Small friendly hotel, very close to the centre of Bruges.

No tea & coffee facilities in room, Ground floor room very noisy with deliveries early in the morning. Wi-Fi only available in reception. Cars parked directly outside the window made the room gloomy.

The staff was superior including the cleaning and maintenance staff. The location was great for seeing Brugge on foot. The restaurant had great food at a reasonable price. And you will ask later if I will recommend this hotel. I already have.

The only thing I would change would be for there to be a full service restaurant in the main building.

Comfortable clean accommodation with a great view over the canal. Elegantly decorated and roomy. Great breakfasts and restaurant with friendly serving staff. Reception staff were also friendly and helpful. Fab location right in the heart of Bruges.

We paid extra for a canal view but it wasn't made clear that this was a) separate from the main hotel and b) above the restaurant. As a result we felt a bit cut off from the hotel facilities and we got quite a lot of noise from people coming and going to the restaurant. There were a number of defects with the room - neither extractor fan in toilet or bathroom worked and nothing was done to fix the problem even though we raised it with management. The toilet kept on filling after flushing so we had to keep lifting the cistern lid off to sort it out. The DVD player was not connected to the TV and didn't appear to work anyway. All in all not what you expect for a 4* rating. A bit more attention to detail is needed.

This is a little gem of a hotel and my only hesitation in giving it a wonderful review is that it might be fully booked when I want to go back - which I definitely will! I booked a superior double room for a 3 night mid-week break. I emailed the hotel following our reservation to request a canal view and they came up trumps without any additional cost. We could hear the chimes of the bells in the tower through the day and the glistening of the lights on the canal in the evening was lovely and romantic. Our room was sparklingly clean and serviced without fault - it was as if the fairies had tip-toed in to restock the mini-bar and turn down the bed. All of the staff were delightful. Nothing was too much trouble and they seemed genuinely keen to make our stay perfect for us - which it really was...

Staff was extraordinary friendly. Whole luggage was transported by the staff from car park to the room. Breakfast was very good. Location of the hotel is situated midst in the old centre of Brügge. Furnishing of the room and of the hotel is old-fashioned.

No hotel-bar available but due to the location of the hotel that is no problem. Very good restaurant which belongs to the hotel, distance is roughly 250 meter. Reservation is recommendable.

The location,the lovely staff made you feel so welcome in fact the most helpfull in our experience compared to other hotels. Room was so relaxing, didnt want to leave.

A beautiful period hotel with all the touches of luxury. Wonderful staff that made us feel so welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Peaceful location by the canal which is fantastic for visiting all the city sights by foot. We will definitely be back.

The staff were friendly and always helpful. Nothing was too much much trouble for them. Very welcoming. I would recommend this hotel anybody travelling to Brugge

The Hotel was amazing. The staff did so many things for me, arranging flowers before we arrived, breakfast in bed and they could not do enough to make sure we enjoyed our stay. We had a beautiful room which looked out onto the canal, we had a weekend we will never forget staying at Die Swaene, We will be back again next year. A big thanks to Marijke & Melissa they did such a great job arranging everything.

The staff were all friendly and helpful. Our luggage was whisked away to our rooms and our car parked in the allocated private car park, nearby. We took up the hotel's offer of a 2 hour walking tour which was excellently led by a professional guide. Breakfast was very good served in an atmospheric mediaeval dining room.

The breakfast served was excellent. The choice of fruits, bread, pastry, etc....was endless. We complemented the hotel staff on the quality of their breakfast, especially the dates - they actually gave us some when we check-out that morning

Somewhat old fashioned rooms and the matress of the bed was worn. The television did not work well, seen we could only get a couple of channels. Reported it at reception, but nothing they could do about it. They compensated this freely by not charging us for the parking at the hotel. Very professional attitude of them.

The welcome from the reception and doorman was excellent. The night porter was such a nice man too. He opened up the pool for us at night for a romantic bottle of Champagne and a swim at midnight. The bar is like a set from Casablanca. The hotel itself is decorated is such antiques and old world. The breakfast room, staff and food were excellent. An extra bonus was it said when I booked breakfast extra but it was included when I went to pay. The hotel is right in the centre but a tip come out of Hotel take left, then over the bridge. Your there. We went right!!! On our first day. I highly recommend this hotel although I would love a room overlooking the canal next time. I want to go back in the Winter when snowing. Very romantic.

The attention to detail was fabulous, with antiques and candles everywhere. There is an amazing lounge room on the first floor. The breakfast is really good and value for money. The service was top class too.

Could do with a paint job. Also, the bathroom/toilet needs ventilation.
