Hotel Callecanes  

A delightfull hotel with a very friendly and helpfull staff who are prepared to "go the extra mile" to help. A well thought out modern architect designed building was full of interesting features.\the room was spacious with fine views to the rear.A Convenient stopping point fro visitors leaving early or arriving late to from or to a ferry very convenient for the motorway system, a better alternative than the town if your destination is Ypres. Very quiet.

The hotel has no character whatsoever and is located adjacent to a disused customs point and truck stop. The charge of 10 euros for a cold buffet breakfast was a waste of money. We spent 100 euro on dinner and although the food was acceptable the service was abysmal. Waited over 30 minutes for someone to take an order a further 30 minutes for the starter and yes a further 30 minutes for the mains. There was only 8 people in the restaurant. It appeared to be a man/wife team running the hotel and from what I could see they did everything dident see anyone else.

very comfertable.the addition of a kettle and coffee and tea facililites may be a bonus.

Good atmosphere and welcoming and helpful staff (family run hotel) Food was good if not gourmet and the beer was excellent!

Hotel staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Rooms were well equipped with everything one would need for a stay away from home.

Location is convenient for Ypres (Ieper). Also close to autoroute from Dunkerque (Dunkirk) to Lille [France]. Very nice, clean, modern hotel. Helpful and friendly owners.

Our visit was firstly to visit my uncles grave in Haringe which was not very far away. The location of the hotel made it very easy for trips by car to visit places such as Poperinge and Ypre and also a day visit to De Panne a very nice seaside town with a lovely beach. The comfort of the hotel and friendly staff made this an excellent stay in Belgium

The hotel is visible behind one of the old border crossing buildings but the narrow access road on the Belgium side of the border needs to be better signposted - the current Callecanes sign is too small

If you don`t wish to stay near the ports this is ideal.

The mattress protector which made for an uncomfortable night causing us too wake up due to perspiration.

Chambre très bien insonorisées, matelas confortables.

Chambre pour trois un peu petite, petit déjeuner un peu léger pour 10 euros par personne, accueil froid.

Geweldige gastvrijheid van de eigenaren Kurt en Nancy: prima verzorging in het hotel. Ontbijt was in buffetvorm, niet overdadig maar ontzettend lekker en vers!! Mooie strak ingerichte kamers met uitstekende bedden, netjes schoon, heerlijk rustig verblijf. Goede ligging van het hotel om naar diverse bezienswaardigheden en steden te reizen. De kinderen (10 en 18) hebben het prima naar de zin gehad in dit hotel!

Geen echte privacy in sauna en jacuzzi, omdat deze door de eigenaren bediend worden (wel begrijpelijk overigens, vanwege 'vandalisme' door gasten in verleden). Zij doen dit overigens wel op een hele prettige manier; echter dan niet zo ontspannend als volledige privacy.
