Pleasantly located and well run. Unfortunately the Lift was out of order but we were lucky to transfer to a room on the first floor. The restaurant was well designed and the food was good.

Gorgeous setting on the banks of the river. The hotel is in character with its historic surroundings. Facilities are excellent. Restaurant has charm and comfort and the food is reasonable, though not gourmet. The Jumior Suite was beautiful. The Junior Suites were not in the main hotel but across the road in the 'Orangery', which meant that to use the pool, spa facilities, restaurant or bar you had to brave the elements. If this had been made clear to me prior to booking I might have gone for a cheaper room in the main building. The room was very cold at night. As with most French/Belgium hotels the TV was large and modern but almost unwatchable due to poor picture quality.

Pool, sauna, breakfast. The lights in the sauna and the pool went out too fast (after 15 or 20 minutes). Heating the room didn't seem to work (I couldn't figure out the thermostate).

It is close to Grote Markt and Broeltorens. The amenities are definitely a plus - an indoor swimming pool and sauna. The breakfast menu is also appetizing. Definitely a hotel you'll want to book again..

Location, staff, spacious room No mini-bar or tea/coffee facilities. I was thirsty and I had to go down to the bar.. A bottle of still water costs 8 euro! The breakfast could be better.. The swimming pool very small in size, no more than a couple can swim.. The bed was not good and the room (jr suite) I found it empty and cold.. Lastly, there was a smell in the room (probably from the swimming room)..

We were put in the hotel's annexe, which is the other side of a busy road. Had one wanted room service, any food would have been cold before it got to the location of our room. All the hotel's facilities were in the main building across the road. There was only parking in the street at a cost. In the room the TV did not work properly and the mini-bar was empty - you had to order any items from reception. There were no beverage making facilities in the room, which would have been very welcome being housed in the annexe. There were no rails on the quite large corner bath, which was dangerous - my wife slipped trying to get out of the bath and would have been in trouble had I not been able to help her.

“The hotel staff were so welcoming, without the usual informality of similar exclusive hotels. We particularly enjoyed the 'fine dining' experience and the extra touches such as the complimentary canapes and petits fours with dinner. We thought the beds were particularly comfortable too, and altogether we thought the hotel was a wonderful discovery in a very interesting area of Belgium. We have already recommended it to our Belgian friends.” Robert, Dewsbury, |
