location is great, breakfast good and staff very pleasant
Not a fault of the hotel but the one way system around the town makes finding it quite a challenge
Location was good Mucked menu for my daughter for breakfast as no gluten free bread but they had been informed They did fix it next day
The hotel has a great charachter about it from the moment you walk in. Staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are tastefully decorated. Free bottled still and sparking water is provided in the room and numerous tv channels including English ones. There was a large choice for breakfast including fruit juice, cereal, fresh fruit, yogurts, breads, cheeses and hot food.
The room I had only had a bath with shower attachment so not the easiest for a quick shower but it is perfectly manageable.
The place itself + the outstanding selection of fine malts in the bar. Location also good. Didn't try restaurant as many good eateries around the hotel.
parking maybe a tad expensive. Room a little on the small side although elegant. Bathroom very big.
Courteous and helpful staff; really great breakfast with lovely fresh bread and rolls and lots of choice; light and airy décor in the bedroom; bathroom contained a full-size bath as well as a shower. efficient air-con in bedroom; room was very quiet, as we requested.
This was billed as a 'superior' room (# 72} and, although it was large, there was only a small double bed, not the 2m I would have expected. There was only one side table - where was the 2nd person supposed to put spectacles, medications, etc? There was one cupboard, intended for a wardrobe but it was already almost full with a mini-fridge, a safe set so high up that I couldn't reach it and spare bedding. The hanging-space was so shallow that a cardigan or shirt trailed on the fridge-top - hanging a dress or a coat would have been impossible. The small desk contained 2 very small drawers in which we managed to cram our clean underwear after removing various publicity materials and a bible which lurked there. There was no other storage space and only one not very comfortable chair - a superior double room in which only one person can sit down? A flat screen TV which could easily have been hung on the wall, occupied a small round table. This was a pity as there was no dressing-table and the only place to put cosmetics, hair brush, etc was on the windowsill. The bathroom was tiny and uncomfortably warm with nowhere to hang your hand-towel and minimal stowage space for toothbrushes, shaving kit, contact lens solutions and so on. If this is a superior room, then what on earth are the 'ordinary' rooms like?
character of hotel central location friendly staff good breakfast
shower over bath with no screen or curtain
The welcome we receive from the staff in the hotel especially Tina, and the general friendliness of the people in Kortrijk. The cuisine in the restaurants and the choices around makes for a very relaxing break. That's why we keep coming back.
We liked every aspect of this break we can't find fault.
No parking facilities Lousy internet Only water in the minibar Bar was closed at 23:00h Only 3 working channels on the tv
Grand building with character. Good breakfast. Near to railway station.
nice location, close to big public parking, comfortable bathroom
Quiet, even though on the main square. Good sized-car park. Friendly reception and bar staff. Room big and clean, bed comfortable. I was there on a Monday night, so the hotel's restaurant was closed. Fortunately, no problem, as there are plenty of others right next to the hotel.
Breakfast not brilliant. Didn't particularly like the coffee or bread, all seemed a bit cheap. Not appalling, certainly not a reason not to stay there, but it's something the hotel could improve on. Certainly wouldn't stop me going there again.
City center; parking
The hotel is very nice and breakfast was free and good. In the town there was a carnival and parking was a problem. The reception staff could have helped by informing us in the morning that roads would be closed later in the day. It took us 90 minutes to get into the town centre where the hotel is. We were having to drive the wrong way up one way streets and no entry streets. Dont go on a carnival day as the town puts on very loude music and the town centre is like a war zone with drink fueled youths.
Town centre carnival and the music acts that played were way too loude and no real organisation on the roads in or out of the town. Stay away at carnival or holiday times
This was my first hotel stay in my native city. Hotel Du Damier is known as old glory...I still consider it as glorious!
Too many frames in the corridor hanging straight! I appeal for a slight twist!
Location friendly staff ambience of the Hotel. Any requests dealt with immediately.
There was nothing not to like, one suggestion is that one has to book the executive bedroom to have the wardrobe space and drawer space if staying for a few nights. Superior double is too small for 2 people.
excellent location on city square. hotel breakfast was varied. bar was resonably priced. plenty of restaurants to choose from outside hotel around the square. people here are very friendly and all spoke a little english. recommend a visit to the Beguinage. easy access to Ghent and Bruge by train. shopping is good, if a little expensive. hotel parking was in a secure area at rear of hotel.
the room had very little storage, just a small cupboard with a few hangers and a safe. no drawer space at all and only one bedside table which meant living out of suitcase for the duration.
Very friendly atmosphere excellent location.
Very small bedroom even though superior double. Poor breakfast, cold eggs no bacon until made a complaint. Food expensive.
Great location on the square
Ask for a quiet room as the belltower goes eevry half hour through the night
Very traditional, opulent, great staff, good location
Bed linen not changed during week, no robes, breakfast room never had tables made up and at times you had to clear your own tables
Location is right on the square, which is quiet at night. Rooms are very nice and breakfast was excellent. Service is perfect. Close to everything.
Parking is simple but I recommend calling before you arrive for the details of how and where.
Large and clean rooms with nice antique furniture. Right at the main square of the town. Free WIFI which works well! Staff is very friendly and helpful.
At easter (every easter) there is a large noisy fun fair right on the main square. Avoid the easter time if you don't like this kind of entertainment with its crowd and noise.
The hotel was very well situated in the heart of Kortrijk. Rooms are spacious, very comfortable and sound proof (we did not hear the fancy fair in front of the hotel!). Staff very friendly. Excellent breakfast with fresh orange juice. Cosy bar. Private parking. Shops nearby. Excellent starting point for visiting the Westhoek and World War I sites and Bellewaerde.
Dining room was bright for breakfast. We like the old world charm.
Pillows weren't great. The shower didn't have a door so the bathroom got rather wet. Was a bit noisy in the courtyard in the morning.
The location of the hotel is excellent. Staff is very kind. Breakfast buffet is more than enough, so many kind of quality food. Victor Hugo was a guest once!
