It felt like a friendly atmosphere and because it was an actual working brewery there was definitely character to it. The beer was good and the food looked good although we didn't actually eat there ourselves. The location was good (less than 10 minutes walk to the centre), it has its own car parking and an easy access to the main motorway. The breakfast was good too. The staff were friendly and helpful. We also liked the back courtyard and the residence lounge. Bathroom could have been a little updated, although it was clean.

A very comfortable hotel with parking making a great stop-over through Belgium with the possibility of exploring Brussels and the environs. The fact that it is also part of a brewery with a fantastic range of very interesting beers to sample adds interest and the brasserie attached is a good place to eat with bags of atmosphere and a local non-resident clientele. Very busy even on a Sunday night when we stayed.

Great result after the renovation with nice integration into the brewery, shop and brasserie. Spacious rooms. I was very irritated when a truck delivered to the brewery at 9pm and made an incredible noise for up to one hour. Wifi was not working.

Very nice pub/restaurant adjacent to the hotel. The pub serves the special beers of the brewery the hotel belongs to and the food served is very tasty. Inconvenient is the way to check in and out of the hotel. To open the gate to the hotel's parking one should provide an intercom service.

The relaxed approach during breakfast, everything available on view and just help yourself. Off road car parking. Enjoyed tasting the different Beers on offer each night. A different way of dealing with people when bar was open to the general public. Didn't understand the evening menu and the ingredients of the meals so felt there wasn't anything that took our fancy.

The design of the hotel is great - an area of the working brewery has been converted into extremely spacious bedrooms with excellent facilities, including tea/coffee making facilities in room. The bar/restaurant serves excellent food at very reasonable prices and the beers on tap and in bottles are all supplied by the brewery. Very nice and helpful staff. On site parking facilities. The town of Mechelen is very quiet at night, so wouldn't recommend to groups of friends looking for a big night out, but the hotel/brewery/restaurant and bar make for a great place to stop whilst travelling through Belgium.

Excellent hotel if you love the beer of the brewery that is built-on. Excellent food from the onsite facilities. You are staying in a working brewery. That could be good or bad depending on your position.

Very unique experience being that the hotel is part of the brewery. Very friendly staff also. The yard rooms look a bit dingy from the outside but are very spacious and clean and tidy inside.

The breakfast buffet is really nice. The restaurant of the hotel have a large choice of food, everything is delicious. Bedrooms are always clean, nothing is old or broken. The staff is very friendly and always try to help you. The hotel is closed to the large beguinage, and 10 min far from the Grote Markt. The hotel brews its own beer "the Golden Carolus" and it is excellent, my favourite is the Ambrio :)

Staff were very friendly, helpful and informative. Room was well equipped and spotless. Ideal to use as a base for a short break which we did. Language was not a problem as the staff are multi-lingual, which made our stay even more enjoyable.

We loved finishing a 10 days of Beer in Belgium Trip for our family of 5 adults. What a way to finish it off by staying in a working brewery, taking the tour, hearing about the brewer and it's history, eating at the restaurant and staying in the charming refurbished storage rooms of the older building. How fun to sit out in the courtyard surrounded by "beer" and enjoy a beer and conversation to re-cap our trip with a beautiful church and sky to enjoy as well that evening. Too bad we only had a day/night to stay. Breakfast the next morning was wonderful and beautifully served in the brewery restaurant. We will be back when the whiskey is ready in 2013! Also got to enjoy the Jazz Fesitval happening in Mechelen that weekend, just a little sidebar to all the Beer! The Burkhardt's

The staff are very friendly. The room is very spacious and clean. The bed is comfortable and big.The breakfast is very good and all the different kinds of bread are very fresh. There is a bistro and brewery where you can taste all the different beers they brew. You have to walk to the bistro for breakfast, it is only a short walk but not so good if the weather is bad.

Location is good for walking into town. Nice breakfast and dinner facilities.Quiet area. I thought that the room, (nice size though), could have done with a comfy/easy armchair and the TV placed on the desk.... not higher up on the wall bracket!
