This hotel is at the Leie River in the center of medieval Ghent, just over a quarter mile from Saint Bavo Cathedral and a 2-minute walk from Veldstraat Shopping District.
Score from 1100 reviews Very good
Very quiet ,did provide a fan.
No air conditioning
The hotel location is perfect. Free wifi that works reasonably.
The room they gave us was on the ground floor, it was extremely noisy and too hot, we could´t sleep without the windows open but it was full of mosquitos. The hotel room have no temperature control option.
Friendly staff, great location
Lack of on site carparking
Great staff, good breakfast included, very easy with pets.
Couldn't get wifi on my phone in the room - only on my laptop.
The location couldn't be better and the room we had was superb, overlooking the medieval street with a flower box outside the window - and a massive bathroom! Breakfast was adequate and plentiful.
Our friends were in the newer part and the rooms are not quite so nice, although spacious
The women on the desk, when we arrived and when we left, were both pleasant
There is a light well which has two terraces at the bottom of it; my room opened on to this well. At 2am two men were sitting out there talking and smoking so loudly that it woke me up. I asked them to be quieter, they weren't and I rang the deskclerk, who was not helpful and seemed reluctant to intervene.
Location and atmosphere
The temperature in the hotel was quite high
No wifi. Ask for the room not facing the street, it gets noisy there
Pet-friendly friendly staff Good breakfast Beautiful breakfast room Lovely large and attractive rooms
location, fairly decent bed
Modern remodel of old building fails: toilet had (room20) had to be used at right angles as knees into wall; Horrible internet; cramped breakfast room not, v. poor replenishment of eats, at times no clean tables; reception rarely staffed, Best Western should pull its affiiation, it is really WORST Western; greatly overprices for quality rec'd
Location was ideal. Breakfast was decent. Being in Ghent during the Fest week was amazing!
Beat up. Heat meant windows needed to be open. Thus, a little bit of street noise. Location helps you overlook some of the things that need renovation.
Location is excellent
Where do I start.... 1) stink of human body odour in reception 2) getting stuck in the lift for 30 minutes was pure hell 3) room was warm, so opened the bathroom window, only to fill the room with a throat retching smell of raw sewage 4) breakfast was extremely limited, having asked for tea, we were told to go and boil the plastic kettle next to the tea bags. 5) hotel is old and looking very worn down, in desperate need of a good clean up and a lick of paint
Location was perfect. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly.
Breakfast even by Continental standards was poor. Room for 4 adults had 2 cups + 2 coffees. Extra beds not suitable for adults. Can get better quality family room in UK for less than half the cost.
great location big rooms
Friendly and helpful staff in very pleasant and centrally situated hotel.
location excellent , friendly staff very comfy bed .
The breaksfast was excellent
The car park is a good 10 minute walk away, quite difficult to find and underground .
location is excellent, breakfast is good.
Rooms are old and need renovation. Some of the rooms are small, really not worth the 3 stars. Sounds can be heard by rooms next door and above. Wifi is really slow and completely unreliable and only offered with 24hour codes on a paper, one per device that you have to enter over and over again. Plus you have to ask for new codes every 24 hours from the reception... Free, but dissapointing.
Location was okay.
Bad smell from the drains outside the hotel. I left my window open during the day and the room stank afterwards. I got very bad insect bites ( bed bugs or Mosquitos) on the final night. Approx. 10 bites. My colleague also got but in a separate room.
The location is great and the staff is super nice.
Wifi has a bandwith limit so it's really slow. Breakfast does not offer many options for vegetarians.
Very central location and fried staff.
Breakfast hall tiny but understandable in that old -18th c. house.
Spacious rooms, friendly staff.
The room was very hot and we could not open the windows at night because there were mosquitoes in the area.
The family room was large and comfortable. The hotel is excellently situated in the centre of the old city, which is beautiful - especially at night with all the lights and street cafes. Staff was very helpful to solve some queries we had. This was the only hotel throughout our travels in The Netherlands where we got a "hot breakfast", including scrambled eggs and bacon. Furthermore, everything was just perfect! Thanks for an unforgettable stay!
Very convenient location.Good sized room and bathroom.Hospitality tray in room.
