Quirky old building full of character, perfect for exploring the city.
Slightly tired interior.
my husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in july 2014. it is a charming hotel packed with character, fantastic views over the canal, excellent location and the best staff we have ever encountered.
the only thing we didn,t like was leaving after only 2 nights.
Location Ambience Staff Bathroom size was big!
Rooms are on the smaller side.
The hotel may not have all the modern conveniences, but who cares, with the location, the atmosphere of a 1674 building, the friendly staff, breakfasts in a wonderful location, and a home-like atmosphere in a spacious room? Highly recommended as a base from which to explore this enchanting city.
The location is great for being in the heart of Bruge! You are within walking distance of everything! Parking garages are close by and it's approx 8.70 euro for 24 hrs. The hotel is older but it met all of our needs! The staff are all very friendly and helpful with providing tips and suggestions on where to eat and what to see! Breakfast was good and the view from the restaurant was beautiful!
The decor is old but I liked the charm! Wifi was only accessible in the lobby even though they advertise it's throughout the hotel! I wasn't there for the wifi but I know some may need it. It can be noisy because you are right in the middle of cafés and a busy location. Just bring some ear plugs and all will be just fine. Also no ac so if you are prepared for that should be no surprise!
Great location. Beautiful room. nice new bathroom
A little noisy- very busy weekend
There was very little not to like about this hotel. It is located on a canal in the center of a gorgeous city where you can hear and see the bell tower nearby. The building is historical (which means some inconveniences, but the charm outweighed those.) The staff was charming and helpful and the breakfast was delicious, with many choices and a view out of another era. The location was marvelous. There is an excellent, but pricey restaurant on location. They kindly held our luggage for us on our last day before we had to catch our bus out of town.
A fan in the room would be nice and the bed was a bit old...sloped on the sides. No shower curtain; no shower but a hand-held shower, so it was hard to not get water on the floor. Wifi didn't work in our room so we had to go and sit in the hall to use it (however there were chairs out there.)
We've stayed many times and always return because Le Duc has a friendly welcome and an easy atmosphere.
Excellently located for being right in the heart of Bruges. Staff very friendly. Beautiful murals and faux marbre in the reception area.
The Duc really is in need of a new set of clothes. Needs a complete re-decoration and the carpets are in desperate need of either deep cleaning or replacing.
Charming, old world hotel. Beautiful views from the room. Elegant dining room with attentive staff and a well - appointed breakfast. I can't say enough about the atmosphere, just wonderful. Location was also just great. On the canal, in the middle of everything, but inside...it was serene.
Wi- fi was spotty at best even in the lobby and never in my room. My room only had a bathtub with a hand held shower attachment. Not really a "didn't like" but an inconvenience. No lift, not a problem for me but could be for others.
verry small rooms place need re furbishment inside
Lovely old building in iconic location. Ambiance (esp. dining room), breakfast, helpful staff.
Room and accommodation area corridors etc _very_ shabby. Not 'dirty' in the sense of unhygienic but grimy in sense of not being well maintained. If you think this (for you) will add to the 16th century charm, go for it - but if you don't like chipped paintwork and grimy walls and carpets stay elsewhere.
Everything - staff, meals, facilities, location.
The dining room and breakfast were very nice.
The room was atrocious! It was dirty, dilapidated, cramped and impossible to sleep in because it was so hot and if we opened the window, the room filled with mosquitoes, due to the fact there were not screens!!!! Also, lugging our suitcases up two flights (no elevator) was a challenge because the stairway is narrow.
twin beds instead double, dirty towels, very noisy street from 5 a.m., really slowly service in the restaurant for dinner
Charming place in an outstanding location... We loved it
We booked a smaller room but the keys to the door weren't working and were given the bigger room with views of the canal on both sides. Lovely stay!!
Carpets and Curtains were old and bath with curtain would help.
Great location. Excellent breakfast. Great restaurant (but expensive). Really great location!!!
We had to change rooms, but the hotel only informed us in the morning of the change, as we were leaving for a walk. Very inconvenient. I pointed out that a note the night before would have made it easier, and the answer "that's the way our system work" didn't satisfied me.
I have had half a dozen newspaper & magazine articles about this hotel from the past 30 years , so it has been on my 'Bucket List' for that long. I had been to Bruges twice before , but never stayed overnight. I was thrilled to finally get the chance to stay here, for 3 nights. I was not disappointed. The location & staff especially made it very enjoyable.
The location was fantastic and the historic interest of the building itself was a bonus. The staff were very helpful, and also we had a good breakfast every day in beautiful surroundings overlooking the canal.
Location and restaurant
Cleanliness filthy carpet thick dust stained sheets that had be changed stained sofas
The staff were very helpful, pleasant and polite.
Took some while to check in because there was no one around and we had to search for them.
Vert Nice staff Perfect location Good value for money
Building badly needs renovation
Beautiful location beautiful building
