The location right next to the River Schelde is excellent and it is a 5 minute walk to the Grote Markt and other attractions. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good, eggs, ham, cheese, bread, cereals etc. Our bed was very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. The decor could do with updating, but it's an old building.

The staff were helpful and the room was very clean. The location of the studio at the back of the hotel is quite noisy in the evening.

The location of Hotel Antigone is really good - it is beside the river so there is a good feel of holiday. The staff were extremely helpful and went to great efforts to find information about journeys and trains times etc. The breakfast was excellent - again friendly staff and a good choice of food. Even the fact that only one person at a time could go in the lift seemed to be OK because the hotel was small enough for it always to be available. Only the lift - which we managed with anyway.

The hotel was very easy to find and the location is very convenient to the city centre. The lady at reception was very friendly and helpful with tourist information etc. She seemed to speak many languages. Hotel had a small parking area, though it also looked like there was pay parking across the road and pay parking in the street. Out room was pleasant and a reasonable size for a triple. The road out front was busy so I'm glad we were put in a room facing the side street. Tea and coffee making facilities was a nice touch too. It looked like there were plenty of restaurants in the immediate area if you didn't want to wander far for dinner. Breakfast was good, all the usual suspects. The only hot food seemed to be hard boiled eggs, but plenty of other things to choose from. I think the Antigone was quite expensive for the quality of the hotel, but all the hotels in Antwerp were surprisingly expensive and the Antigone was no different.

The location, at the Scheldt, close to the city centre and the MAS museum is perfect. Room was big, with a couch, coffee and tea maker. Seen the price of the room, the breakfast was quite extensive. The shower gave little water and it did not become really hot. The bathroom was cold as well, so all in all it was not easy to warm up under the shower,

This hotel was very good value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect as it was only a short walk to the old town and Christmas markets. Very comfortable bed and a good shower. Also a kettle in the room with tea etc. and a hairdryer. A bit of a 'drainy' smell in the bathroom.

Convenience for historical sites, riverside views and shops. Very easy walking distances. Reservation of a car parking space just by the backdoor of the hotel was an excellent facility.

The staff was excellent, as was the location. We were a five minute walk from the Grote Markt. Breakfast was included in the price, and was decent and convenient. We were able to park next to the hotel for 15 euros/day. WiFi was free and worked well in our top-floor room. The room was less than clean. There were hairs in the bed, and pillows were lumpy and stained. There was a large car park across the street, which obscured any river views, so it didn't matter much to have a river location. I would recommend this place only to those who are not picky. Because of the staff, location and free WiFi (and relatively low cost at 95/night for a double), I would stay here again, despite the lack of cleanliness.

Helpful friendly staff. Good price and location. Hit head on ceiling in attic room with sloping roof over bed. Hot. No bedside light reachable. Dangerous little set of stairs to room, low windows and seriously dangerous main stair (illegal in UK) so grateful not to have any young children.

The personnel was very friendly, my room and the bathroom were very clean. There was a nice smell in the room each time I'd come in. I also liked the Senseo machine. I could make coffee and tea in the room. The breakfast buffet was also great. The window faced an interior fire escape, but that wasn't so bad because I was out almost all the time and the purpose of the room was to sleep and wash myself. The time when the breakfast starts is confusing (on the door of the room says for weekends 7:30am but at the reception they tell you 8:15am) but when I said I have to leave at 8am they were very friendly and prepared it earlier that day.

It was close to the old town. Nice view from the top floor. Even if I've asked to have a place reserved at the hotel parking for the day I arrived there and I received the confirmation that a parking lot was reserved for me, when we arrived there I was told not very polite that the parking is full and that I have to park my car on a public parking. When I wanted to know why do I not have a parking lot free the answer came quickly and rude " the parking is full so there is nothing to do". I was also asked to pay the hotel room in advance in the moment I arrived otherwise they wold not give me the room key, this never happened to me before and I'm travelling alot allover the world. The breakfast was very poor for the room price.

“Very good location. Close to Station and centre. The hotel is modern but fairly basic. No frills and does exactly what is says on the tin - so to speak. Clean and comfortable with a very good breakfast. A few signs of slight tattyness around high use areas such as bathrooms but all in all pretty good. Good free wi-fi.” Ian, Hook |
