Laurent,
Liege
A unique combination of historic charm and futuristic design, this brand-new hotel is created around an old farmhouse and a protected windmill, dating back to 1841. All the luxurious designer rooms at the D-Hotel have a flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi internet and maxi-bars, instead of the usual minibars. For an extra fee, you can get access to the d-relaxx spa center and the fitness room. Weather permitting, the inner courtyard is a lovely place to sit out and have a drink. Here you can also your breakfast, made with fresh and traditional products. The historic heart of the city is 1.5 miles away and the Kortijk Xpo halls are a 5-minute drive from the hotel. Lille, across the French border, is only 20 minutes away by car. Hotel Rooms: 44

We had a very warm welcome despite turning up after midnight, the owner met us and explained every thing to us. The staff were very helpful and interested in our requirements. They opened the spa facilities just for our use. A very remarkable building and experience and one we would certainly want to repeat.

We booked 1 suite for one night. The room was fantastic, fashion, nice design. Big bathtub in the middle of the room. The bed was fantastic, comfortable King size. The room was perfect. We had dinner at the restaurant and I must say, it was very good. Make a reservation in advance. We booked a Duo Massage which was also very good. The staff is very friendly. For sure I will return but now for a full weekend.

The location was very convenient and the beds comfy. It is not lit well throughout the hotel. The corridor with my room was barely lit at all and as a single traveller this wasn't particularly nice. The room was comfortable but don't rub against the bare walls as you'll concrete dust on you! The bistro requires a reservation, which I wasn't told was essential, and my food was served to me frozen. It was replaced but the service was slow and I was the only diner at the time! It feels like this hotel should work but I found the whole experience weird and unnerving.

It was well located for the purpose of our visit - the ww1 Ieper Salient battlefields and memorials. The hotel is very modern and well run. Although the room layout is a little quirky, it grows on you. Ample car parking. One of the main reasons we picked this hotel was that it boasted an outdoor swimming pool, which we thought would be relaxing after a day's touring. However it turned out that the pool could only be used in connection with the health spar attached to the hotel, at a prohibitive charge of about €30 each day. Also, the breakfast, at €22 per person, which we had on the first day of our stay, was very poor value for money - particularly as the coffee machine was broken.

I did like the interesting blend of classical and ultra modern, the technology applied to the rooms ( i-phone key system), light controls. The space and the big glassed windows. wi-fi and gourmet dinner possibilities. Gym and spa-options. A real gem hidden in a small town with all you need to work and relax after a long day's work. flush in the toilet had a funny brown look. There was some water dropping somewhere that disturbed a bit consiedering the absolute and beautiful silence of the rooms.

Everything is still is brand new; quiet atmosphere Bit too 'over styled' - corridors in the night too dark, does not add up to feeling at home

Nice design hotel, really different and very original. Rooms could be cleaner and maintenance could be better, some things missing (shaving mirror taken out of the holder) and slightly damaged.

The general design of the hotel, the staff, and the food. Although the menu for 2009/2010 new year was more impressive, the food cooked by your chef is oustanding. I would recommend that your chef is entered into a competition and is given some funding to develop his techniques. We are experienced diners and have a strong knowlege and interest in cooking, and think he has more talent that that he could develop further with supportive employers. We think henhas the potential for Michelin star cooking. The hotel is great but for the cost there are a few things that would need to be improved: water should be in the rooms and tea should be in the spa (last year there was, this year not), tea and coffee making facilities and a hairdryer should be in the room. Some of the gym equipment is not to a high standard and the water machine was broken. The wellness centre is lovely but overpriced and several of the rooms were closed with "do not disturb" signs on the doors (this was also the case last year), although we didn't really want this, there was no pay per view on the tv. I think given that this hotel is 4 star, these issues really should be considered, especially as the cost is high to stay here.

Zeer vriendelijke ontvangst. Behulpzaam personeel. Mooi design. Gezellig ontbijt.
