After having read a few reviews my expectations were very low, I was afraid of what I got myself into and I was pleasantly surprised. I would be back. Directions getting to melbourne is almost non-existent and it is not altogether on the regular bus route for persons on a budget.

Staff were very friendly and were always on hand to help ie: booked taxis and tables at restaurants for us. Balcony was an extra, nice to relax on in the morning. Rooms were very clean and Inn was very near to the beach and the Gap. A budget hotel so you get what you pay for. This accommodation is located on the map on booking.com incorrectly!!!! On the map, it is located on 4th Ave (off Pine Road), near Bridgetown/Carlisle Bay. When I received my confirmation email, the driving directions also took me to this location. The Inn is in fact located on St Lawrence Gap which is many miles away. I have reported this to both the Inn and booking.com but as yet, has not been amended. The hot tub is out of use and is covered over with plastic.

nice balcony; missing lock replaced the day I asked; air conditioning worked despite inability to control temperature so 27 degrees was the lowest it would go (no change after complaint); staff pleasant if usually not at the desk; other rooms appeared better than mine. It was close to shops and a nice beach, surf school etc. in the most crowded seaside area. Room not entirely clean at the start and not cleaned or made up the entire 4 days I stayed; corrugated roof nearby meant rain was so loud it woke me up; bedside lights not working, wires coming out of the wall, not fixed despite notifying manager; very shabby; rusty shower and fridge; no kettle

They didn't give what they promise. TV didn't work. Said it could be fixed next day, doesn't helped me as I was there only for one night. No compensation or solution was given. Receptionist or manager wasn't very friendly or helpful. Would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone!

The booking/advert said breakfast but when enquired there was no breakfast. So had to go out to look for samewhere to eat The advert said Hot tub - The tub looked like it had not been used for a long time, the owner said that tub had not been used for 2 weeks and that it was leaking so no one could use it anyway

Absolutely nothing!! My comments should help spare anyone else the insult of staying in such a dump. Booking.com should be mindful of loosing credibility for recommending such establishment without proper vetting.

The manager of the hotel was very helpful. She provided information for public transport and for airport transfer suggested the nice friendly taxi driver David. When I had problems with immigration authorities at the airport, they called her and she confirmed my booking. She was really angry with the treatment that some people of immigration control offer to tourists. Despite the problems I encountered in some cases in Barbados I felt better and more secure thanks to her and David the taxi driver. The things I did not like are purely related to what happened outside the hotel during my stay. The are of the hotel is Dover which is equidistant between the airport and the capital Bridgetown. The map with the location of the guesthouse provided by booking is not accurate. There is an area around the supermarket "Dover market" which is not very friendly to solo lonely travelers. Some people there are aggressive in their selling strategies and I didn't like that. There were no security problems, but it is annoying to have to cross a street with people just commenting on any single tourist. The other thing is that according to my experience some Barbados authority personnel at immigration checkpoints of the international airport are really not professional whatsoever. Barbados relies on tourism, and a better behaviour combined with high security standards is still possible. I really don't understand why not trusting my booking printout and making me waiting 15 minutes at the check point just to go and phone the guesthouse to verify my booking. This is unacceptable particularly knowing that I spent nearly 1000 us dollars for the flights from Europe to Barbados and an extra 900 us dollars for the Caribbean island hopping with liat, the Caribbean local air carrier. The good bit is that even in places where somebody is facing problems there is always chance to meet nice people on the same time. To put it briefly, most people in Barbados are friendly, but some exceptions spoil the good image. Grenada, St Vincent and St Lucia were the places which I also visited and where I met friendlier and more polite people.

Gerda, Niederlande
