The guy at the reception desk was good. He knew what was going on in the area and he was very friendly The room is in a very poor condition. The bathroom is newer, I guess. Cigarette smoke was getting in from somewhere. The breakfast was sober, we didn't see any eggs and the staff didn't even speak the local language. |

This is a traditional hotel that maintains good standards of welcome and service. It is located very close to the beach and has its own restaurant but for a wider choice guests will want to eat out. There is a choice of restaurants and other facilities nearby but for the best choice it is worth the 3km stroll along the promenade to the centre of Knokke. Our budget room was very adequate for a short stay but it was the breakfast that made it outstanding value. Fresh squeezed orange juice, full buffet, fresh bread and eggs to order, with staff on hand to deal with any special requests. |

Wij hadden een tweepersoonskamer gereserveerd. Bij aankomst bleek dat het een rustig weekend was, en kregen wij de keuze uit een kamer in het hotel of een appartement even verderop voor hetzelfde geld. Wij kozen natuurlijk voor het appartement, en hebben hier zeer van genoten. Dat was een geweldige verrassing na die lange filevolle reis met de auto. Ook konden wij onze fietsen binnen stallen, wat wij thuis niet eens kunnen. |

der chef des hauses ist sehr nett, hilfsbereit und freundlich. ebenso der kellner des restaurants, welches eine schöne atmosphäre mit offener küche (ohne küchendunst) und schöner tischdekoration vermittelt. das frühstück ist hervorragend. die abendmenues empfehlenswert. die nähe zum strand ist vorteilhaft. die ruhe des hotels sehr angenehm. das bad im zimmer sehr sauber. abgewetzte teppichböden in den gängen und auf dem zimmer. das schlimme licht in den fluren. die treppe hatte das format einer feuerleiter. die lage des hotels war bestimmt einmal bestechend - bevor die bauklötze in richtung meer dem "du soleil" schatten gaben und die sicht aufs meer nahmen. die seafront-einheitsarchitektur von duinbergen nimmt dem ort generell viel vom charme früherer tage. und damit auch dem preis-leistungsverhältnis des hotels. bleibt nur zu hoffen, daß die baulücke "parkplatz" als solches existent bleibt - wegen der restsicht auf ein paar schöne alte villen zur rechten seite des hotels. |
