Although I wouldn't say this was strictly a 4-star hotel, more like a very good 3-star, the hotel was excellent. The little gym was very handy, the breakfast was varied and there was plenty of it (although it didn't change from day to day, there was enough choice to keep you interested). The staff were friendly and the rooms very clean. The only downside for me were the beds were very soft, which personally I don't like. But the location was great, really easy to walk into the main areas of interest in town. Plus, loads of chocolate shops right outside!

Location - it was just 10 mins walk from the train station and close to everything we wanted to see and do in Bruges. The hotel was very basic and not 4 star. The cold breakfast was adequate, however the hot food was uninviting. Tables were laid with one small plate and one cup and saucer each. There were no other plates available, while this wan't a big problem, it was inconvenient. The restaurant was not open at any other time. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room, (2 tea bgs and 2 coffee sachets) with a notice that if you wanted more tea or coffee you could purchase this from reception! Overall there was nothing terrible about this hotel, it just lacked finese.

The hotel was convenient to railway station and all sightseeing and shopping needs. This is important in Brugge as this must all be done by walking round the city. The service was good, with friendly reception staff. Breakfast was good with lots of choices in continental style

Location, staff, room, breakfast were all good. WiFi in the room was poor. Academie could consider putting cabled internet in the rooms.

Location is pretty good. Not in overcrowded touristic downtown but just 10 min by walk from it. It’s minimize noise and rush. Calm, peaceful surrounding with plenty of restaurants, café, shops etc. Also 10 min to the Railways Terminal. It’s quite convenient if you stay not only in Brugges but travelling around Brabant. Staff is OK. We stayed 3 nights in the wing under reconstruction and since 7am builders started their work and it’s absolutely terrible. In general soundproofing is very low. Minisafe in the room is on top of wardrobe and even with my 6’1’’ was too hard to open and close it. Wi-Fi even in the lobby was too weak. Breakfast in principle OK but completely crude baking and lack of plates (it’s just one small plate served and you have to ask for it) makes it’s extremely bad.

The location was very convenient. It's an easy walk to the train station, yet it's close to everything. Our 3-person room was spacious for European standards. The hotel was modern and clean. Staff were helpful and spoke good English. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.

The Staff was very helpful; upon check-in you recieve a local map of Brugge and site information. The room was beyond expectations and the breakfast was worth every penny and more. The ease of local parking was fantastic. Loved our stay. Love Brugge.

Good location - short but nice walk into the city centre. Lots of shops & restaurants in the vicinity. Breakfast was very nice and there was plenty on offer. There is a very nice tea room/patisserie right in front of the hotel.

Good location near The Beguinage which is a particularly beautiful and peaceful area of Bruges, with many cosy cafes and restaurants. Hotel is basic and does not warrant 4*. In need of complete refurbishment. Bedroom very plain and decorated in ugly colours I.E. brown and orange. Why, oh why did a hotel in a city stuffed with scenic gems at every corner put a huge, terracotta picture of Monument Valley, Arizona in the bedroom?! Booked for three nights, was so disgusted at the cheapness of everything, checked out after one night.

Not a 4 star hotel! For the character that Bruges exudes our room was cold and boring. No thought or care had been put into it- not one picture on the wall. In the bathroom, also devoid of any character a board was used instead of a shower screen plunging the showerer into darkness. Breakfast was pretty hideous..one member of staff ran the whole affair and could not even look at us let alone say good morning. We arrived at the breakfast start time and the 'hot' food was already lukewarm and rubbery. All up ...including parking and breakfast we paid 193 euros..the location was great, but no excuse for so little care. Absolute classic was the milka (Swiss!) chocolate which came with the coffee that we ordered from the bar. When asked if the chocolate was not Belgian.. we were told 'no..but it's cheap!'

We chose this hotel as it was right in the city and had its own secure underground parking (a must given the narrow streets and comparable with other parking - 15 euro/night!). The staff were friendly and very helpful, the room was spacious and clean. We had breakfast on the second morning (9 euros), there was plenty of it and all freshly cooked. It was also a quiet hotel, which was great after a heavy day out in the cold. There was some renovation work going on - the lift and corridor down to the room were requiring finishing when we went, but this was a very minor point and likely to be finished off soon.

Great location, price and lovely spacious, clean rooms. Staff also very helpful and cheerful. The email confirming that you need to reserve the underground parking (which was one of the main reasons for choosing this hotel for me) should have this point highlighted. Having it as part of a long email means it is easy to miss (which I did) and then you get the suprise that the parking is booked out. Did not end up being a big issue but would definitely be something i recommend you do in future.

Very well located, friendly. Good sized bedrooms and it was nice to have a bath as well as a shower in the bathroom. Breakfast was very good. It was great to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Not really a complaint, but a bin would have been useful in the bedroom, as would some note paper and a pen.

“What a lovely suprise the Flanders was. If you read enough on the 'net you can end up really confusing yourself, but I can honestly say everything about our stay, the room, the staff, the location and the breakfast exceeded our expectations. Room was well proportioned, warm and welcoming with spotless bathroom and comfortable (oversize) bed. Our late arrival made the late check-in and tea-making facillities a lifesaver! Staff were very helpful and the location was five minutes from central Bruges - Hotel Flanders really made our stay one to remember. ” Michael, Liverpool |
