Clean room, with a continental breakfast (with a boiled egg if you wanted) in a pleasant dining room. We arrived in the evening, and the son of the owners gave us our key and called their restaurant round the corner to check they were still serving, which was helpful. Bed was comfy.
The location and free wifi were a bonus but didn't really make up for the shortcomings
Our first night was very restless as the walls were PAPER, you can hear EVERYTHING. Not only that but the shower dripped and the bed was broken. They refused to accept the tap dripped and didn't fix it, nor the broken bed, and said we'd have to put up with the thin walls as they wouldn't move us. The owners were accomodating but not particularly helpful. All in all, pretty disappointing.
Immaculately clean and in a quiet location. Nice breakfast.
Good location, good value for money, good breakfast.
After getting to your room at the last floor with your luggage, you are ready to climb Everest. The owener is not the warmest person in the world.
Very nice family hotel, can't wait to go back.
The staff were helpful and friendly. The Hotel was in a quiet location near to the centre. Tip: If arriving at the train station, catch a local bus from the station to the bus stop near the Hotel, in Langerei (number 4 or 14 will get you there).
Steep staircase in Hotel - OK for us, but not if you have any mobility difficulties.
The staff itself
clean room very good breakfast nice area not far to walk from the main town in all a very good weekend
would have been nice to have a kettle for tea / coffee
Friendliness and hospitality of the owners. One of the best continental breakfasts we have ever had that would put many 5 star establishments to shame. Great value for money and convenient location.
good relation quality-price; 10 minutes to the center
location, friendliness good breakfast relaxing
no tea or coffee facilities in room but not a deal breaker
the hotel is in a very quiet area, but only a short walk to the centre. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is continental, and given the hotel prices in Bruges this is of good quality and reasonable cost. The rooms are small and the staircases narrow because it is essentially an old town house.
The rooms do not have tea or coffee making facilities and there is no guest lounge or sitting area. However there is no shortage of restaurants and bars in the vicinity, I would particularly recommend the Rose Red Cafe in Cordoneair Straat.
Clean, comfortable, fairly central, quiet, good shower.
v shallow stairs, bathroom a little too compact in our room, others better.
Perfect English spoken. No real frills but has everything that you need. Nice continental breakfast included, but not available until 08.30. Free parking for a few hours and free all day Sunday is a bonus. Would definatly use this hotel again.
good location close enough to the city center, clean rooms and wifi works well
we had a misunderstanding with the booking for your child. on arrival we paid 30 Euros more per night for the cot, € 10 more than expected, and yet the owner treated us very badly and threatened to throw us out of the hotel if your child is making noise. staff friendly and very rude. would not recommend it for families, steep stairs and small rooms, poor breakfast and poor quality food.
Not very good soundproofing between bathroom and bedroom.
Having visited this hotel on numerous occasions with my late Wife it was with some trepidation that I sat down to my first dinner. However, the warmth and consideration of Hilde & Phillipe soon dispelled any doubts that I may have had although the memories were still there. The excellent cuisine in the attached restaurant was, as usual, to a very high standard and is thoroughly recommended.
The weather was very changeable with a lot of rainfall and high winds. Although the last day of my stay, there was a general strike throughout Belgium that could have placed some restrictions on my travels. The was nothing about the Hotel de Pauw that I didn't like.
Location and staff are perfect.
Walls are too thin, you can hear even phone conversation in other rooms
We really enjoyed our stay in this very clean and well run hotel. Its location was perfect for us - a pleasant 10/15 minute walk into the centre. (I am glad that we had taken a taxi from the station on arrival in the dark! ) Our room, while compact , was very comfortable. Breakfast was good including perfectly cooked soft boiled eggs and a wide choice of breads, ham, preserves etc.The food in the owner's restaurant around the corner was excellent. We had the Flemish stew and a steak and both were beautifully presented and so tasty! We would love to return to both the city and the hotel.
Very pleasant, clean, friendly hotel, nicely located, a short walk from the main sights of Bruges. Very good breakfast included in price.
A tea/coffee tray in the room would have been nice - but, of course, not essential.
The location was fairly good to the old city and short trip to train station by cab when I went on. Also excellent reaturant run by the owners just around the corner.
No elevator and steep stairs. But I was on the first floor so not bad
Very clean and charming room and staffs are kind! We could walk to the central and good neighborhood.
There was not an elevator so that it was hard to bring our heavy suitcase up to the room.
Location, look of hotel, cleanliness, lovely bathroom and excellent breakfast with lots of choice.
No tea and coffee making facilities.
The location is great and also the staff and the house are quite nice.
We booked a renovated room, but I would really like to know what they changed in the room...the bed was horrible, I never slept so badly. In addition the bathroom did not look new to me neither. So for what did I pay more?
The breakfast, the clean room and nice bathroom.
I did not like having to lug suitcases up the old staircase. I could have used some help but none was offered.
