We recently spent 3 nights at this hotel. As a young couple, I must say we simply loved Brugge. About the hotel, I will start with good sides of it. First of all the location of the hotel is perfect for walking into town and it is situated just by the river which gives you idyllic views from your room as we chose canal side room . The bed was comfy so are the pillows and duvet. The rooms we tried were always spotless and free wifi is pretty fast and you receive a good signal across the property. Nice tv with English channels and the lighting was fairly sufficient. The breakfast was nice as well and the staff were always helpful and friendly. However, unfortunately we experienced the biggest problem when we found out that the rooms in the same category vary significantly. We were given a higher floor canal side room at first which was quite frankly not pleasant at all. The sofa was decrepit and the room was very dark. Then we asked for another room and moved down to the first floor. This room was a bit better than the first one, spacious, better view of the canal but this time the bed was ever so noisy which we were not comfortable throughout the night and the room itself was not cosy, inanimate with big empty walls. It doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg to hang a few nice things onto the wall. What we were expecting in the first place was the room that we saw on the hotels website which was on the lower ground floor. So you do not necessarily get this room, beware. After spending two unhappy nights in this room we finally made it to the room that was advertised on the internet. This room was totally different than the others with way better design and a character. If it was not for the last night in this room, I would never ever consider coming back to this hotel but last night made up for the previous rooms. So please beware which room you are allocated to since they are incomparable different. Also make sure you get a double bed when you ask for one, not a twin bed pushed together !! All in all, I would recommend this hotel with a good price/value ratio only for the lower ground floor canal side room,302, amongst the ones we saw surely. If not for that, there are better deals in town since many hotels available by the canal with better price. I Hope this review helps other potential guests to make a sure that they make the most of this small and charming hotel !!

My mum and I enjoyed every minute of our stay in this wonderful hotel. The hotel manager, Johannes, and staff including his family members (father, mum and sister) have truly made us feel at home. No matter how busy staff members are, they still have time to say hello and give us a good smile!!! All were courteous, friendly and their "can do" attitude is the defining factor for us to come back to this lovely city and stay in this hotel whenever we are in Brugge. Thanks for a wonderful stay. The hotel is a gem, very central to sights, museums, shopping and with good amenities. Love the food in the hotel restaurant and the lovely sights of the canal from the restaurant windows are breathtaking any time of the day. My mum is aged and have problems climbing stairs so a room accessible to a lift was what I asked for when I booked the hotel and it was exactly what we got-wonderful!!!! Breakfast in the hotel is good too-yummy crispy breads and tasty cheeses. Next time we come back, we hope to stay in a room overlooking the canal. It would be simply beautiful I am sure. Thanks again Johannes and all staff of Bourgoensch Hof from me and my mum!!!!

The location is fantastic, we stayed in a canal view room and the view was brilliant, the ducks and swans providing a gentle alarm clock in the morning. Friendly and helpfull staff and the breakfast buffet was good value too - parking is available in an underground car park a few minutes away.

The location was superb; you won't find better canal side location/views. The room was immaculate and large and a brand new bathroom as well. Views were unbeatable. All staff except the morning breakfast lady were very pleasant and helpful. Very disappointed that the pub and outdoor cafe were not operating...check ahead of time!

The hotel is located in the heart of the city just a minute's walk from town centre. It is an old brewery converted. When at first we were told that our room was in the basement, we were nervous. However, in spite of the somewhat rough decorating, both our room and bathroom were mere feet above the canal and very charming. The swans swam right up to the windows. The room and facilities were clean. When I say rough, I mean that it was renovated and decorated economically. Some of the window catches didn't work and the lighting was poor. We would definitely stay again. It has the charm and uniqueness that we look for.

We all (3 of us - one couple and a single) liked this hotel very much. The location was superb and the parking was convienent. The staff (owners) couldn't have been nicer to us. They were so accommodating and always there to help (I.E. directions, things to do, etc.).I Hope to back there again one day. I can't think of a thing we didn't like.

The beautiful location of the hotel, comfortable beds and good sized room.Staff were excellent and very informative of the local area and tourist sites. The room was lovely and generally very clean, but perhaps should of had a vacum under the beds as there were white bits under the bed. The bed its self was spotless.

Great location! Very nice staff. Very good cereal/bread/cheese/meat/yogurt buffet breakfast. Our room, 302, was wonderful...large, full of character, amazing view, at the water level, very quiet. Breakfast room had the same view and also lots of character. Fyi, after getting a parking pass, you apparently can obtain a free bus pass. We didn't need it but good to know! Also, the hotel provided a discount card that saved us a few Euros at the museum.

Perfect location beside the canals. We opted for a room with canal view and this had two big windows with perfect views. Staff very friendly and helpful including pre-booking a nearby secure car park space for us. Scruffy and in need of some new furniture and paint. But if the lack of an upgrade is the trade off for the low cost of the rooms that's fine!

Perfect location to explore Bruges. Canalside rooms had wonderful views. Bedroom could be a little more updated but location far outweighed this.

The best part of this hotel was the location, location and location! Right in the middle of the market area to just walk down the street to go shopping and eat all your chocolates!, Also by the canal to really feel the Brugge culture, and the hotel is photographed for the post card so much since it's by the most popular part of canal. Right next to the hotel has very cool hip local beer bar that has wonderful outdoor terrace to hang out and enjoy Belgian beers. I stayed w two kids and was just perfect...everything was within 5 min. Or 10 min. Took boat rides everyday, hear the horse ride going by. The room was nice and clean and had a great windows that opens up to view the historic town. We wanted to enjoy the culture and this was just the perfect place. And the hotel crews were just so accommodation, kind, and attentive. Made our stay so special and relaxing. We travel so many places and this was one of the best set up we could ever asked!! Just over 5 start place! Highly recommend...
