed and defenseless, I dried off soon after and carefully made my way around in anticipation of some kind of hand-to-hand combat I was about to be thrust into. But as it turns out I think it was a pipe somewhere so it was ok. Totally not a deal-breaker. In fact it even turned out to be like a sweet lullaby. Also Eurovision was on and I found it quite boring. Not the Motel's fault I know but still something I didn't like about the trip, it was a real bummer. Luckily I had like a whole season of Arrow to watch so it was ok. Again unrelated to the Motel but it's important people know where I was at. Altogether I'm a fan of the show as I like the DC Comic stuff, at first I found the actor who plays Oliver to be a little limited but honestly he's really grown as the series has gone on I've come to really enjoy it, plus the Barry Allen spin-off is going to be exciting.
Convenience to town centre
Staff service was really good.
The room was quite spacious....toaster and microwave were an added bonus
Quite noisy due to being on the highway
Tropical Gateway was conveniently located. Staff were extremely helpful. Room was quiet (no road noise). Room was clean.
Staff friendly and helpful
Noisy air conditioner
Location was easy to find and access for vehicles was good. The bed was comfortable. Staff were very friendly and made us feel at home. We are arrived late but staff were very accommodating with this.
There is never enough milk for tea and coffee! But this pertains to quite a lot of places, not just the Tropical Gateway Motel. 500mls of milk would be good.
Clean, friendly and easy to get to
road noise and air conditioner noisy
All round it was good value for money. It was clean and the beds were comfortable.
Air-conditioner was too noisy to use at night and the air-conditioner from the next door unit was disturbing as well. Lighting was insufficient for reading in bed.
