The old fashioned charme The very friendly host The beautiful gardens The lovely breakfast
The owner is as genuine as they come. Very nice and great to talk to. Really enjoyed my stay, very cosy and great breakfast!
That I was there for business and not a holiday!
The building has an old world charm and the hosts are engaging and happy to discuss the history of the B&B. It was a nice base to explore the Hobart Region and then return to a relaxed environment.
This is a heritage house full of local history; Mike is a welcoming host & very knowledgeable of the area. We stayed in the Hunter room - smaller than expected in such a grand house but adequate for our 3 night stay (bed very comfortable & the sherry night cap was enjoyable), however the en-suite is quite 'snug', (apparently where the original fireplace used to be..!!) & therefore not much turning space if you are tall people. Rooms are serviced daily. Cooked breakfast was good. We stayed in several Heritage B&B's whilst travelling Tasmania & Westella is looking somewhat 'tired'; Mike did tell us he was renovating/refurbishing so when completed should look quite resplendent when restored to its original state. As it is at the moment we would be inclined to rate it as a 3 star.
As we were there during the beginning of April, early morning/evening was chilly therefore the log fire in the breakfast room being lit would have been appreciated and made the house 'cosy'.
Location was beside the highway
Hosts were very helpful and gave us history of the house and the local area. Breakfast was great.
The house and decorations are quaint, although in need of a face lift. The shared sitting room was nice.
There were live weevils in the breakfast cereal. The house is quite close to a busy highway and the traffic noise on Friday and Saturday nights was disturbing. The garden was untidy with a lot of dead flowers and undergrowth. The manager automatically debited our payment without offering us a receipt, whereas other establishments booked with booking.com go through the account and give a receipt.
Close to penguin area where they come ashore at night.
It was exactly as described in Booking.com information. Friendly, informative owner
Staff very helpful
Full of character and comfortable accommodation. Mike was very helpful and offered plenty of useful guidance. Breakfast was excellent.
Had always wanted to see Westella and wasn't disappointed. Lovely place to stay. Room was good and loved the breakfast. Good value for money.
There was nothing to dislike.
Bit run down ,compared to online photos . Needs a lesson from The Lodge in Hobart - miles apart .
Good location, very helpful
Small en suite
Friendly helpful staff, historical house
Bit noisy during the day due to proximity to highway, but OK at night
We were warmly greeted and well looked after,
Breakfast was a bit average and served a little too promptly, I suspect it was cooked a little before the time requested , not a good idea to be late
The owner was interesting and helpful, the property lovely. We enjoyed the historical significance of Westella.
Breakfast needs some attention.
Next to a dual carriage way and over looking an industrial complex, not just a rose garden and the Bass Straiht as described when booking.
Friendly host, good breakfast options, host happy to have a chat about the history of the place and to recommend dinner options/markets worth visiting
Absolutely gorgeous old building. Friendly reception, would return again when in Ulverstone. Lovely breakfast. Recommend to anyone.
Rooms were clean and comfortable and host was friendly and cooked a lovely breakfast. Westella was in a convenient position to travel to many different tourist attractions. We enjoyed our stay there and wouldn't hesitate in booking there again.
The host of Westella is friendly and helpful (we arrived late and he kindly accommodated us). The interior of the house is thoughtfully presented and the bed was VERY comfortable. Westella is convenient if you need to drive (15 mins) to catch the Spirit of Tasmania.
