Campanile Hotel & Restaurant Gent    

The restaurant was closed on Friday evening when we arrived at 7.30pm. The staff directed us where we could eat elsewhere. We were not told this when we booked

Easy to find off the motorway.

Other hotels are central and if you factor in parking / transport into city centre then these are just as cheap. Industrial area - not helped by roadworks which meant we could not get the bus into town.

Stopped last three years - same as usual - rooms clean - ideal location for the event we attend

Staff on reception worse than previous years. Checkout staff. Normal problems of lack of control. Guest checking out before us had another customer given the same room. Staff seems to be an on-going issue, every year. Other than that no issues. We only use the hotel for sleeping

Except it was rather old/tatty. Seen better days. Door to bathroom had to be slammed to shut as did other doors in the building judging from the sounds coming through the walls. Tv advertised bbc1 and bbc2 but neither available. (This is easy nowdays - come on!) Tv reception on all channels was terrible - couldn't see sports channel clearly at all. Shower ran well and then suddenly became scorching to the point of danger - this happened each time we used it, so we ended up too scared to use it in case of burning. All in all, a bit shoddy. Not sure I would come back if this had been my 1st experience of a campanile.

The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpfull.

Straightforward overnight stay handy for the motorway system.

Found the staff to be polite & friendly at all times. Food and beer was good.

The buffet breakfast was great! The room was well-designed and comfortable even in the winter. The price wasn't cheap, but for Ghent, it was a good deal.

It was a little hard to find and took awhile to get to the city by bus -- maybe 30 minutes.

Very nice, clean, and stylish, comfortable, and ecologically responsible. All in all a nice experience

If you don't have a car this may not be the best place for you... :-) it's quite far from the centre

The reception and bar area is very good.

The room was cold, smelt damp and was not clean. The shower gel was empty.

A basic hotel, we came purely for a festival. The hotel was very overpriced, the restaurant was expensive and it was far from the city centre. It is also nestled in between some very strange smelling factories. It served its purpose but it is a last resort hotel.

Not the easiest junction to leave at - meant we got lost when the road layout didn't agree with the map.

Nothing special

Although you could call the central office,it is inconvenient for late arrival because you've to seek the rooms yourself and call the central number. It's more a motel and no lift,which is inconvenient for disable people and traveller with big luggage. There's not enough lighting in the rooms.

Friendly and helpful staff.

This hotel was extremely comfortable. Large, clean bathroom with nice towels. The beds were comfortable with fresh linen. Tea making facility was a bonus in this type of hotel. The restaurant served very high quality of food at reasonable prices and the service was excellent.

Very close to a large factory which was noisy.

Despite being close to the motorway, it was a quiet location and easy to get to. Good value for money, comfortable, great to have a kettle to make tea and reasonable breakfast.

It was very clean and apart from a missing towel which was quickly dealt with, all OK.

The photographs we saw online did not reflect the hotel well, which was a balcony/motel rooms layout, so the room was not as pleasant to be in as appeared. Tax and breakfast was not included in the advertised price, which we missed and in all we felt was deceptive. However, the room served its purpose well. Overall, it seems hotels in Belgium are badly over-priced, which I suppose may have to do with local factors such as too much Euro-money in the country which leads to inflated expense accounts. The Campanile cuts into the cheap-and-easy-making-a-fast-buck-for-nothing-out-of tourists-and Eurocrats, and that is a BIG plus in its favour. Overall, Belgium is overpriced as a country!

We chose the Campanile becuase it was close to the motorway and we wanted somewhere cheap and cheerful to break a very long journey. The location was on an industrial estate so was not very pretty. The staff were welcoming, helpful and spoke excellent English. The restaurant and bar were of reasonable quality and price and the breakfast was fine. The room was a bit small, but clean and with all the usual facilities. In short, it did all that it said on the tin.

The location on an industrial estate wasn't attractive, but the at least it was less than 0.5km from the autoroute. You can't have everything!

The friendliness of the staff was exceptional,the location for our needs was perfect and the food was excellent.Would definately recommend and stay again.
