A lovely hotel in a quiet location, very comfortable, easy to find and park near. All of the staff were lovely, and so helpful, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and would recommend it to everyone.
Location and staff
Service and helpfulness of staff
Single rooms a tad small
Lovely hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast.
easy access to the Mennin gate. Excellent breakfast. Polite staff
Location very good and the staff veryhelpful
The narrow stairs and street parking
Good location, close but not too close to centre. Comfortable bed. Good breakfast.
Great staff, location, cleanliness. First Class visit. I`ll be back I`m sure.
The only minor niggle is no kettle etc. in the room. There are facilities in the lobby though, so very minor!
Location Staff are fantastic Room clean
We loved the well-appointed Ambrosia hotel. Our family group occupied 4 rooms, each of which were beautifully decorated and comfortable. The freshly cooked breakfasts were a bonus and set us up for our day trip to the WW1 cemetry and neighbouring museums. We had a memorable trip and would definitely return to the Ambrosia Hotel when we visit Ypres again.
We found nothing to dislike about the Ambrosia.
Very welcoming owner who took the time to tell us about the area and recommend attractions based on the length of our stay. The hotel is very well located, a 5 minutes walk from the centre square and the Menin Gate. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and there was also plenty of pastries, fruit and cereal. The vending machine with beer and wine was a nice touch, as were the glasses and bottle opener.
The room for four was rather small and compared to a purpose built hotel, not particularly well designed for more than one night. The shower room was very small too. The door to the room opened directly onto the winding stairway serving four or five rooms so we could hear people walking up and downstairs. We could also hear people moving around above us in the morning. Although I have stated these points as negatives, they are only to be expected in an old building converted to a B&B and would not be a problem for one or two nights. I would think hard about staying for more than this with a young family.
Having stayed in July 2014 I found this great little hotel in a wonderful location. The lass on reception and who also cooked my breakfast the next morning was just terrific. A wonderful introduction to the hotel. The room was fine for a solo traveller and overlooked a quaint little road that although so close to the town square was very quiet. The bathroom and the room itself was very clean and had everything I required. The free coffee was most appreciated after a day of touring. Everything was positive about this little gem of a hotel. Nothing
Not one complaint.
Location Staff Everything
We loved everything about the hotel. It is our second time staying at the Ambrosia and would recommend it to everyone.
There was nothing that we didn't like
The staff were lovely and helpful. Place immaculately clean. Facilities excellent and location grill.
Staff, hotel, area, breakfast, facilities are all excellent.
Slightly expensive for a night but as it is well placed in the town it has to be expected.
Central locality Hospitality of owners - willing to help with directions, laundry on-site, hiring out their own bicycles or scooter. Excellent tea/coffee machine in foyer - free to guests... wonderful coffee!!! Provision of own map of local area, better than that from Information Centre. Delicious breakfast. Very clean & tidy room
Small towels No top sheet. No a/c in rooms (environmental reason given & understood) but ceiling fans could be alternative.
We liked this hotel very much the staff are brilliant as was are room.
The Hotel Ambrosia is a lovely, friendly and comfortable hotel in the middle of Ypres. The owners and staff are extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. The rooms are simple but very comfortable and the breakfast options will suit all tastes. We were very pleased we chose the Ambrosia and give it the highest recommendation. Thank you!
The friendliness an attention from the owners of the hotel were unbeatable. So helpful in all counts and they work very hard to make sure that their clients have a lovely stay.
Just off the main square Beautifully cooked breakfast
The Ambrosia was ideally situated a few minutes walk from the main square. The welcome was friendly and professional. The rooms were spacious, stylish and clean. The owners were helpful, providing lots of local info and tips. Breakfast was good - a range of continental offerings and the choice if a cooked breakfast with bacon and egg. All in all - we would recommend to anyone visiting Ypres and wanting a personal and friendly hotel.
Central location, proximity to the Menin Gate, friendliness and helpfulness of owner and staff.
Steep stairs and no lift. This is awkward when you are getting on in years! No dedicated parking - beyond the owners control but still a bit of a problem. Common to most hotels in Ieper, I guess.
