Whilst the overall impression of Afrodite was very good, there were one or two niggles!
The shower room was modern but not very user-friendly. The lighting was rather dim, the shower cubicle had nowhere to put your soap, shampoos etc. and the floor was very slippery.
The 'double bed' was in fact two single beds held together by a double headboard - the mattresses were very soft indeed and tended to slide all over the place! The back of one of the arm chairs was broken.
Our main gripe was that although details of our card were given to the agency when we made the booking, we were told on arrival that payment was by cash only! As we had booked for two nights, we were not prepared to have that amount of cash on us. This was not clearly stated on the booking form and probably we would have gone elsewhere if we had realized that it was cash only.
It was a shame to have these niggles because Dirk and Heidi were excellent hosts.
The house was easy to find and in a quiet part of town, with its own parking and access to the roof-top patio.
Dirk and Heidi, the owners, were very friendly and helpful - Dirk, also a local guide, has excellent knowledge of the WW1 sites and their history. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice.
