Nice resort, but too crowded and over booked.
We requested 2 double beds because we had 4 adults. When we checked in they only had a queen with a "pull out." We were concerned that our request wasn't being honored, and the manager that checked us in swore the "pull out" was a full queen mattress pulled out from under the bed. We asked several times because we did not was a pull out sofa. When we got to the room, we found out the pull out was a twin size sofa bed. There was not enough space, and the air mattress they offered was not comfortable at all.
Comfortable, peaceful, and a very friendly place to relax !!
Attractive facility. Good food. Enjoyed the beach bar. Dinner experience at Ruth's Chris was a highlight. Bathroom was a good size
No beach chairs were available on our first two days. No beach "huts" were available during our entire stay unless we wanted to wait in line for hours for one of the very few complimentary huts. The beach was overwhelmed by the number of guests. Hotel assigned us a room suitable for three people (king bed and a single roll out bed) although we booked a room for four people. One person had to use an air mattress. Hotel room charge was higher than I had been quoted on booking.com and one other discrepancy would have resulted in an overcharge if I had not carefully reviewed bill. Aruba makes a bundle on taxes and it must be going into pockets because the island is not that great in my opinion. Upon arrival at the airport we waited in line almost two hours just to get through customs. Admittedly it was a very busy travel day, but you would think that authorities would plan for that since tourism is obviously their primary industry.
Location Restaurants on resort Adult only pool section
Expensive 15% - 20% surcharge to everything (!) Booked "premium ocean view" was not respected at first. Had to argue with staff ;-(
Everyone that we interacted with at this resort had left us with a feeling that we were very important to them and that they sincerely wanted to help us enjoy our stay. From the moment that we arrived until the moment we left we experienced smiles, enjoyable conversations and pleasant interactions with all of the staff throughout the entire property. When we returned home we were able to recall our experiences and the names of a dozen employees, that is how personable the culture is at this resort. We have never had such a wonderful experience. The property is beautiful, the facilities 5 star, the meals and buffets world class. We will return soon.
Our king bed was harder than we are used to, but the view from the balcony made that insignificant.
Service by May was excellent
beautiful experience, friendly staff, our door key was not working and was fixed immediately after it was reported. service and facility are the best. we're interesting in the time share ownership for next year vacation.
non that i can think of at this point
Great hotel with busy lobby. Excellent staff service. Great menu, service and quality of food at la Vista restaurant.
Matresses in need of change and room needs renewal. We had a bad experience dining at Ruth Christ restaurant, the cath of the day fish I ordered was raw and my husband's prime rib nothing special.
There are 3 marriott hotels linked together & you can use the facilities of 2 of them. The adults only pool is a fantastic idea (bliss). The whole complex has amazing landscaping which is beautifully maintained. The rooms were very comfortable & well furnished with air conditioning throughout the entire hotel (vital).
I always trust the reviews of other travellers on this website & always give an honest review to others in return. I stayed for 2 weeks on my honeymoon & when I checked out I was shocked to find that I had to pay an additional $870 in taxes which I was totally unaware of. This hotel is ridiculously expensive...!!!! In the hotel shop I was charged nearly $10 for 2 bottles of water, at the lobby bar it cost $20 for 2 drinks (spirits). The La Vista restaurant is a total rip off as is the cost of Ruths Chris Steakhouse. Champions sportsbar shows nothing but American sports & no value for money to be found here either. If you come from a country where tipping is not the norm you will be totally confused as the staff expect to be tipped despite you being charged service charge on most things. The cabanas & beach palapas were a complete rip off at $75 for one cabana per day & service charge added on after that. The pool/beach attendants were running a scam taking bribes to hold sunbeds with parasols for certain guests despite them supposedly being on a first come first served basis. I know this as I was at the adult pool at 7am most mornings (opening time) & all the parasol beds were "taken" despite there being no guests there. The lack of sun protection at the pools was disturbing because if you didn't get a parasol you had no protection from the midday sun. I felt that at the very least every guest using the pool/beach area should be entitled to sun protection given the exorbitant prices being charged. Be prepared also to be harassed to death to buy a timeshare in the Marriott resort, in short be prepared to spend $'s bigtime here.
Facilities were great.
Staff did not make an effort.
The room was clean and very comfortable, with a nice view to the pool and the beach. The food service in the room was a fast and high quality one
Central air-conditioning was set at a very cold temperature. I felt very much the change every time I entered to the hotel
Large resort, various facilities, nice beach, fun for the whole family
Lot's of iguana's walking around
Room size, swimming pool
Bathroom got socking wet when showering and food was good but not excellent
Long time to get the room. Even if i had asked for an early checking. The staff of hertz at the hotel, very rude and bad mood.
Lovely rooms with great balconies with ocean views. The resort was very well taken care of...
Certain members of the staff weren't quite as friendly and helpful as I would've expected...also spent a lot in food and drink.
Facilities are very nice and well maintained
Buffet restaurants are expensive for people eating in a moderate way Check-in takes too much time
The resort is huge and have many activites, all the staff was considerate.
I've asked for a king bed and when I arrived they haven't had disponibilty for these room to make things worse I asked for a late check out and they also couldn't help me despite of being a tradewings client. The space for tradewings client are very tight and expensive.
Loved my stay here for many reasons; beautiful inside/out;clean/landscaping gorgeous & kept up/friendliness of ALL staff;food fresh all around, best bet for your dollar would be eatery in lobby area, morning & evening; ambiance in lobby in evening is lovely with LOW lighting, nice seating area & bar, dj fri/sat; ate also @ lavista restaurant, buffet style, fresh food but too pricey pp,show there on thursdays was nice, colorful, lively. Sushi bar available in bar/lobby area, good food. LOVED SEPERATE ADULT ONLY CARD ACCCESS POOL TIKI BAR AREA!!! The very reason I will be back 2015. Loved cabanas in this area too. Room was clean, good housekeeping, not a bug to be found, thank goodness!!
Only ONE thing....the gym; unfortunately had to leave a comment to management during my stay; simply put it smelled awful! They totally need a better ventilation system & increase a/c, now with that being said, after my comment, & i was not alone, I did see staff CLEANING equipment more vigorously thereafter, definitely improved odor. I have been working out for over 25yrs & I have NEVER experienced this @ my gym. I was bummed @this b/c I was thrilled they had gym facility when I booked. Lastly, the gym was ACTIVELY used on a daily basis by many guests.
Getting a glass of sparkling wine and watching the sunset.
The great difficulty getting shade/a hut. To secure a hut you had to be up at the crack of dawn or wait 40 minutes in a line beginning at 3:20 pm. And there is still a possibility you will not get a hut. The sun is brutal so shade is essential. On vacation, this should be easy. Solution is simple-- Get more huts or invest in umbrellas. This is a deal breaker for us coming back to Marriott Aruba.
Palapas reserve cockroach in the room Taxes Housekeeping too late
The pools where great. The beaches where great. The room was great,in spite of the roof and loud air handelers on the roof. We will be back!
Getting up at 6:30 in the morning to get a palapa. The food on the buffet was marginal at best. The head door man was not very friendly and acted like he was doing us a favor, in spite of generious tips
The staff was very friendly and helpful!
My stay was too short !!
There are two swimming pools. One is only for adults, it's cool. We had a junior suit with beautiful view. This hotel has a good, clean beach. There are several good cafes for the breakfast is not far from the hotel.
No minibar and free water. When I understood it, I had to order bottle of water by room service. It costs 8$. Room has poor insulation from noise, I heard all my neighbors. Junior suits don't have bathtub. Restaurants in the hotel are not very good. Breakfast was average and coffee was bad. A lot of people on the beach. And last one: the hotel is far from the main plaza (20 min walks) and from the city (20 min by car).
Nice comfortable rooms and the staff is very friendly. Also the location is one of the best for the High Rise part of Aruba.
Breakfast was included in the room and still booked separately on our credit card. We double checked and also when we checked out, a bit a shame that is still going wrong, so always check your credit card bills with this hotel. Waiting to get our money back after we complained about it.
