Very friendly reception Beautiful, historic building Lovely rooms Smart yet relaxed Good location

Garage very convenient but a bit tight for larger cars!

The lobby of the hotel is very pretty and the rooms are well appointed

I was put on the top floor, the room was fine, but I had no wifi access in the room.

style of the hotel. Very interesting history of the building and the rooms. Wonderful room with amazing bath and its story. Easy walking distance from Gent.

Nothing I did not like. Only challenge can be the parking as the parking garage is very tight so any car wider than, say BMW 3 series is a no no.

Nice location, walking distance from Ghent old downtown (for those who are not big fans of walking, also convenient tram stop nearby), generally quiet area, very kind and helpful staff. Stylish interiors, furniture, quiet piano music in the background and ... bit noisy floors make a unique atmosphere of this place. If you suffer from "Belle Epoque" longing, this is definitely the place worthy to stay. If coming by car, just make sure to reserve a place in Hencelot's garage with reasonable advance (max. 3 cars can fit there), as parking on narrow streets in vincinty may be a bit of challenge.

    The atmosphere, architecture, furniture etc.

The fact that I could not cancel the 2nd room that I reserved for a colleague whose agenda had changed. Unacceptable !

Beautiful hotel, nice old furniture but modern facilities. Only 1 minute walk to the busstop, and 4 stops to the centre of town. Really the place to stay when you want to explore gent.

I liked the location and breakfast (service also).

The hotel has no lift and when I came carrying the suitcase and briefcase the receptionist told me I was lucky to have my bedroom on the first floor and offer no help. At all. When leaving one of the guests helped to carry the luggage, not the receptionist. In the room I had no phone to call Reception if I needed something. There was only black tea in the room. If you wanted a cup of tea at night I had no choice.

We were on the 3rd floor in a Comfort room which was clean and spacious, especially the bathroom. This hotel is fabulous with an historical ambience. We were welcomed with a drink and an in-depth description about the city highlights, activities and restaurants. We made 3 requests which were dealt with immediately.

Huge room, old fashioned and stylish

Noise both inside the Hotel and from the street. Neither of the two members of staff present could issue and invoice. High cost for parking and breakfast

Great Hotel - very friendly people. Breakfast with a great choice. Available (but costly) garage - very good as nearly no parking available outside.

Garage was really small but this is minor!

Internally the hotel has retained many period features, including the high ceilings, mosaic floors, huge full height double doors and marble fire places. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The Hotel was only 15 minutes walk from the historic town centre and 25 minutes walk from the train station.

The Hotel was surrounded by some rather ugly modern buildings.

In walking distance to historic area. Beautiful hotel, very comfortable. I was able to park my car securely in the garage for an additional 14.50 euro.

17th century antiquity with 21st century plumbing, and the best bed I have slept in. We can only stress if you are looking for comfort, with the highest quality of service on a visit to Ghent, the best kept secret in Europe, this hotel is the one.

    Genuinely there were no dislikes.

Our third or fourth stay here - Gent is a lovely city, and Hancelot is a great, atmospheric hotel with lots of character. Their restaurant recommendations are excellent

No lift, so make sure you can manage the stairs!

The most comfortable bed I've ever slept in in a hotel and an amazingly warm and soft quilt. Perfect location: only 3 tram stops from the centre, so very quiet.
