We'd like our room made up before 4pm.
Furnishings and fittings and old world charm
Felt run down and shabby
The food was excellent. Roof top bar was great. Staff helpful and courteous. Our room was peaceful and comfortable. We loved it.
It was all good but room was a little dusty.
Beautiful old building, great king size bed, clean, great breakfast available in beautiful dining room.
Restricted hours at office.
The bed was excellent and the room with a balcony was good. The food was excellent too. The old world charm appealed. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The place is worn out. The surface around the vanity was lifting and the carpet on the stairs was very well worn. There was no consistency with room service - sometimes tea bags were left, not always. Sometimes there would be three towels and on other days four towels. When it rained there was a huge leak over the balcony, which was reported.
Free wifi, location
Not enough soaps, hard pillows and bed. Late housekeeping. Pay tv didn't work. Breakfast was cold and not much of it.
All round an excellent place to stay.
Beautiful historic building and must have been exceptional in its day
Unable to book for the dining experience , no details online until you're there. We enjoyed eating fine food at other nearby establishments
Fawlty Towers dinner was amazing. Great dining hall!
Balcony room was comfortable and balcony was very relaxing.
The hotel is worn and needs refurbishment. Breakfast was very basic. Stuck to toast. Hot food was univiting and toasted muesli was burnt!
love the old world charm
The staff were very attentive and pleasant The place was generally comfortable
Cleanliness of the court yard floor 80s decor. No exhaust in bathroom Breakfast was not of a high standard Bedroom seat not comfortable
selection at breakfast and staff in the dinning room.
Rooms were cramped for Families travelling with Children. No Facilities for Children No tables and Chairs in the room.
the victorian decor, the staff, the breakfast, fabulous fine dining at dinner, the walks and the town
The community feel of the town where business people were friendly and helpful
No negatives were experienced.
The history of the hotel with its period decor; the wonderful breakfast in the grand dining room; the helpful & courteous staff; the prime location in the main street shopping precinct, close to everything.
The hotel appeared a bit run down and we found out it is for sale. We were initially overcharged, which caused us some concern, but this has been thankfully rectified. We did not realise we would not have any decent view from our room - just looked out onto other parts of the building.
bed little soft bar closed
Staff and the food. Their chef is only 24 however he cooks like nothing I have ever tasted before. The staff were wonderful and I just can't peak highly enough of the experience. Should be 5 stars
There really wasn't anything I didn't like
The lead light windows. Breakfast. As they had a theme night in their restaurant, which did not appeal to us, we had dinner at the Queenscliff Inn across the road, which was excellent!
The noise in the hallway and reception area when trying to sleep. The fact that there was a sitting area right outside our window where patrons could drink and be merry (not late at night apparently) The overpowering air freshener smell in our room. The darkness of the room. The single desk chair in our room, we had to sit on the bed.
Position and charming building
Only 12/15 people in restaurant and turned us away as it was "full" Had lovely meal else where and will probably stay there next time.
A lovely heritage hotel
Queenscliff is not far from Melbourne, surrounded by wineries, great views and walk tracks. Vu Grand did not disappoint. Friendly staff, good information about eating options in town, and good value with large bed, balcony, breakfast & wifi.
People smoking on next balcony.
Old and dirty
