THE LOCATION! The closest you can get to the twelve apostles
We chose this hotel mainly because it is so conveniently located just 3 km off the Great Ocean Road behind the main parking area at the 12 Apostles. Staying here we were able to visit the Apostles at dusk and dawn for the best light and avoiding the big crowds. We got one of their little cabins, away from the main building and with an excellent view over the nearby paddocks. Our cabin was equiped with a bed, table and two chairs, kitchenette and a small but well functioning ensuite. We could also sit outside on the front porch.
There are no restaurants closed to this hotel. If you want to go out for dinner or breakfast you can't avoid the 15 minutes drive to Port Campbell. If you plan to cook yourself, bring some food with you, as Port Campbell only has a General Store with a somewhat limited choice of products. We also had some trouble with mosquitos and other insects getting into our room at dusk.
it's really near the view, but still 4km need to drive and not in the road with dust. The room is now clean at all, a strange smell of the pan when cook and full of mosquitos that can't sleep during night.
Staff is very friendly and helpful
Very remote Motel seems to be out of maintenance for a while. Self cooking equipment is not available and only have BBQ grill outside Flies and small insects in the room
Quiet location Nice surroundings Friendly staff Close to major tourist attractions-GOR
Location Staff Cleanliness
Couldn't get an evening meal
John & Dianne were great hosts, warm & friendly. Peace and quiet. Ease of access to the 12 Apostles. The best alarm clock in the world with birds twittering outside our window.
Would have liked to have dinner on site.
The location which is very near the twelve apostols and the quietness of the place
the room is very narrow and the equipment a little old
Very quiet place, very friendly people, excellent food in the restaurant
We Arrived very late, and they were so happy and helpful despite being such a late hour. The room was clean and the sleep was great. It was a 1 min drive to the 12 Apostles which was closer than we could have hoped for. The only downer was we only stayed for 1 night and had to move on. Thanks heaps Twelve Apostles Motel & Country Retreat...
Stayed because of the anticipated views (up a hill nr 12 Apostles). Bit disappointing.
Location close to 12Apostles
Owner gave a lecture on costs of running the place & other problems. Suspect sheets not changed. Restaurant not open, but room service available. 2+km drive on dirt rd to get there. Might be ok in summer but take own linen just to be sure. Very old (1950s) style.
Owners, unique location so close to the 12 Apostles site and out in natural surroundings. Very reassuring owners who explained our tricky route, made us a snack after restaurant had closed down.
Finding the place especially after dark Mosquitoes in cabin which needed to be killed before settling down
Very close to Apostles, friendly staff.
Cabin was very tired. Impossible to shut out light from next cabin due to no curtain. Outdated furnishings. Overpriced for quality of room
Great hosts. Fantastic position near 12 apostles and very quiet. Good bed.
Cabin getting old and tired but okay. Cooking facilities not great but adequate. No blinds to stop morning light.
Amazing, beautiful, warm, comfy, lovely people. My partner and I got caught in a storm and decided to stay at the nearest hotel rather than drive home in horrible weather. We love the country life so for us this hotel was "A Slice of Heaven". Not knowing what we booked on the net until we got there was a bit like "oh dear I hope its nice and not a run down building" Upon arrival we were gob smacked!!! This place is 100% relaxing Tranquility. The room was cute spotless clean and warm. The next morning we had room service for breakfast and it was amazing yummmy. We highly recommend you stay here its a beautiful place and the Owners are just wonderful people who make you feel like you've known them forever. We are definatly rebooking for summer to get away from the city and go explore more places that we missed. A big thumbs up from us. Mark & Cynthia.
The restaurant wasnt open the night we stayed which wasnt a big deal and did not bother us one bit, its what happened next that we didnt like. We drove 12kms to Port Campbell had dinner a local pub which was delicous and affordable. However after dinner we discovered some one/people had stolen our Towbar/ball off our Ute. They went to great effort to remove it as they would have needed to lay right up under the ute to unpin it and remove it. Funny thing is they put back the pin. Wasnt impressed as we tow a huge trailer for work everyday. Anyway we got back home bought a new one and bolted it on so tight that even the incredible hulk will struggle removing it. This could happen anywhere so don't take it as a negative I just want people to know and be wary of their belongings. Also hoping that one day the theifs will read this review. Wishful thinking.
A gorgeous little motel nestled in the countryside near the 12 apostles. You can't beat the location. Very private and lovely spot for some quiet relaxing. We were traveling with our 14 month old and they had the cot all ready to go. It was hassle-free.
The restaurant wasn't open the night we stayed (Monday night). Which meant we had to drive to Port Campbell - its only 20 minutes away but it would have been nice to have food available on site.
Waking up to a sunrise over a paddock, no noise other than wildlife, ads on TV for Alice Springs, Mt Isa and Townsville!
Up a dirt road, slightly dirty bathroom.
scenery, nature, surrounding and staff hospitality.
the room...nicely appointed and clean; the location - away from the maddening crowd.
Great location, friendly staff. It was good place to stay.
