Location, secure free car parking, food and welcome. Nice short walk to the town.
The location was very good and the apartment had everything we needed.
Our host was extremely attentive and made us feel very welcome. The apartment was absolutely spotless and very comfortable. And the breakfast we had in the restaurant was really delightful. Great value for money.
We were visiting Ypres to watch our son play in the Premier League Christmas Truce Tournament, the apartment was walking distance to the stadium which was great news! But also easy to find, walking distance to town, Menin Gate, Ramparts Cemetery. Apartment itself was clean, modern, exceptionally decorated and equipt for what we needed. And to top if off the steak in the restaurant was to die for! Loved our stay, beautiful town, need to go back to explore everything we didn't have time to see.
Convenient location. Very clean and comfortable. Very helpful owners. Very good wifi.
Cooking equipment a bit limited. Instructions for coffee machine not in English; had to look at a YouTube video!
Size of room
Wonderful, spotlessly clean, modern apartment decorated to immaculate standards with amazing attention to detail in every aspect. The facilities provided went above and beyond what you expect in a 5* hotel. The owners were extremely accommodating and friendly. With off road parking included it is ideal for visiting Ypres or touring the battlefields. We were sad to leave and will definitely return for a longer stay next time.
The stairs to the entrance of the apartment were quite daunting but only as I have a fear of heights and they were worth the challenge as the apartment was amazing!
We liked the location, a short walk to Menin Gate along the old city wall. We liked the Stella Artois welcome. The apartment was fitted out very well, had everything we needed for an overnight stay. The restaurant downstairs looked good and was very busy on a Saturday night. Free parking was a bonus.
The apartment was near a main road and there was some traffic noise through the night, not enough to keep you awake, but if you are not a city dweller, then it was noticable
Location was excellent. Clean and friendly. The restaurant looked lovely, unfortunately the owners were on holiday and the restaurant was closed, would like to try another time
The rooms were outstanding. The level of facilities were brilliant. The location is fine (10 min walk to the Menen gate). The price was very good.
The rooms had to be accessed via some very open / steep / metal stairs. One of the party was disabled which caused us some access problems as we could not recall the website making this clear.
Excellent decor and furniture made up for the small room. Compact but well designed. Very friendly and helpful owner. Easy walk through town to Menin Gate.
2 bed apartment was delightful, spotlessly clean, little lounge with table, chairs and small settee and very comfy bed that we slept in on the "mezzanine". Enough facilities to allow a little "cooking" to be done. Lovely little terrace to sit out on. Very handy to walk to centre of Ypres. Our host too was very charming - welcomed with a glass of wine & beer. Shame the restaurant was closed while we were there, but nice breakfast the following morning. Definitely would stay there again - good value for the cost.
As it is situated on a very busy crossroads, would have liked a bit of "trellis" to hide all the traffic while sitting on the terrace. Steps to the 2 bed apartment are steep - but wide and not too onerous if you are reasonably fit. Mugs would be good to drink tea out of rather than tiny coffe cups.
This apartment is ideal for getting about in Ypres . 10 min walk from the centre . There's a supermarket over the road .
Spiral staircase could be problematic for those with walking difficulties .
Everything about the apartment was fantastic. If we return to Ieper (as I expect we shall), we will definitely try to stay at Apartment De Voerman. All the family and staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and we could not have wished for better service. Breakfast each day was comprehensive - it was impossible to finish everything that was provided. The lunch/evening food (only served at weekends) was superb! Enthusiastically recommended!
It was absolutely fine for us but guests with limited mobility might struggle with the outside stairs.
- Friendly welcome, complemntary welcoem drink and as restaurant was closed that day advice given about where to eat. - Nicely equiped apartment with an easy walk to the centre of Ypres. - Dedicated off road parking. - Much to our surprise (and against expectations) the foam matresses were incredibly comfortable, best night's sleep for months! -Effective wifi.
Nothing to dislike but be aware of the following: - Stairs are external and reasonably steep which caused us no issue although I wouldn't recommend the place to my 80 year old parents for that reason. - on a busy road, but very little noise through closed double glased windows. A/C in property for hot nights, not an issue in October! - Common european double bed arrangement with 2 single beds though without any means to convert into one bed as happens sometimes. -If over 6ft mind your head in the bed rooms.
Situated above one of Ypres best known grill restaurants, the three apartments vary in size, all are less than two years old and built into the roofspace above the restaurant. As a solo traveller I had the one bedroom studio which consisted of two single beds, a table and chairs, plus a small kitchen area that consisted of a fridge and minibar, coffee machine (Dolce Gusto) microwave and one of those two ring electric hobs so prevalent across the Channel. All topped off with a large LCD tv (with no UK programmes). The bathroom and shower are compact but again, very modern with a full complement of towels, shampoo and shower gels. Clothes storage is on hangers via the rack on the wall, and there is a storage unit again on the wall underneath the TV. The Grill de Voerman is situated just off the ring road on the road into Ypres via the Lille Gate, and it is 200 yards to the Ramparts Cemetary, and a ten minute walk straight into the Grand Place. There is ample car parking and a shopping centre with a Lidl for provisions just over the road.
Access is via a metal circular stairway outside the grill, leading to an outside terrace and table area attached to the apartments. Although I found this acceptable (I'm a sprightly 66!), it might prove a tad daunting for anyone who is less able.
All of the above, and the free beer on arrival, a very friendly and clean accommodation....
The only grip was that there was a bit of road noise early in the morning, but was not to bad..
Fine location, just outside the Ramparts Gate - 5-10mins walk from centre. Welcoming drink on arrival. Bijou - small but well formed eyrie!
Ok for us, but the external circular stair case will be challenging for some. Situated on busy round-about, though the double glazing is effective for noise reduction. Restaurant looks good, but is only open at weekend.
Location great for town and only a ten minute walk to Menin Gate. Quirky and well furnished. Food store across the road. Host very helpful.
Little work surface in kitchen area. Very steep stairs upto bedrooms - not a problem but kids had to be careful.
Apartment, very new and modern, tassimo with free coffee, stocked drinks fridge at reasonable prices, small balcony overlooking garden. Excellent steak restaurant downstairs. Complimentary beer and plate of cold meats on arrival. Good breakfast
Apartment a bit small for a long stay.
-friendly staff -close to city centre -excellent restaurant -parking place around the back
-pricy restaurant -small for four adults (small kitchen, small couch, no place to stow away anything) -close to busy crossroads
Just outside the ramparts and moat of Ieper /Ypres. A good bakery is open early just inside the gate, which has some old IWGC signs displayed. Over a restaurant that only opens a couple of nights a week, so it was quiet.
Note: the external steel stair might be tricky for some people, but is good for independent access, not through the restaurant. No bath but a good shower.
This beautifully decorated apartment was spacious, well equipped and located conveniently within walking distance of the Menin Gate, Flanders Museum, tourist information and many restaurants. Secure parking was also appreciated.
The outdoor spiral staircase entry was manageable for us but might be problematic for some.
Fittings excelent quality , Owner very friendly, Had a lovely meal in restaurant, but unfortunate to only be open weekend. Very clean & kept clean every day. Good location on outskirts of Leper walk into centre 10 mins & 15 mins walk along the ramparts to Menim gate I could stay here again but I would want one of the bigger appartments.
We had the smallest of 3 appartments which are all above the restaurant we managed but we are both quite small anyone tall may have an issue with height of the cielings. The entrance to 2 of the appartments was via a spirral staircase which for me at 65yr & overweight, dodgy knees, sometimes a struggle. Self catering kitchen a bit sparse & ear plugs would be handy for the early morning road noise
