All in all the stay was pleasant and enjoyable. However, we did not feel that the price justified the service. having frequented a few different hotels in the area, we were aware that they are all a bit overpriced for what you get, but this one was excessively so.
This was not the child friendliest hotel I have ever been to. We were not allowed to bring the buggy in the elevator and this hotel has 9 floors with elevators big enough to fit a buggy. Then we felt paying 15 Euros for a two year olds breakfast was also a bit excessive.
Large bright and comfortable rooms. Our room was best located at the front side a couple of meters from the digue and the beach. Breakfast buffet offers all and more what you expect. Friendly and competent staff make your stay just pleasant and relaxed. And all of the above are the reasons why we will come back to this great place.
Staff Breakfast Location
Great location and the breakfast was fine. The hotel is clean, decor is dated with an abundance of artificial flowers...
You know that feeling that you are being totally screwed and there is nothing you can do about it? Welcome to Hotel des Nations. We decided to have a stopover after a long journey before taking the ferry so we thought Knokke was a good choice, somewhere nice overlooking the sea was what we were after. We arrived after a long car journey with two babies, absolutely shattered. We booked a rate of 200 euro on booking.com. On arrival at the hotel we were told that we could not have that rate as we were four people staying in the room, and they said that it is illegal to sleep 4 people in a double room. We were two adults and one 8month and one over two year old. We were told that we could not have the booking.com rate but they could offer us a special rate of 320 for a family room, a great reduction from the rack rate of 370 - I have never paid rack rate in my life. We were given the option of leaving it. But it was clear to be seen that we had no intention of seeking another hotel at that time with our tired hungry babies. So we agreed and they knew we would accept seeing our disposition. They gave us a room with the cots in a sitting room adjoining the bedroom. We moved the cots into our bedroom so it was in essence it was the same as having a double room. The view was overlooking the back of some buildings. In addition, we paid 25 euro for the parking, this was our choice. So 345 for one night. - 120 euro extra for our two babies We also had a complaint from reception at bedtime because of the noise from us, my sons laughfter was upsetting our neighbour - the walls were like cardboard. Not somewhere that I would ever go again nor would I recommend it despite having some positive elements.
Superb locaton and friendly family attitude. No problem with providing business services as well, like sending fax messages etc. Good advise on sightseen esp usefull in stormy weather.
The curtains do not keep out the light, so you wake up very early at this time of year
We were very disappointed at the SPA facilities of the hotel. From the web-site at booking.com I got a clear understanding that this hotel has a real SPA center with a swimming pool and it is open to the residents all the time - like in the hotel La Reserve in Knokke where we had been just the weekend earlier. When arriving we found out that there was no swimming pool and the spa-facility was open only if you ordered it in advance that they could heat up the sauna and the hammam. As this was really planned as a spa-holiday we decided to go back to the La Reserve Spa that cost us a lot of extra money. So I would not choose hotel des nations again.
Perfect location near the sea. Rather intimate setting
Limited and rather expensive facilities. For usage of sauna there is an extra charge; normally this is included in the room price.
