The central location and the staff were very helpful. The decor was a bit shabby. I would rather have not had the breakfast and paid less as there wasn't much selection. The stairs to the family room are very steep!

It is spot on in the historic center of Bruges. The room is spacious enough for a comfortable stay which isn't always the case on such a location. Decoration and atmosphere exceed the expectations for this price level. Staff was very friendly and helpfull. As expected in a building of this age there is some noise sensitivity but no reason to stay away

Excellent Location Appetising buffet breakfast Very friendly owner good with children Owner pointed us in the direction of a playground we had never seen before, kids had a lot of fun there No lift, difficult with heavy luggage if you are on one of the higher floors like we were Just a small point that there was no kettle in the room but not the only hotel we encountered this with nice to be able to make hot drinks on demand

The host was very helpful and accommodating, especially when we requested to have breakfast a little earlier to accommodate our train schedule. She supplied recommendations for local eating that were excellent. Her hotel is very conveniently located, nice and clean.

Near to square but far from train station. Hard to locate the hotel. You got take a bus from the train station, Don't expect much from the room and breakfast. Just a basic room . Very steep staircase.

It was very friendly and in an excellent location. Check-in was until 10pm, which was really helpful, and it was easy to get back in late at night without disturbing anyone.

Although it does look a little bit old, I liked a lot spacious room, nice bathroom. Older guests had to be cautious because stairs are little bit steep but there is no help because a hotel is situated at the old building. A Host was very nice, I got a tip for a very good dinner so Brugge stays at very good memory. I will be back.

Lovely old hotel with charm and character. Lovely, friendly Belgian lady who runs it makes the experience. The hotel's decor and interior is old but I really liked it, it has a certain atmosphere that added something. It's not for those who like plain white faceless franchised hotels. It also has a beautiful breakfast room and a decent buffet breakfast, served til 10:30. The stairs are very steep and narrow, wasn't a problem for us but might be difficult for older guests.

The host was a lovely lady who welcomed us straight away and showed us to our room. The room was in need of updating but it was still fine for the price and what we needed. Shower was good especially after our long journey to the hotel. The bed was comfortable. The location was great and all the bars and restaurants were all walking distance. The breakfast was excellent especially after all those lovely Belgian beers from the night before. Overall this was an excellent place for the price that we payed. I would recommend here.

A very good address. We will come back. The place is exactly what you would expect from a 2 star hotel with a smiling and friendly staff in bonus. Key points: - Very warm welcome! Friendly and helpful owner who speaks Dutch (of course), French and English fluently. - Ideal Location in the center of the city. - Clean and comfortable bedroom (our room was 2A). - Clean bathroom with modern shower & hot water. - Excellent breakfast. - Excellent quality / price ratio. - Attention, stairs leading to the bedrooms are dangerous, especially on the descent (steps are very narrow). As there is no lift, the hotel may not be suitable for people having difficulties to climb stairs & disabled people. - Soundproofing of the room could be better. - Creaky wood floors. - Tiny television.

Viviene the owner was so incredibley helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was really good, a lovely selection of speciality breads, cheeses, cold meats, fruit etc...along with a hard boiled egg; Viviene also serves a fabulous coffee! The decor of the breakfast room is stunning, with a very ornate ceiling and beautiful chandelier, along with some very nice querky objet d'art. The decor of the public areas compliment the style of the building well, although the bedroom itself was a little basic, but very comfortable. The location is amazing, just a 2 minute walk from the Markt and just behind the Theatre with some excellent bars and restaurants (good value off the Markt) on the doorstep. Would not hesitate to stay at the Cavelier again should we go back to Bruges

Everything was great. Location couldn't have been better. Breakfast was good, the coffee a little weak, but that's more about our taste. Our hostess was always friendly. I would highly recommend the Hotel Cavalier.

Both room and hotel exceeded our expectations of a 2 star. Interesting and quirky old building set on quiet side street in historic centre very close to main sights, shops, bars etc. Also very convenient for Biekorf underground car park ( 8.7 Euros per 24 hours). Charming public areas. Friendly and helpful owner has created a homely atmosphere. Good breakfast buffet with items quickly replenished. Freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh (not from a drinks machine) coffee! Our family room was a good size, clean and comfortable.Hotel has a regular and loyal clientele Great value. Steep narrow stairs. Decor and fittings in bedrooms needs updating.(Neither things bothered us, but it might some people). Booking.com customers are charged 5 Euros for 2 hours wi-fi access but it is free to other guests. Not sure I appreciate the reason why Booking.com clients should be treated any differently. However Wi-fi is free in bar next door (As the owner pointed out).

The room and the bathroom were clean and spacious. The hotel is just a couple of minutes walk from the old town centre, but very quiet (at least our room, with the window facing the inner yard, was). The personnel was very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts good. The water tap in the bathroom refused to produce warm water—either hot or cold, and in the latter case the flow was really low. The bed was too soft. The hotel is in the old building, so expect to be able to hear your neighbours. The bathroom door could hardly be properly closed—it didn't fit into its frame. All this relates to room no. 2.
