I'm not nuts about the parking lot's location, but that can't be helped, since the hotel is on the main square - having secure parking was something that helped me sleep at night.
As Americans, we get spoiled by cookie cutter hotels that have no soul or character and we expect immediacy. It is a shame that people project that on other countries and their customs and standards. The Hotel Damier was absolutely top notch. It was quaint and elegant at the same time. The staff were great and very helpful and friendly. The room was quite nice and large by European standards. The breakfast buffet, which is included in the price of the room, is just fantastic! It's Belgian and it spoiled me on breakfasts in London hotels and Paris hotels. BTW - the coffee in Belgium beats any I've had anywhere. I took several day trips away from Kortrijk, but when I was on my way back to the Hotel Damier, I found myself thinking, "I can't wait to get home" and I meant to the Hotel.
